Piper Webb and Ms. Webb discuss their experience with the Bible Recap reading plan. While Ms. Webb prefers using the Bible app on her phone, Piper finds the paper version more motivating. Ms. Webb listens to the Bible while getting ready in the mornings, finding it convenient for her busy schedule. They both share their "God shots," moments where they see God in the scripture. Piper mentions Joseph in Genesis and the parting of the Red Sea, while Ms. Webb reflects on the Israelites complaining despite God's faithfulness. They discuss the challenges of keeping up with the daily readings and the accountability it provides. Both recommend the Bible Recap for its structure, accountability, and the opportunity to discover personal "God shots." Hello listeners, welcome to a little talk with Ms. Webb. So today I have with me Piper Webb. She's a student at Appalachian State University and we're going to be talking about a Bible reading plan that her and I have both been doing. It's called the Bible Recap with Tara Lee Cobble. So this is available on the Bible app in your app store. There's also a podcast that you can subscribe to and then there's a paper version. So we wanted to kind of talk about this because both of us decided to do this Bible Recap this year and we both decided to do it different ways. So the Bible Recap actually goes through reading the Bible in chronological order. I decided to use my Bible app that I have on my phone to go through this process and Piper actually decided to go on paper. So Piper if you want to just say hello and introduce yourself. Hey I'm Piper Webb. I go to Appalachian. I'm a freshman. My degree is elementary education and yeah I did the I'm doing the paper version which I find is really good because it keeps me more motivated to do it and I feel like if I read it on paper and it's right in front of me I can understand it better. So I want to know how it is listening on the app for you. So that's actually a great question. So I'm a busy mom of four kids. Piper's actually one of my children and I have two children in college. One who still lives at home. One who's at Appalachian obviously. I have a 15 year old and then I have a seven year old. So I'm a full-time mom, a full-time teacher at a local elementary school and then I'm also a full-time graduate student. So I'm a very very busy person but I wanted to make sure that I had my time reading my Bible and using the app has been a really convenient for me because I listen to it auditorily every day while I'm getting ready in the mornings and I've also I found that if I if I skip a morning if I wake up late and I'm in a rush and I don't that I miss listening to it but it also gives me an opportunity to listen to the Bible as I'm doing things and getting ready or whatever I'm doing. I'm also a very auditorial learner so I take in whatever I hear really well and I don't necessarily have to have that paper pencil. I do like that as well but it's just been really convenient for me. So I actually had a question for Piper throughout the study the Bible recap. Carolee Cobble is often talking about God shots and she calls them God shots because it's where you see God in the scripture and I wanted to know like what one of your God shots that you have seen throughout the the Bible recap. I'll start with one of mine so I'm currently reading through Deuteronomy and the Israelites are getting ready to be introduced into the promised land and I noticed how even though God had delivered them from Egypt they had seen all these miraculous wonders from God and he had time and time again came through for them they continue to complain and whine and doubt and again and again God comes through and it was so relatable for me because I feel like as Christians you know we see God come through for us we've seen him work in our lives and how many times to be whining complain and and he still comes through and all these thousands of years later you know we're still whining and complaining like the Israelites did so that was a God shot for me like I can see that part in my life. So Piper where do you see your God shot in like the scripture that you're reading? Mine would be when it's Joseph in Genesis when like he was bringing the people out of Egypt or with the Pharisees or whatever and he was like I'm taking my people back because that's what the Lord said and the Lord like parted the Red Sea or whatever and I was like if you can it showed me if you continue to follow God he will get you out of your like challenges and your troubles if you continue to follow him so that was definitely one of my God shots. Awesome so another question I had Piper was you know we both I think feel like this part this Bible recap has been a good thing so what were some of the challenges that you feel like you've faced going through the Bible recap? I think just being able to keep up with it because you're in Deuteronomy right now you're on time but I read it with my roommate at college and we're behind a little bit I wear it just starting Leviticus so I think it's being able to keep up and actually be on time and that is just hard for us sometimes and but it also keeps us accountable for each other that's a good thing that is also comes out of it for being on paper as well. I will say that I have to back that up I do feel like it has been challenging to keep up because this plan is a daily reading of the Bible and it's usually between two to five chapters and whatever book or books that you're reading through so sometimes keeping up can be a challenge but I've always been able to go back and try to catch up where I can like if I have extra time. So my last question before we end our podcast for today would you recommend the Bible recap to other people and why? Yeah I would definitely recommend it to people because this is a I wouldn't I mean I wouldn't say easy but it's a great way to get through the Bible in one year and it's going to keep you accountable because like Heather said it's daily it's daily so you have to keep doing it every single day and the God shots are personally my favorite and I think that other people are going to love the God shots as well. Perfect so I'll have to piggyback off that and say definitely having that plan keeps you accountable and the fact that Terri Lee Cobble has those God shots in there and kind of breaks down the scripture for you helps you understand but you also get your own God shots aside from what she points out too so it's chronologically taking you through you have a plan to follow you don't have to figure it out on your own and you have somebody you know pointing out things and and sometimes it's things that you didn't notice yourself. Well Popper thank you so much for joining me today maybe you can join me again on another podcast and I hope you guys have enjoyed our talk have a good day
