Nothing to say, yet
The person is recording something and discussing the technical aspects of the recording. They ask about pausing and stopping the recording. They mention a friend named Heather who is well-liked by others. They also mention getting chocolate on their shirt and not wanting to do video. They talk about starting a podcast and getting emotional about their first guest. They ask the guest about their experiences and resilience. They discuss health issues and the support they received. They also talk about the importance of having someone who has your back. Record to the cloud. Recording in progress. OK. Right. Wait, so what did it, what did that, what were you just reading? The little box popped up for you guys? OK. OK. Got it. Whoops. There goes my notes. OK. And so, because I don't have, I don't have a, oh wait, I guess it's up here now. I'm not sure why, like, it's looking different for me, but I can see, like, up here if I want to pause. I'm just going to play around with this for a second. Start it again. OK. All right. And then, Heather, does it matter, like, so Christine and I hopped on last night and did kind of a little one, and it did record and I was able to go back and listen to it and it sounded OK, but does it matter if I go ahead and, like, stop the recording, just do it, like, to go in and, like, manually stop recording versus just, like, ending the meeting? So, like, if I want to, like, ending it is going to end it, but if I stop recording and then she and I can, like, if we want to chat afterwards or whatever, then we can. OK. What, OK, what will create a separate file? Right. Yeah, I understand that. I just meant in terms of, like, when we're actually done, should I just push the – go up here and push the stop recording and then she and I can chat after. OK. I didn't know if I – like, last night I just ended the meeting and that's how it stopped, but OK. OK. Heather Christine has heard all about you because – and with my other friends. I was even talking to my coach yesterday, Lucas, and I mentioned Heather and he goes, oh, we love Heather. And he's like, who's Heather? Everybody loves Heather. Oh, my – I have – OK, this is the first time I've ever worn this shirt and I got chocolate all over it. Of course. Of course. Yep. Totally classic. Yes. Yeah. Well, that's also – I don't know. I think I said not to do video, but now I'm not even sure about that. But if it records video, too, we just – we're never going to use it. OK. So, yeah. Yeah, I didn't even – I didn't put on makeup. I didn't – I don't think I brushed my hair. So in terms of – I know that you had created a thing on – like, the thing that you shared with me for the podcast. Do I – did I need to create my own thing or I just share this to that when I'm done? OK. OK. OK. Cool. Seriously, I have decimated this shirt. It's good. It's good. It just makes me, like, not take myself too seriously. OK. Thank you, Heather. I think you can hop off and we're just going to do our thing. I've got, like, cotton mouth. I've got that, like, nervous cottony, you know. That's good. OK. I know. I love it. OK. Thank you, Heather. OK. All right. Bye. So, Christine, what – I know we're already at 308. What is your, like, hard stop? What is that? Is that just under two hours from now? OK. If we've gone that long, I feel like something has gone awry. OK. So, as I wrote, I'm not doing any sort of official intro. And for whoever – the editor who I haven't hired yet, thank you in advance, editor. But, obviously, all this stuff that we've done so far is not part of the podcast. Wait. Can you hear – when I take a drink, can you hear? Like, is the microphone that sensitive? OK. All right. Well, I'll do a walk maybe while you're talking. Oh, that's sweet. OK. Oh, my gosh. We got this. OK. Here's – I know that you will understand this. This is the thing that I'm understanding about myself with ADHD is the getting started. It's the actually, like – it's written down here. All I have to do is say it. But it's just a – OK. So, for the editor, we are going to start. I don't know if I'm supposed to count down. I felt like in three, two – OK. This is the part – wait. So, we're – OK. We're not actually starting yet, editor. This is the part – I'm going to kind of read through some of this before I – yeah, I've got a page that I'm going to kind of read through. So, pretend I'm looking at you before I kind of launch into the question. We're just going to hit the ground running after I say what I'm going to say. OK. One last sip. Did you hear that when I hit the table? OK. Don't hit the table. All right. OK. For the editor, we are starting now. I'm going to start this timer. Christine, I am so thrilled and thankful that you're my first guest. I don't – I'm going to cry already. I don't recall meeting most people, but I remember meeting you. It was the spring of 1997, and I had just moved to California. I can't believe I'm crying already. We were at the Stewart Street House in Berkeley, and you were sitting on a piano bench. And I guess I would call it the platonic version of love at first sight, except it was more recognition at first sight. It was a feeling of, oh, there you are, like I'd been looking for you. Oh, my gosh. I knew immediately that you were a kindred spirit and we'd be friends. We went on to live together in 1998 and 1999 with our dear friends Alisa and Doris, who are listening. Hello. We love you. We've traveled together. We've experienced a lot of life together. And one of those trips was to Kauai in 2001 with Alisa and Doris. You and I snorkeled at Tunnels Beach, and there's a place where the coral reef drops off, and when you look down, it is pitch black. I was so scared that you held my hand as we swam out over the drop off and helped me to do this thing that I was scared of and to enjoy it. When the time came to think of someone to metaphysically hold my – metaphysically? Metaphorically? Maybe edit that out. To metaphorically hold my hand for this first podcast – wait, let me go back here. Editor, my darling editor. When it came time to think of someone to – why can't I say this? Okay. Oh, editor, you're going to have fun with this one. Okay. Here we go. So when it came time to think of someone to metaphorically hold my hand as my first guest on the podcast, I knew it had to be you. So welcome and thank you. I did not expect to cry already, but I just adore you. And I think you know me well enough to – I do like to kind of just get on with things. So in thinking about the name of the podcast, which is What I Know So Far, and thinking about you as the guest, I thought, what does Christine know so far? Like from my perspective. And the thing that came to mind was how to be resilient. Because I know you and I know your life these last few years, I'm aware of what's gone on, but your stories are not my stories to tell. And so I'm just going to come right out and ask my darling Christine, what has happened in the last few years that has caused you, whether you liked it or not or wanted it or not, to become more resilient? Mm-hmm. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing all of this. And I was, I mean, I was aware of all of this that was happening at the time, but when you talk about it now, it is astonishing that, like, it was just over the course of a few months, like, all of that happened in such a short span of time. And I know that more has happened. It wasn't just, this is just how life kind of piles on sometimes. It wasn't just the colon cancer, that some other things have popped up, too, since then, that, like, each time, and I'll let you share what they are, but each time I know all of us who love you are like, you have got to be kidding me. Like, how much stuff can one person go through? Do you feel comfortable saying, like, what else has happened? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. 2022, right? Yeah. Sorry. That's okay. It's like a year, a year after the colon cancer. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yay. Yeah. Well, I remember when you were making the decision about whether or not to have the mastectomy without knowing if you actually had cancer and then finding out afterwards. I remember the text from you when we were all like, wait, what? And that, to me, is, that is proof of, like, you really listening, like you said, to your intuition, that something, something told you, perhaps out of the hard-won experience of perhaps, you know, kind of maybe not listening to some of the signals your body was giving you about the colon cancer, and so now you were on top of it. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. As you know, my dad died four years ago, and a few months before he passed away, my therapist, who also sadly passed away unexpectedly a few months ago, but she told me that I was going to feel really vulnerable when my dad died. And I said, really? I said, he's 83 and frail and sickly and living halfway across the country, and it's not like he's here fighting my battles for me. And she said, it doesn't matter because there's something almost primal about knowing that your parents or guardian or whoever raises you, just knowing that they are on this planet, you feel like somebody has got your back, somebody is always going to be there for you. And I knew that you were obviously grieving your mom but then facing such a hard situation without her. You mentioned, like, some of these, like the nurses and some of the staff and even your chemo buddy, but in those hard moments of grief and pain, who did you turn to? Who was there for you? Right. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay.
