In this episode of the podcast, "Gentleman's Agreement," the hosts discuss their name change and introduce themselves. They talk about their love for sports and esports and their friendship since high school. They mention that they will cover various topics such as the NCAA tournament, esports, and NFL free agency. They then discuss Michigan's loss in the NIT tournament and express disappointment in the team's inability to finish games. They also discuss Virginia's upset loss and Arizona's early exit in the NCAA tournament. The hosts praise Furman for their first tournament win since 1974 and comment on Princeton's impressive performance. Welcome back to episode 2 of the Gentleman's Agreement. Name change. Name change. Yup. We decided after long debates, we decided that JD and the boys sounded kind of like a garage boy band, but Gentleman's Agreement, that's what we settled on. We also are going to do a little bit of an intro about ourselves, just so you can get a little bit of a feel about who actually you have up here talking with you today. My name is Jay. You can call me Jake, Jay, whatever you want, and this starting of a podcast has been something I've been wanting to do for quite some time, and it literally combines sports, esports, and everything in between, and funny enough, sports and esports is what brought D and I together, so I'm excited to tell you about all the memories that we've had. We've got tons of stories for you guys, and believe me, Marsh Madness coming up, still got tons of devious takes. I'm Daniel, or D. I grew up loving all things sports. Jay and I have been friends since high school, where we did get on the games far too often. Oh, too much. And Krejci and I were childhood friends, and we've just been buddies ever since. In this episode, we cover a little bit of how we hung out, a little World War. Oh, yeah. We've all been buddies for a long time now. We're just a couple of buddies wanting to share some of our knowledge to anyone who can kind of put up with us, so try to enjoy it a little bit. Yep, and they have graciously allowed me to be on this podcast. They might regret it later, but I am Jared, last name Krejci, so they call me Krejci on the show. Like they said, Daniel and I have been friends for a good long while, and I don't know why Jay didn't mention this. Maybe he doesn't want to be known, but we are related. He's my cousin. Alone to death. Just like they said, love sports and playing video games, and just excited to talk about it with them. Absolutely. In this episode, we recap Michigan season, talk about the NCAA tournament, play a brief but very exciting March Madness trivia game you won't want to miss. We dive into some eSports, and in the ending, we talk about a little NFL free agency. So, sit back, grab a bite to eat, maybe a drink, and enjoy the episode. Alright, first up on the docket, it is March, and it has been madness. The first little bit, we're going to cover some of the men's tournaments, but first, I think it's time that we take a little trip over to the NIT. Michigan, for certain, is not hanging any banners. Jared, your thoughts? My thoughts. Real quick. Real quick. Would we hang a banner if we won in the NIT? We do hang it. We do hang banners. Remember when we mentioned the Michigan-Wisconsin game? We looked up, and we were like, no shot they're hanging NIT banners. They did. Yeah. That's the one thing we noticed. Craig Shearer is the only one that watched the game, so please give the people a recap. I have a confession to make. I did turn this basketball game on. I turned it on with about five minutes left, and I saw Michigan do a few good things. They actually went on a little run, built a lead. They got up 65-57 with about a minute 30 left. Things were like, alright, they're probably going to salt this one away. That's kind of cool. I got to see them win this one. Now I'd like to give you, at this point, they have a 98.6% chance to win, based on the ESPN metrics or whatever, however they calculate that. Okay. I'm going to read you the play-by-play from ESPN. Here we go. We're up 65-57 with a minute six left. Hunter Dickinson misses a layup, whatever. Nice. They get the board. They go down and make a layup. But it's not just a normal layup. We have to follow them while they make this layup, because that's how good at closing games we are. So we give him an in one. He makes a free throw. It's 65-59 with a minute left. Sorry, 65-60 with a minute left. Still total with the ball. There's no way you should lose this game. We inbound the ball, dribbled up a little bit. T. Will, a junior on the team, you know, not some freshman, turns it over, and to compound his mistake, he also fouled the guy that stole it from him. So they, instead of having to work for their points and use clock, just get to march their butt down to the free throw line, sink two free throws, and it is now 65-62. So now you're starting to sweat a little bit, but you still have 40 seconds left. You're still in complete control. We then inbound the ball and are dribbling it up. Doug McDaniel gets trapped on the sideline and just throws it out of bounds. Just way out of bounds. Not even close. Not even close. And he's a freshman, so that was a freshman move. Did he do that from one side to the entire opposite side of the court? Yep. Yep, like the whole width of the court. Way over. You're a genius. He just did it. What are you doing there? It's very reminiscent of Virginia. Oh, man. Anyway, so they get the ball off that turnover, right, as a live turnover. We go down, and they make a layup. So now it's 65-64. Jawan says, oh, timeout. We need to chill out here. Draws up an absolutely foul inbounds play. We inbound it and turn it over again, and they get the layup right under our bat, like one of those where you turn it over right under your own basket, and they lay it in. Vanderbilt is now winning this game with 11 seconds left. We call another timeout just to, you know, drop another sweet play. And Doug McDaniel missed a jumper, and we missed a tip-in, and the game ends 65-66. So we went from a 98% chance to win down to a zero. And that's the season in a nutshell. Couldn't finish a closed game to save our lives. Darn Michigan. Yeah, I don't think we need to recover this anymore. I say we tie this season up in a nice little bow. We got the wrong script this year. We got the right script. If it was misprint, we should have gotten Michigan State's script. Who knows, okay? Who knows? But, yeah, perfect way to end the season in a season of constant, like, collapses and just – and this one isn't even on the coach. Like, this is not on the coach. This is the players just not having that dog in them and owning the moment and just holding onto the ball so you can get free throws, get fouled. So, we're on the table, okay? Creech, Jawan Howard, next season. Is he the coach of Michigan? Yeah, he'll be the coach at the start of the year. At the start of the year? Yeah, and then we'll see. I think he could get fired midseason if it goes downhill quick. Steve? Yes, but on the hot seat, he won't get fired in the middle season, but they will – if he puts up the same season, he'll get fired by the end. Yep. So on the hot seat, in my opinion. I 100% agree. And I think we should – yeah, let's move on to the NCAA where the actual basketball is happening. Thursday night, right? Thursday? I got Thursday all day. Thursday night, okay? Our first big upset, correct, is Virginia. 13 seed, right? 13 seed against a four – Now, okay, if we think back to our first ever podcast together, okay, we were dumpstering Virginia. Am I correct in that statement? So I would say, granted, I won't say that we were wrong on certain picks that we've had, but overall we were overwhelmingly correct in a lot of our – I'll never admit that we were wrong. But, oh my goodness, Virginia, Furman, okay? That was – it all comes down to the infamous inbounds play, okay? Looking back at this – Did Virginia have a timeout? Does anybody know? I don't necessarily remember if they had a timeout, but the guy inboundsing it, okay, it's not like a freshman. He was a freshman. You guys know what he was? He's old. He was a fifth-year senior. And not only does he have – he had a gentleman wide open on the right-hand side over by the benches, nobody around him for like 10 feet, okay? All he had to do was just hit him with a nice little bounce pass. He decides to, instead of making a solid lob all the way across the court to kind of extend play, he just throws just like a side hook shot that you would see at like a rec league basketball game. And I mean – And then the rest is history, right? The rest is history, exactly. And, of course, like Virginia with that turnover and their tournament history of choking. What happened? Furman dagger three. I mean, and we already saw Furman ain't a good team. No. Smoked by San Diego State. Smoked on Saturday. 75-52. So that's just bad. And last thing about this game, gentlemen, Furman, first tournament win since 1974. None of us were even close to being born. So a big shout-out to Furman for getting an NCAA tourney win. My father was two years old. My father was two years old. Big shout-out to Furman. But we did have another upset, Craig. Take away on Arizona-Princeton there. Yeah, Arizona getting bounced early. Princeton, the 15 seed. You know, the last couple years, there's always been – Three in a row. Yeah. A 15 seed has weaseled their way into the sweet 16. It's becoming a theme. So maybe we need to note that for next year's bracket. We've got to mandatory take one 15 seed to the sweet 16. Okay. Yeah, I agree. I agree. It's got to be mandatory. I think – I love the way Princeton plays. Okay. So they had the upset for Arizona. They toyed with Missouri. And we watched this game yesterday. They had all five players beyond the arc, and they just made Missouri look like fools. Their coach was smiling, having a great time. The loser just dropped the nukes on them from two feet beyond the arc. You mentioned the coach. Princeton had a big lead going into halftime. Kind of choked it away. Missouri cuts it to seven. What did the coach say going into halftime in the report? He was like, I'm not worried about it. We got it. He was so nonchalant about it. Seven seed Missouri. Who had a decent season? But you're right. Missouri or Princeton put up 45 in the second half. On Missouri, who they said was a tougher, more physical, could rebound the ball well team. Princeton out-rebounded them 44-30. Embarrassed them. Their big guy had something ridiculous, like 14 rebounds? 15, I think. 15 rebounds? They got 14. Some guy that looks like he'd be great at rebounding. I know. About 15. So, yeah, we obviously took a lot of notes about Princeton beating Arizona, but you've got to kind of just pass that up because they smoked Missouri. They're in the sweet 16. So, gentlemen, right now, are they making it to the Elite Eight? One more game. Who does Princeton have? Princeton's got to be the winner of Creighton and Baylor. Oh, yeah, that's a very winnable team. So, right here, right now, Creech, you're saying Princeton's in the Elite Eight? Yeah, I think Princeton can do it. Jay? So, I would like to – currently this Creighton-Baylor game is going on, but if Princeton plays and can get the boards and shoot the three like they did, I honestly see it as a legitimate opportunity. Have we ever had a 15-seed up in the Elite Eight? St. Peter's last year did make it. St. Peter's, yep. They beat Purdue, did they not, in the sweet 16? For don't. Sorry, we'll get to for don't. It was a 16-seed, Fairley-Dickinson, that we have not seen. The 16-seed has not made it in the sweet 16. Okay, UMBC is the only other team that they lost. They can make history tonight. What time does Fairley-Dickinson play tonight? That's a big game. About 8 o'clock tonight, 8 o'clock. But to jump into our next game, we have Arkansas-Illinois. We took a few notes. Our first Big Ten team, they get bounced. Is that true? Probably. I think Arkansas beats them. Illinois, once again, cannot make it to the next round. They haven't made a sweet 16 in 50 years, practically. Illinois, choke artist for the Big Ten. Actually, all the Big Tens choke artists, except MSU this year. But not much to say about Arkansas-Illinois, other than the fact that that can segue us into Arkansas-Kansas. Yesterday, we were together for that game. Yes. Game of the day. I like this Arkansas team for two reasons. One, they're physical. They're physical. They can shoot. It reminds me of street ball that they play, almost. And number two, they've got some ugly dudes. I made a note, and I was like, they look like they have the live representation of Mr. Clean on their team. You've got Smith with the pigtails. That was not a good look for him. He looked better in the Kansas game. When I first saw, was his name Welsh? Walsh. Walsh. Oh, yeah. He has, when I first watched him, I was like, is he bald? Or has he just got bleached hair? Yeah. He's got two shades on the scalp. Have you guys ever seen Spy Kids, the movie? Way too long ago. It looks like a Thumb Thumb. I don't know. That's a callback that maybe some of the listeners will know. It looks like the Monstars from Space Jam. And we can't forget the moment of the tournament yesterday when Eric Musselman, in joyous celebration, rips his shirt off like he's a 22-year-old lad and just is swinging around, hyping up the Arkansas fans. That was a cool moment. It's cool to see that. And that's why this tournament is so beautiful because it brings out just the raw emotion of victory and defeat in people. You just see people do crazy things that they wouldn't normally do. So I thought that was pretty awesome. Yeah, it was cool. He's kind of jacked, though. Yeah. I need to look up how old he is. You can't have the name Musselman without having Musselman. Exactly. But let's hop to the Friday game. We can actually just talk about MSU here. They outlasted USC. Izzo broke a whiteboard in a timeout against USC. Still angry. We actually just watched them move to the Sweet 16. Marquette and Chaka Smart, which, Chris, you called it. Chaka Smart cannot win. Cannot win. So my question, has Tom Izzo ever been happy? We watched them get two calls where a foul was called on Marquette and then he worked the other ref about another call five minutes ago. Has he ever been happy? I am just genuinely curious. I would like to see his doctor's reports as to what that dude's blood pressure is like. I couldn't even imagine being his wife and cooking a meal and it's not salted enough and he just goes full on berserker mode. He is an angry elf, but you got to give him credit. He got the job done. They have overhauled Mr. Marks this year because nobody else in the Big Ten. Well, potentially Indiana tonight. But nobody else in the Big Ten once again is going to make it to the Sweet 16. So MSU kind of carrying the bag for the Big Ten this year. Speaking of the other end of the Big Ten, another one that we also were relatively correct on, Perdomo. That's the biggest upset of the tournament. Perdomo, baby. That's not only the biggest upset of the tournament, that's the biggest upset in tournament history, I believe. And why is it? The line was like 23, Purdue was favored by 23 and a half points or something. Well, also, I think it was showing, they showed on the kind of like the illustrations that they showed at the very beginning of each game, 16 seeds were like 1 in 150 going into that night. Now they have two? Yep, holy smokes. Another side note on that game, this is a little betting nugget for our bettors out there. Zach Eady's point total was the most bet player prop from the first round of the tournament, and it was set at 21 and a half. Why? Why? Because they were playing the shortest team in the NCAA with an average height of 6'1". Yeah, Zach Eady's playing a bunch of literal midgets compared to him, and they set it at 21 and a half. Zach Eady ends with 21. And you're like, oh, that's a pretty good day, you know, it's close. But here's the bad beat part. He had 21 with eight minutes left in the game and didn't attempt a shot from that point on. Are we saying Zach Eady gambled? Maybe. He maybe took the under on himself. I mean, how do you not get that man a shot in the last eight minutes of a ball game? I'm saying right here, Zach Eady parlayed his under with every EU money line. That would be a nice payout. Do we have him on for the segment? Let him cook and see what devious parlay he cooked up before the beginning of that game. Let me... For all those Purdue fans out there, I hate to bring this up, but let me recap to you fellas. The last three March Madness appearances Purdue has made. Okay? This past one, they get bounced. First round by a 16 seed. 2022, who'd they get bounced by? A 15 seed. St. Peter's. 2021, they get bounced by a 13 seed. North Texas. I mean, you just got to burn the program and start over at that point. Speaking of that, I had to contact one of my old high school buddies and ask him. He's a Purdue fan, I said. Hey, I need to know. Is it, you know, fire painter? Are those words coming into your brain at all? And he goes, most certainly. I don't know if he wants to pull the trigger yet or give him maybe one more year, but you best believe if that happened to any of my coaches, I would want him shot out of the can. That's ridiculous. It's unacceptable, really. And then on top of that, they just go and vandalize the locker room whiteboard? Yeah. Because he has the money now. Maybe Tom snuck in, you know, broke the whiteboard, who knows. You know. That's hilarious. One more, if it couldn't get any worse for Purdue, I mean, it doesn't get much more rock bottom than losing to a 16 seed, but Fairleigh Dickinson wasn't even supposed to be in the tournament. That's a good point. They were a replacement. They didn't win their conference tournament. The team that won their respective conference tournament they were transferring, they were moving to some other league, so they were ineligible to make the NCAA tournament this year. So Fairleigh Dickinson got the nod instead of them. By default. Well, maybe they just lost on purpose just to put it at Purdue more because they knew they were in the tournament. Yeah. Yeah, probably, honestly. That's hilarious. Other games, I think we covered Saturday. Sunday, Kansas State edges out Kentucky. Marquis Noel, he's a baller. I got a chance to watch him. Krejc asked me on the last episode if I've watched any Kansas State ball. I can say now confidently I've watched about a half hour of it. Dude's a baller. Finished with 27 points, 9 assists. Iced the game out against Kentucky. They hit 4 threes that were just like 3 feet beyond the arc in the final 6 minutes. They iced out the game. Very entertaining end of the game. Opposite of what we just watched from Michigan State. Michigan State, there was no fight back from Marquette. Speaking of which, that's their next matchup is Michigan State, Kansas State. So based off the 30 minutes that you watched, do you think that Kansas State is going to lay an egg like Shaka Smart and Marquette? Or do you think it's going to be enough to take down Mr. Angry Tom Izzo? Kansas State by a billion. No, seriously. You know Izzo's always going to have them fighting hard. They will never question the hard work that they put out there. But I think Kansas State is playing a little bit better than Marquette is, and they don't have Shaka Smart. So I'm going to say Kansas State, but you guys, you've seen both now. What do you think going into the Sweet 16? I haven't watched any Kansas State, but I thought if Michigan State got past Marquette that they could probably make a Final Four run. Especially now with their one seed, Purdue, being knocked out. I really don't think they're like Kansas State. If I'm a State fan, Kansas State doesn't scare me. Frankly, no one left in the region scares me. So Michigan State could make a Final Four run, and that would suck, but it could totally happen. Side note, there have been no overtime games this year, gentlemen. Can't get our free wings, man. No free wings from B-Dubs. That is very sad right now. I want to talk about this team, because I feel like we've had two just completely polarizing games. Is this the last remaining one seed in the tournament right now? Nope, Alabama. Houston and Bama. Houston and Bama are the last two one seeds. Okay, but Alabama has had no competition so far. You mean Maryland from the Big Ten? They don't even have the Turtle as their head coach anymore. Yeah, so they've faced no competition up until we have San Diego State now. Houston, okay. North Kentucky, 63-52. Houston looked awful in that game. Did not play well. And I had previously watched the game with Auburn and Iowa, and I was pretty impressed with how Auburn kind of took down Iowa. Now moving on to Houston and Auburn, that next game, Houston dominated that game. 81-64. And it was more than a second half. Yeah. In the first half, it was solid defense play. Auburn's defense looked great, but obviously fouls come in. You said dominated. What do you think they outscored Auburn in the second half? What do you think each team put up in the second half? What was the score going in half? It was 41-31. 41-31? Houston put up 50. Auburn put up 23. More than doubled their score in the second half. That is a clinic. That domination. That's how a one seed responds right there. Yeah. To any potential haters up there. Next up, Xavier. That was kind of dicey in that first round. Xavier should have lost. I was actually watching that with my students, so we were watching that in the classroom, and we were all really rooting for... Shout out to Jay. Yeah. Pulling up the stream while teaching. Hey, man, it's the last week before spring break, and... It's March Madness. I mean, you try getting 35 ninth graders that are asking you to play the game to focus on English. It's just not going to happen. So, like I said, give the people what they want, okay? I'm a man of the people. Yeah, there's always that cool teacher in high school that would throw March Madness on, so definitely want to be that guy. Oh, absolutely. And we saw some good. We saw Michigan State-USC. We saw the Xavier-Kent State game. Then we have coming up here in the Sweet 16, we got Xavier and Texas. What are our thoughts on that? They both look beatable. What about our take? I think Texas wins as well. We're going back on our take? Never bet on Orange? The Orange teams are performing. Tennessee, Tennessee did win. They're in the Sweet 16. Golly, was I wrong on that one. I had Tennessee and Texas getting bounced. Purely, that's just because of hatred. Hey, you got to have some of that, because you never know with March. Exactly. That's why it's called March Madness. Let's do something quick about the Big Ten. Yeah. Let's do something quick about the Big Ten. Yesterday, Saturday, Big Ten went 0-3 down the night. Penn State was the closest. They actually were up on Texas, 58-55. Gave up 10 straight points, and that was about the end of the game. Just another awful performance from the Big Ten. What do you think the reason is behind it? Is it the big man scheme that we go with? Yeah, the Big Ten's very physical, big man oriented. They don't play, like, most of the teams in the Big Ten don't play a fast-paced style, like, running gun, fast break. I don't know. I feel like they just get overwhelmed when they get in the tournament against these other conferences that are used to running all over the floor on them. Yeah. I don't know if it was the ticket or if it was part of my take where I was listening to this, and this was going back to even college football season. Somebody compared the SEC to the Big Ten, and I saw an analogy that the Big Ten conference is a pickup truck, okay? They're reliable, they're great, they can get you anywhere that you want to go, and it's entertaining to have one, okay? And the SEC, and especially the teams in this tournament, in comparison to the Big Ten, they're like a nice sports car, okay? Fast, they're agile, they're quick, and two completely different styles we're talking about. I think that when you bring the Big Ten out of that conference play, in conference, I like watching the games. It's fun, it's entertaining, it's like just throwing haymakers back and forth, but that's why you see in the tournament, you see a one seed like Purdue getting dominated by a substitute 16 seed. That's ridiculous. Yeah. Real quick before we end this segment, boys, I want you, I'm going to rapid-fire the rest of our Sunday slate, and I want you guys to just tell me who's going to win each game. So we got FDU against FAU tipping off here, right as we're speaking. Who we got winning that? Give me the substitute 16 seed. I was about to say, I want to see history being made tonight. Okay, right on. Baylor, Creighton are at halftime. Creighton's up by 10. Who we want? Creighton will probably win that. I'll say for my bracket, I want Baylor to win. I'll say that. All right, Baylor's going to come back for Jay there. Miami, Indiana, our second, or actually, the last Big Ten team, Michigan State made it. Right now, it's Indiana by one. I'll pick them. Oh, man. 5-V-4. Big Ten will choke. No way Big Ten has two teams in the sweet 16. Are you kidding me? Oh, come on. I want to see Indiana. I love the classic red and white unions, and it's Big Ten. Got to represent. Stupid striped warm-ups. We'll talk about my hatred of Indiana later. Last game, the nightcap, TCU, Gonzaga. The Zags making it again. This would be the sixth straight year to beat Michigan's record, or to tie Michigan's record, of six straight sweet 16. You know, I got to pick them. My wife has them winning it in her bracket. She would be very sad if they lost tonight. Go Zags. TCU, don't make it. Yeah, it's going to be sad. The staff lives on with Timmy. Drew Timmy is still there, isn't he? The ageless wonder. Is he a junior this year? He's leaving after this year. I don't know. Is he a COVID senior? But with that, that's going to conclude our college basketball segment. The second segment, I have a little game I devised. Bring it on. And it is going to be about the best moments of the past 15 years in March Madness. So I have here, I'm going to ask each of you five questions. If you can name the team or player in the first three questions, you get two points. I need you guys to keep track of points. Got it. If you can name it in the first three questions, you get two points. If you can name it in the next two, you get one point. And then I have some rapid fire at the end. Whoever, you know, gets it, wins. Just a simple little game here. Got it. Jay, you're going to be first. All right. This one is name the player. Are you ready? I am ready. No typing. Never my first bar open. You both keep an eye on each other. All right. First one is name the player. Number one. This player played in 2011. Number two. His team went 30 and four. Number three. This player was averaging 28.9 points a game. 2011, 34, 20.9. Number four. For one point. They lost to Florida in the Sweet 16. Okay. Number five. This player is from BYU. I have no idea. Do I get to steal? Just for good measure. You don't get any points. Do you have one more hint for me? You... He shoots the ball very far away. A lot of threes. He's winning. Does that help at all? Okay. So it's a tough first one, but... What is Jimmer for that? What is Jimmer? Jimmer range. So Jared, you get no points, but... That's rigged. That's all right. Now Isaac Rich. Name the team. 2016. Number one. Number two. 11-C. Number three. Paul Jefferson. Number four. Buzzer Beater. Number five. Texas loses to this team. Are they purple? Is it a purple... Northern Iowa. Northern Iowa is correct. That is one point. That is one point. Remember the half-court buzzer beater. What is Paul Jefferson? He's the guy who shot it. Paul Jefferson from half-court. Remember that? Oh, yeah. You were digging deep. All right. One point for Craich. Craich with the lead. All right. Jay. Name the team. Conference USA. Number one. Number two. 2016 in the year. Okay. Number three. 15-C. Okay. Number four. MSU loses to this team. MSU lost to this team? A 15-C. Number five. Giddy Pops. Does it start with a middle? I think it does. Middle. 10-C. Yes, sir. Giddy Pops. Right on. That's one to one for the boys. Good old Giddy Pops. Let's move back to Craich. Name the team. The rest of the team. That's all you've got. Just say it every time. Number one. 2013. Number two. NCAA tournament debut. Number two. Number three. One by 10. That's not going to help you at all. You pause after you say these. You're going to help me out. 2013. Oh, yeah. This is that kind of a tournament. 2013. Number four. They beat the Hoyas. Georgetown. Number five. Florida Gulf Coast. That's right. Head coach Andy Enzi. Wasn't that Lob City or something? Yes, Lob City. These hints are harder than I thought. You're telling me. I'm ahead of you. What does that put us up? Craich up to one? Yes. Here we go. No room for you, Jay, to tie it up. Name the team. The year. Number one. 2015. Number two. The team they beat had eight players declared for the draft in this particular game. Number three. The team they beat was also undefeated. Okay. Number four. The mascot for this team is in the Mustelidae family, which is the same family as the Wolverines. Wolverines. Number four and a half. This team is in the Big Ten. Number five. This team ended up going to the championship game and lost to Duke. Badgers? It is. Wisconsin. Nailed those. No, I might have been incorrect in my pronunciation of Mustelidae family. Give him an extra point. Hopefully we ain't got no scientists in here, man. Yeah, that's ridiculous. But, two to two. Back to Craich to regain the lead. Name the team. Number one. The famous celebrity for this college was born in 1919. Sister Jean. It is! That's two points! I love it. Oh, man. Four to two. Four. So where does that put our score to? I'm still at six. I have to get two for that because Jared got two points. That one was worth four points. Where does that put it? Really? That's true. Eight-six. And with that, Jay, with an incredible comeback, closes out our game segment. You just got to tip your cap sometimes to the more knowledgeable host. Big shout-out to Jay there. But that concludes our little best of the decade game. Now let's hop into our next segment. All right. So we're going to get into some of our e-sports talk nowadays. We're like hopping in the foot of a robot, and we're crafting a staff on Origins. It's come a long way. Holy smokes. Specifically, we haven't played Zombies in a couple years. Ever since Black Ops 3, I think that was probably the most notorious Zombies that we've actually... Like, memorable one. I don't think Black Ops 4. Speaking of Zombies, I have a very famous close relative of mine that is considered a Zombie professional that we will have to have on very soon to discuss more in-depth the Zombies with us. Is that celebrity Father Boo-Boos? It is Father Boo-Boos. Now, the day that he comes on will be an absolute treat. I tell you what. One of the boys. Yeah, he is one of the boys, absolutely. So, I would label us. Now, this is a very broad label. Because by no means are we professionals. No, no. Let's be clear about that. But, when I say, when I mention Call of Duty to people, I would say that we are competitive Call of Duty players. Now, I mention, when I say competitive, I'm not saying professional. It makes it sound more... So, what you're clarifying to the people, we play, not everybody plays with the intention to win, but we legitimately watch the pros, we learn rotations in certain game modes, and we play a lot longer than the recreational person would. Yeah, and I think... So, we would play Call of Duty. You know, we would play Zombies and stuff like that. Our multiplayer kind of passion stemmed from COVID. Yeah. Because I remember, and I guarantee you many of the listeners out there probably do as well, everything was shut down. And I vividly remember coming home at like 2 o'clock in the afternoon. How were you coming home from work? You weren't out. I mean, man, I worked at the retail industry. I don't think Home Depot gave a crap about whether I died or made it home safely. That's a whole other episode. Oh, my word. Don't even get me started on Home Depot. I got PTSD from that theme song. At least you're Forklift certified. I am Forklift certified. So, that is one fun fact of the day for you listeners. But, yes, to your point, video games are no longer, like World at War, Black Ops 2, video games are no longer played for fun. Every new video game that's out, besides solo games, have competitive modes in it. It is a business. Video games are now a massive business, not just for the people that produce them, but for content. Yes. I remember, for my 40-something-year-old father, it boggles his mind that I will hop on Twitch and watch somebody play... Shout out Twitch. Shout out Twitch. Somebody playing the CDL. To me, it's like, I think that this is just TV. It's TV for me. Now, describe what is CDL. So, CDL is the Professional COD League. It is almost like any other sport that you would watch. You've got teams, and they have a select amount of rules, certain weapons that you can use, certain maps that you play, and certain game modes. It literally is a sport. And they are professionals. These are legitimate professionals. I would say that we are on the higher-end caliber within the game's general public of playing. But I know for a fact that if we were to play against these pros, I mean, these dudes would absolutely just kick snot out of us. Yeah, we watch them stream, and they play with each other. Now, they don't necessarily play with their teammates. They play with other pro players in the league, and they're all just streaming, having a good time. One guy in one of their chats will say, hey, 50 gifted subs to all of you if you 250-0 this team. And they'll go out there on a hard point at the highest level of ranked play, which is the highest level that we could ever achieve in competitive modes, and they 250-0 teams. They practice it like professionals, too. They spend eight to 12 hours every single day working on their craft, just like a basketball player would spend eight hours a day shooting drills, pumping the iron. So they put in the work. People don't know much about it, so we're trying to shed some info on it. Absolutely. And another thing that makes the CDL super awesome is you take a game like, let's say, Destiny or Overwatch. It is the same exact reason. I don't know if you gentlemen have ever heard of a game called Counter-Strike Go. CS Go. CS Go. That is one of the most popular games today, and it's been out 20 years. The esports for that, the professional league, does so well, it's because it's easy to understand. If I watch CDL at no point in time, if I was to take me and Creech's 98-year-old great-grandmother and stuck her in front of that, maybe she might have some tough time because she can't see, but she would be able to... It's her birthday tomorrow. It is her birthday tomorrow. Shout out GG. Shout out GG. Shout out GG. It's easy to understand, and my question is for you, my two friends at the table. We have played, specifically ranked play, TML ended Modern Warfare 2019, Cold War, Vanguard, and now Modern Warfare 2. Where do you think Modern Warfare 2 ranks amongst those games that we have played, ranked play in? For me personally, it's the nostalgia part and playing with friends, but COVID of 2019, playing Modern Warfare, we spent way too many hours every single night because we were all home and had nothing other to do. We would run search lobbies. You could only put six in the search S&D lobby, and we had 10 guys in the party. We'd swap four out every single game, and we'd be on all night. Yeah, there was a lot of pressure for a guy like me who's not great, to say the least. If you're not top two on the leaderboard, you're getting subbed out. I mean, you're sitting out for 20 minutes. There was a lot of pressure. The hardwood classic, though, that would happen between Craich here and our friend Noah. I mean, that was always a headache in itself. Yeah, we would always go back and forth, being most often the worst two on the team, just battling out in a search game. It's like, oh man, Noah got his third kill of the round. I'm sitting at two. Got to pick it up here. And we would just go back and forth, and both of us get subbed out. So the Xbox app on your phone, you can check how much time you have logged in. Oh, stop. If you have the Call of Duty app, you can specifically see how many hours you have played on a certain game mode. Stop it. Take a shot at what you think my play time is on Search and Destroy alone in that game. Modern Warfare 2019? Modern Warfare 2019. You probably played 20 days worth? I played roughly over 550 hours on Search and Destroy alone. Just that thing alone. That's ridiculous. But you love to see it. That's what I say. That's the kind of hours I put into Fortnite, sadly. Oh, yeah. Something ridiculous like that. So we've grinded Cold War, Vanguard, and Modern Warfare 2. And ranked play specifically. And ranked play specifically. Out of those three, how would you rank them? And then we can move on to our NFL segment. Vanguard last. Vanguard last. Cold War is going to be... It had its good parts to it. I liked how you could see the health. Correct me if I'm wrong. You could see the health. And it was a slower time to kill. Yes. You die very quickly in the one now, which is kind of frustrating. I don't know yet, because we haven't been through the whole season of this MW2 ranked play. We haven't even had maps added. It has the least favorite map of all time in Fortress Control. Oh. That is... Yeah, that would be bad. That hurts me. So I don't know yet, but I do know for sure Vanguard is the worst. Yeah, I would agree with that. So you would... I would say Vanguard worse. I'd put the COVID Modern Warfare 2019. That was probably my favorite. I think we peaked. We peaked at that moment. We didn't really mess with ranked play then. We just played Surge competitively, because it is still the same experience, right? They put you up. Skill-based matchmaking. Exactly. Are you talking for ranked play? No, for Surge in 2019. Oh, Surge and Destroy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was still skill-based. I would say in terms of a ranked play format, because 2019's ranked play format didn't come out until the very, very end of that game's life cycle. Cold War, solid game, but they had so many bugs and issues with their matchmaking. It was atrocious. I forgot about that. Vanguard, it just tripled in which I would get kicked from a party or I would get kicked from a game. Modern Warfare 2, it seems like they've perfected ranked play. Granted, you have... Do you read that set off? Just real quick. It's up on the Xbox app. The 2019 Modern Warfare, I played 43 days, 5 hours and 58 minutes of it. Ridiculous. Rookie numbers. Holy... 43 days out of a 6-month game cycle. Yeah. Of a Call of Duty. That is impressive. COVID made us do some wild things. Real quick, and we'll get on to our last segment here. To the NFL. I want you guys, just hit me with random days until you get it. Fortnite, how many days did I put in? 72. 120. Under. 118. Under. 107. Higher. 108. Higher. 12. 15. 11. 111 days and 12 hours I have played Fortnite. I have done Fortnite the other day. It was actually kind of fun. It was a really good game. I'll be the one to admit it. But shout out eSports. We do cover these. We'll definitely dive into Call of Duty, maybe in one episode, and go over Fortnite. Other competitive eSports that are played, Rocket League, stuff like that. We want to definitely cover those. We'll have some varying things that we'll talk about specifically, because I play PC, and Craich and Dee play on the Xbox format. So I typically move around to other games as well. So I can provide some... I specifically will play like CFGO, or Valorant, or League of Legends. So I can provide some smaller updates on that. But I would say the stories alone would make the eSports segment. I mean, obviously we'll cover OpTic and LAVs. And we'll cover the upcoming Call of Duty season that's still ongoing. Absolutely, yeah. But I think the proper way to end today's episode is to get into some NFL trades. Now... Grade that trade. Grade that trade. Okay? Let's start with the number one overall... We got the Bears as the number one overall pick. And they trade that, if I'm not mistaken, to the Carolina Panthers. Correct. And they get some picks. And... DJ Moore. Because they have Justin Fields already. Yeah. And he didn't have any really... He was a solid quarterback. He just didn't have weapons. Well, let's throw it back real quick. Before that trade. How monumental is it that the Texans inexplicably won their game against the Colts to end the season? Where they could have just thrown at any point. And all this is now being done. They could have had the number one pick and got a quarterback. But now the Bears, essentially for free, are getting all of this stuff because another team has to trade with them for the number one pick. Who was the coach for that? Levy Smith? Yes. He burned the program on it last year. Yeah. He knew he was going to get fired. So in response, he just gave the organization a little finger and just walked out and was like, I'm going to win this game and I'm just going to take it. Former Bears coach too, wasn't he? He better be throwing for the Bears. Oh. He might still be in with the Bears. Yeah. Yeah. That's crazy. But back to our number one pick being traded. The Bears gave it up. Mm-hmm. I would give the Bears probably like an A-minus on that deal. I mean, they got an absolute haul. It's obviously the number one pick. But they played, they have a new GM, young GM. But he played the game right to where other teams didn't, he didn't release his hand. Like he didn't show his hand. He didn't tip his hand. He kept the cards close to his chest and said, we might just use this number one pick on a defensive player that we really like. So the other teams that were, they had leverage is what I'm essentially trying to say. The Bears had leverage. He used it well and was able to get a haul for the number one pick. The GM or his name. I think he's, he's not bad. He's a wide receiver one. Yeah. And so I've been on this earth for 23 years and throughout that time, would you guys say that Fields is probably the best quarterback you have seen the Bears have in the past 20 years? You're comparing him to Jake Cutler. Cutler's literally the only one that comes to mind. Rex Grossman. Yeah, I mean, probably. What, he's been here two years now? One year? 2020 was his last year, wasn't it? I think he's been there, I think he's been in the league two years. He looked really good. He's the only thing that held the Bears together. Yeah, here. Yeah. He's definitely shown enough potential to where they could make this move and not draft a quarterback. He's shown growth, which is huge for a quarterback like that. But speaking of quarterbacks, I prefaced this with crates before the game. We have a Packers fan in the building. Loud and proud. I'm going to leave this as open as possible. Your thoughts, Aaron Rodgers, Packers, darkness retreat, thoughts, Jared, on the podcast. What you got for us? Aaron Rodgers, he's a fickle mistress to say the least. He's such a weird guy. Being a Packers fan my whole life, it's been awesome to watch him. He's been elite for pretty much my whole life. Back-to-back MVPs. Yep, even when you think he's done, he comes back and wins a couple MVPs. Obviously had some bad playoff runs and some bad playoff luck overall for just the Packers in general. He's an interesting figure. As much as he tried to pave his own path and be different than Brett Favre, it ended eerily similar. We don't know yet, but it's going to end eerily similar. All signs are pointing to that. At this point, I think I'm ready. I'm kind of done with all the BS. I'm done with the darkness retreat. I'm done with the pot smoking hippie drugs. Whatever he does that gets him right for these games and stuff. I'm ready to move on, I think, and test out the... Nervously dip my toes into the water. I'm about to ask if you love it. We haven't seen him play. What are the Packers going to get for him if they do trade him? How is he going to work? A win, an A for me, is two first-round picks. Really? Yeah, two first-round picks would be solid. Send him off. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. If you're only getting one first-round pick, it's like, come on, it's Aaron Rodgers. You should be able to net a little more. Not this year, but the previous year he won the MVP. Yeah, his stock would have never gone higher. He tanked it pretty hard last year. Yeah, last year was bad. From what I've been seeing, I think it's pretty clear with the moves Aaron Rodgers is making in the offseason. He doesn't want to be with the Packers. No, he's burned every bridge. He's burned the bridge there, and on top of that, I don't think the... So you have Aaron Rodgers coming off a pretty awful season. You have him burning the bridge with the Packers, and you basically have the Packers who are like, we don't want this guy either. So really, the Packers don't have much leverage going into any type of trade. They kind of have shown their cards. That's why I'm saying they're not going to get a hold off for him, I don't think, and he's washed. Yeah, that's what I was talking about with the Bears. The Bears played it right with the leverage game and all that. The Packers have not, and I don't know if it's entirely their fault or Rodgers' fault or what, but everyone in the world and their brother knows that Aaron Rodgers doesn't want to be there. So how hard is it to trade a dude and get value from a guy that doesn't want to be where he is? Yeah, that's true. Let me briefly mention some big names that have kind of gone, and if you guys have thoughts on it, just let me know. We got Darren Waller. He headed to the Giants. We got Carr to the Saints, Derrick Carr. We have Brandon Cooks to the Cowboys. That, that, I'm going to stop you on that one. That one I think is very interesting. That just came out today. Pairing him, he's a little slot guy. He can let, so Stevie Lamb can be on the outside and do his thing. I think that's a really deadly combo. And he's been under the radar because he's been on the Texans who have no quarterbacks. Yeah. I mean, what do you get? Davis Mills throwing to him last year? Mills mafia, man. I think Brandon Cook could be a good fantasy in the football industry. And move to Dak Prescott who's got an eye for interceptions if they don't want him. I mean, it's not like Brandon Cooks is ever getting a ring anytime soon. But at least they're freeing up some cap space getting rid of Zeke. True, true. Last, big free agent pick-up, Jalen Ramsey to the Dolphins. I know there's some talk here in Detroit that some Detroiters want him, but he had no intentions to go to Detroit. No, I'm going from L.A. to Miami. Yeah. He's ring-chasing. Let's be honest. Okay? Dolphins are stacked in this offseason. Yeah. And we literally just saw him go from the Rams, which was a super team. Then they crashed and burned. And then we see them, him now going to the Dolphins with, you know, let's hope that to a limited concussion to only six this year. But if you can stay healthy, but he's ring-chasing, let's be honest here. Last thing before we close out this show. Mm-hmm. Let me ask you about two players. Yep. Derrick Henry, what's happening to him? I think he stays. I think he ends up back in Tennessee. Tennessee has kind of built everything around him. Yeah. He's a fan favorite there. Yeah. You'd be trading away your whole identity if you were Derrick Henry in another uniform. No. Isn't it also Ryan Tannehill's contract is up? And I think it's like Tannehill and Henry's is up. And it's like if... Having to pay him both. If we're talking cap space, who are you... Are you going with a running back that's had kind of a rough year? You don't pay a running back. Well, we did just see Pacheco, the seventh-round pick, turn into the starter for the Chiefs in the warm-suit bowl. Yeah. Hey, that dude's a little demon. But the Chiefs also have a way better quarterback than Ryan Tannehill. Yeah. It's kind of hard to compare, but I'm on the train as well. You don't really want to pay running backs, especially... I heard this. Henry has a lot of wear on those tires. Yeah. He carries the ball like a bell cow. No one does that anymore in today's NFL. It takes him quite a bit of time for him to actually ramp up to full speed. I tell you what, when he gets to full speed... He's a great truck, yeah. That's wild. Last question. Lamar Jackson, what's up? I like Lamar Jackson. I wish for Ravens to just pay. I think he's hilarious. Every post-game presser, he cracks me up. I hope someone pays him. I think there's actually a fan that for every win the Ravens get, he gets a tattoo of the opposing team. And the big one that he got now it's just says pay Lamar. Lamar. Lamar Hamlin. Lamar Hamlin. Thoughts on Lamar Hamlin. Thoughts on Lamar Hamlin. That's a whole other episode. Is he alive? He's been replaced by a clone. Pay Lamar Jackson, not Lamar. But I think, listen, Harbaugh's a smart coach. I think he's gonna make something happen. Obviously it's up in the offices, but I think there will be an agreement because, I mean, Ravens are nothing without him. I respect that. Well, we want to thank you again, Craigs, for being on this episode. Of course, thanks for having me. Absolutely. Any final thoughts? Thank you so much. Any final thoughts? No, we don't thank you too much, no. We actually, we need your input over here. Well, clearly Jay over here has a little bit more college basketball knowledge so you might want to rush up on that. Next episode, kind of getting into our Sweet 16 matchups. And then we also have the CDL picking up again next weekend. Yes. So we'll go into that a little bit more in-depth. I've got fellows. John. March, in my humble opinion, is one of the best months of the entire year outside of football season. Okay? Anything else? No. Enjoy the episode. Enjoy the episode. That's gonna wrap up episode two of Set City. See you next time. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye.
