The podcast host, Yigit Faiz, introduces himself and his goal of providing accurate information about how technology helps smart cities grow. They mention conducting interviews and a survey to support their argument. They discuss how technology helps cities become more organized by saving important documents and data. They also mention how technology helps cities grow efficiently and sustainably by managing distribution and reducing waste. Citizen participation and the use of data and technology in smart cities initiatives are highlighted. Examples of smart traffic management systems, Internet of Things in urban planning, and predictive policing are given. Technology has also played a crucial role in managing public health during the COVID-19 pandemic. Hello, my name is Yigit Faiz, and I will be your second host of this podcast. I also studied this subject for seven years, four of them in Harvard University. My goal is to help you get the right information about our subject so you can become an expert at it and that you will understand it clearly. The question that we will be focusing on is, how does technology help smart cities become bigger? To support our argument, we will be having some interviews throughout the podcast. We might also do a survey to start a point that we have. Understanding the differences will really help us understand how technology can help in a lot of things. Also this will help us as the podcast goes on. First, we'll be looking at things technology did that helped smart cities get more organized. One example is that technology helps save important documents and data. Because in a city with almost no technology, documents can be easily lost. In this part, we will take a survey and see if people think that technology is helpful for cities or not. 10 people will participate in it. Technology helps cities grow efficiently and sustainably, and there are many factors for that. One example is that it helps manage distribution and helps reduce waste. This helps cities in an economic way. This involvement puts pressure on the government to respect the needs of citizens. This is one of the benefits of citizen participation. For example, smart cities initiatives are gaining popularity across the globe. For example, these initiatives use data and technology to create more efficient urban areas. In Singapore, for instance, smart traffic management systems have significantly reduced congestion because real-time data collection and analysis help manage traffic flow. Another important aspect of the use of Internet of Things in urban planning, because Internet of Things devices collect data to optimize city services like waste management and water supply. In addition, predictive policing uses data analysis to prevent crime. This can lead to more efficient use of police resources and safer communities. As we saw during the COVID-19 pandemic, technology was vital in managing public health. Contact tracing, apps and remote working solutions helped control the spread of the virus.
