Our dear Lord and Master, we thank you for yet another opportunity to come to encounter your Word. We pray that you open our eyes to see wondrous things in your law and grant us the faith to do. In Jesus name, Amen. We'll take our confession together from Joshua chapter 1 verse 8. This book of the law shall not depart out of my mouth, but I shall meditate in it day and night, that I may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then I will make my way prosperous, and then I will have good success. Amen. Beloved, the topic for our morning glory devotion is the profitable Word of God. The profitable Word of God. We'll take our scripture reading from 2 Timothy chapter 3 verse 16 and 17. All scripture is given by the inspiration of God, and it is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. Amen. The profitable Word of God. Our faith life is a journey to not only believe, but also to practice and do the Word of God. Faith is an action word. It is not a call to recite creeds, but rather a call to action. Faith comes by the Word of God. For the believer, the Word of God is the source of all righteous instructions. When a believer takes the Word of God seriously and commits to doing what the Word of God says, there is absolutely no way that the believer will not see overwhelming rewards. The more we grow in God and in the faith life, the more we value the Word of God, the more we read the Word of God and apply ourselves to it, the more we realize how it addresses the issues in every area of our lives and society. God's desire is to make us more like Jesus so that we can reflect His image and be ambassadors for Him in this world. In order to do this, God has given us His Word, the Bible. It is a complete book that teaches sound doctrine. It reproves and corrects wrong conduct and it points us straight to the path of righteousness. The outcome is that you and I as men, women and children of God will be properly equipped for victorious living. The world we live in now has presented and popularized ideas in a culture that is contrary to the culture of God. Just like it was in the Garden of Eden, this culture appears sensible and very enticing, yet it is an absolute contradiction to the ways of God. It is the Word of God alone that is able to guide the believer through the narrow paths full of choices and lifestyle decisions in order to remain holy and pleasing to God. The Word of God is profitable to the child of God. It is able to bear the fruits of the Spirit in our lives. It gives us direction and provides wisdom for everyday living. The Word of God empowers us to live that counter-cultural life in this crooked and perverse generation. Our utmost goal as believers is the desire to read the Word of God for ourselves. We are to read and read it until we come to the point of encounter with the person revealed in the Word. When we have encountered God in His Word, then we will be fully persuaded to always practice what the Word of God says. Beloved, let us take up this charge as children of God, and we will receive the full profits of the Word. God bless you. Amen.
