In this episode of Gentleman's Agreement, the hosts discuss their recent golf outing at a new course called Dutch Hollow. They played in teams and ended up playing 18 holes instead of the planned 9. One team started off behind but managed to catch up, only to lose by one stroke in both rounds. They discuss their individual performances and highlight some impressive shots. They also mention a funny incident involving a misplaced ball and a loud fart. Overall, they had a great time and enjoyed the nice weather. Welcome back to another episode of Gentleman's Agreement. Today we've got episode 10, the Bogey Boys are back in town. We give, in this episode we give a live episode on a golf outing we had today. We do a dive into the Tigers. Actually we're doing a live look right now. We also go into a little bit of the Call of Duty League, NBA Championship Recap, NHL Championship Recap, and then also a live reporting on the College World Series. It was a good week. Good to have all three of us on the pod again. Yeah, a little bit different format today. We are actually sitting in my living room, so if you do eventually hear a door open and close, that's why. On a Saturday night, it's busy here in the in the green household, but sit back, grab a bite to eat, maybe a drink, and enjoy the episode. All right, as we said earlier, we did go golfing today. A little different schedule. We're doing this on a Saturday, but boys, let's talk about a little golf session we had today. We tried a little new course today, so we were getting outside our comfort zone. Typically we go to Genesee Valley, but we were like, you know we're gonna switch it up, try out the course Dutch Hollow. And overall, I would say, what are you guys thoughts on the course? I thought it was nice. It was pretty wide open. A little bit of water here and there, but no major traps, sand traps, stuff like that. It was a nice course. Pretty forgiving. Rather than doing our standard, like, singles. You go around, you play your own score, you play your own ball. We decided to team it up today. We let the tee decide. Yep, we did a little tee flip, and the teams ended up being D&I, and then Krech and Ben, who has also been on the podcast. And we actually were only gonna play nine, but we ended up going 18. What do you guys want to say, how the matchup went? Well, Ben and I sucked at the beginning and found ourselves down, like, I think three or four strokes. Kind of midway through that. We were only playing, like Jake said, we're only planning on playing nine. So we're like, we got to pick this thing up. We're running out of holes. And we ended up doing that and bringing it back. We got to the ninth hole and we were down two strokes. So doable. And Ben had some really good hits to get us. I think we got a par on that hole. And Jake and Dan had a really tough chip onto the green, but they got it. And then they needed a conservative putt to make it a gimme, but it was a really downhill putt. So if they hit this thing a little too hard, it could have gotten away on them. So we were hoping they would do that, but they didn't. And they ended up going and winning by one stroke. But we said, heck that, we're having a good time. Let's do another nine. And same thing happened though. We lost by one stroke at the end of that. It was literally deja vu because we got a big early and the last couple holes we double bogeyed and bogeyed and you guys got par. In our defense, Dan and my defense, we were up by like what, three or four strokes? Three strokes going into the eighth hole. On hole like seven or eight, we had like a nice, you know, like all we had to do was literally just lay it up. It was like we were just off the fringe in the rough, right before the green, and I was like, you know what, I'm gonna try something I saw on TikTok. So I grabbed a three wood and I was like, you know, I've never seen somebody putt with a three wood from the rough, have you? And safe to say, it did not work out well at all. But there was one hole where we had, like, Krejci and I had some solid drives and we smoked them out to like what, 300 or something? Yeah, we were getting some good distance on our drives occasionally. So there was one hole, I think it was like the seventh hole, we, both teams of two birdied the hole because we both had really good drives and then our second shots were, Jake in particular, was right next to the pin and mine wasn't too far off enough for a pretty comfortable putt. So we don't birdie often, so for both of the, both teams to birdie on the same hole was pretty impressive. I will say, from watching, from going golfing for the first time back in like, I don't know, April or May till now, where, what was the score today? It was 82 to 83 we won. Yeah, our score was 82 to 83, two man scramble teams. Our golf play today was miles ahead than what we were at the very beginning. I don't think I hit, like, the first time I went on golf this year, I don't think I hit a single fairway. I sliced it like a hundred yards to the right and I hit a couple. Yo, you hit some fairways, just different holes. The first though, the front nine or the back nine, my driver was doing pretty well, but then I was, I had a few off shots on the front. Nothing too, too worrisome. Yeah, I think I was most pleased with my pitching game today. Yeah. That was kind of where I was trying to pick up the team, but Jake had some really good drives. It was, it was maddening for Ben and I, because every time we would get to our second shot, we'd be eyeing up the green, and all of a sudden we would see a neon green soccer ball, which is one Dan was hitting, or one of Jake's balls, just flying onto the green and landing right next to the pin. We, we were talking, we were like, I don't think these guys have had to make a pressure putt of more than a couple feet all day today. They've just put everything right next to the pin, and it was true, they, they, credit to them, they were just dialed in. That's what I kept saying to Jake, like one of us just has to do it, and we kept just building off each other. I think there was a couple holes we literally alternated every shot. Yeah. We used Jake's drive, used my wood, used Jake's pitch, used my putt, and then we'd take the final putt. I think, I was pretty happy, like overall, how do you guys feel like you guys, your personal play was today? I wasn't happy with my drives, but everything else I was pretty, pretty okay with. I think I would have, I would have been okay with today. We definitely took a few more shots of mine than I would have thought with Ben as my partner, because Ben is a good, good amount better than all of us. I'd say Dan and Jake are a little better than me, and then Ben is a good, good head above the rest of us in terms of consistency and stuff like that. He was a little off today himself. I think he would be the first one to admit that he didn't play his best today, but yeah, I would say we took a few more of my balls than I was expecting, so I was overall happy with how I played. Like, I would say like for me, the biggest thing I've been trying to work on is just like making like solid contact, but I would say out of, I think I only had one hole that was like complete shambles. I told Dan as we hit up the back end, I was like, I have one goal today, and that is to only miss, like lose one ball, and sure enough on hole 7, as I'm about ready to tee off, Ben lifts his right leg and just lets out the most egregious fart you've ever heard in my entire life. I thought it was fake. I was down by the carts, and I thought it was fake. I was like, oh, Ben's just trolling Jake. I changed the ball, and Ben just starts dying laughing. He's like, no, no, no, man, you're totally fine. You can, you can hit another one. Well, I, in my mind, I thought I just lost like a $5 Pro-V one, so I'm still like, gosh dang it, like I'm not over it, and then I just dropped a random ball that I picked up out of the grass that I had found, just like a throwaway, and then I just tossed the crap out of that one. I was like, well, this is just not a good hole, but we did salvage it for just, just a bogey, I thought, wasn't it? We ended up getting a double on that hole. I think, because I remember Jared asked me, and I was like, yep, because we had it super far right, then we both chipped over the green, yeah, brought it back on, and then two-putt it. Yeah, that was our worst hole of the entire, the entire ride. No, our worst hole is when you took your wood out for the putt. We got a seven on that hole. Oh yeah, that got us back in the game a little bit. We weren't even trying on that hole, we were just memeing. Yeah, that was bad. That was bad. We and Dan almost got absolutely smoked by another golfer today out on the course. Yeah, we're lining up trying to chip onto the green, I mean, pretty close to our hole, I mean, I don't think we were considered on his hole, I think we're still on our hole, and he just nukes the ball. It lands 15 yards from us, which, you know, you think 15 yards, it's not that close, but when you're just in the middle of the green grass, and you hear this, oh, are we, did Miggy just get a strike count violation? We're watching the Tigers live, and I think Miggy just struck out on a pitch clock violation. He wasn't ready in time. Oh, Miggy. Anyway, so what were we talking about? We were talking about almost getting hit by that ball. Oh yeah, so it lands 15 yards, and the guy, like, just no four, nothing. I think Jared had one hit at the beginning of the day, where he didn't even see it, and Jake yelled four just in case there was someone, like, it doesn't hurt to say something, you know, have people at least be alert, and the guy just ended up driving up and apologizing, but overall, perfect weather today. A little hot. Nice and hot, but good conditions, and overall, the main reason we lost today was, like we were talking about earlier, Jake and Dan covered for each other really well. Like, if one of them had a bad hit, the other would stroke a nice one. If, you know, they never really had both of them have bad hits. A couple times, Ben and I both chunked our irons, or both had bad drives, or something like that, so we couldn't quite get on the same page, and then even if Ben would say he wasn't on his A game today, there were still a couple holes that I remember that, oh, we took Ben's drive, oh, we took Ben's approach, oh, and Ben made the putt. You know, Jake had his own legit birdie on a par four, where we took all three of his shots. You had, I think it was like a hole after that, that you actually, like, just crushed his drive. Then we, like, I crushed the drive, got right next to the green on a par four, and then we still got a par. Yeah, but I will say, Ben almost killed a goose out on the links today. Oh, yeah. That was the one where the geese were walking across the green, and Ben hit the pitch out of the green, and almost killed the thing. So, a quick update for the Tigers here. I think Miggy is claiming that the clock out in center field that he pays attention to is frozen. It looked like the number 34 is just frozen on it, so now, like, he didn't know how much time he had left, and the ump called him out. But, yeah, Tigers are up 3-0 as we speak against the Twins on national television. I guess we can segue to the baseball real quick. Yeah, let's talk Tigers a little bit. So, I saw this the other day on my SportsCenter app. I was like, Tigers are on Fox. I told Dee, I was like, I can't remember the last time the Tigers are playing nationally televised baseball, or on a nationally televised channel, you know. They've always been on Valley the last five, six years because they've been terrible. You gotta be good to get on, you know, national television. We made it to Peacock, really. Yeah, I don't know how we made it to Fox, but here we are, because we're still good. We're up 3-0 against the Twins. The number one team in our division. Right. We are only four and a half games back. I think it's five and a half after the loss yesterday. Oh, yes, you're right. But still, to be, the Tigers are ten games under 500, I'm pretty sure. Yep. And they're only five and a half back from first place in the division. Still very much within striking range. I think, nice little base knock by Haas. I think, since our last podcast, the Tigers had not gone on the nine-game losing streak, or we're in the middle of it. I think they're in the middle of it, probably. But that, I mean, you'll look back and I think that'll be our worst streak of the season, but that just kills a season. I mean, losing nine, ten straight games is just brutal. Like, you have to, that's two full rotations for your starting pitchers in which you don't get wins. So, I mean, yeah, we've been injury prone. We have a lot of guys on the injury list, but that's year after year. I don't know what we do wrong, but. In terms of, so at the very beginning you said the biggest thing that would capture your attention with the Tigers is they kind of hang around or just at least perform mediocre at best. Mm-hmm. Are they meeting that expectation? Are they? I think most definitely. I mean, to be five and a half games back, middle, late June, that's definitely mediocre. And I would say it's not even, it's not as much what the Tigers are doing themselves, it's the lack of what the Twins are doing. The Tigers right now, with their record in most years of baseball, should be ten plus games out of first place. Yeah, what's funny is. The Twins should be five or six games above 500 and the Twins are right now at 500 or below. Maybe one game. That's a good point. Well, they're on a three game win streak, so I think they're one over. So what's funny that you mentioned that, the Twins, before this series against the Tigers, were playing against Boston Red Sox. Going into that series, the Twins were top of our division at like 36 and 36. Boston was bottom of the division at 37 and 35. A better record than the top team in our league, but they're the bottom in their own division. That shows how bad our division is. Yeah, the AL East is pretty wicked. But yeah, so like, to answer your question, Jake, yes, the Tigers have done enough to keep me interested, but in most typical years, if just our first place team in the division was having a normal year, I'd be a lot less interested. But right now, you know, you can only control what your team does. It's honestly pathetic, but I'm more interested in seeing just certain players on this team develop and that's being held back by injury right now. So I want to see young pitchers play well and I'm stuck watching Reese Olsen. And Joey Wentz. Well, also, we have the college champion series going on. What's the score right now? Does anybody know? If I'm not mistaken, last time I checked, it was 2-1 LSU. Oh, so Florida scored. Florida did score, so it's the top of the board. But yeah, so it's still LSU 2, Florida 1. The game won, best out of the three. And LSU's an exciting team. I'm surprised they're not favored. They're ranked below Florida. Because everything I see online is LSU's got all these great prospects for the draft. Yeah, like Paul Skeens and what was the batter? Dayla Cruz. Cruz. Cruz, yep. He could go number one. It has been fun looking at all the different, like the LSU crowd, just like as you're watching the champion series, they fan throughout the crowd and you're just like, yep, these are definitely fans from Louisiana. They just look mangled. And it is the funniest thing. You said they ate all their crawdads. There's been a couple dads in the stands who are like, yep, they have definitely devoured a couple pounds of crawdads in a single setting. Tell us about the LSU's jello shop. Dude, so they're enjoying themselves. Barstool Sports has been kind of keeping like a running tab on this. So shout out to part of my tape. They've been keeping me updated. But there is a bar in like downtown Omaha. Where is this? Is it the World Series? That's what they call it? The College World Series? That is keeping like they had a chalkboard with all of the teams. And basically what you would do is if you were a fan and you went into this bar, every jello shot that you ordered, they would like mark down a tally mark of how much and they would keep scoring us like what fan base bought the most jello shots. LSU fan base has so far completely smoked the competition and they've ordered like some like ridiculous 60,000 jello shots. Just from this single bar alone. I'm surprised they've been able to supply 60,000 jello shots. Like they've been like just utterly ridiculous with their numbers and it's so funny. But this has just been a recurring, sorry this Tuesday commercial has really piqued my interest, I'm sorry. But it's just been like just the most wild like little tally mark and that's just kind of the fun things that you'll see whenever you get a, you just don't see that in the MLB and that's the fun thing that you can do when you get into the College World Series. They're there, I don't, I'm not a College World Series expert, but how long are they there in Omaha? You have to make it there, you don't even start the playoffs there. I think you have to make it there, I don't know if it's the top four or the top 16. Something like that. So they're there a good two to three weeks probably at least. Yeah. Maybe a month. I mean college sports are so unique because yeah they're technically in college but I bet you a lot of these players aren't taking legit classes. What? The fine institution known as LSU? Yeah, you kidding me? Yeah, speaking of that, a little transition here. Can we talk about how Michigan doesn't let people in still because of their academic requirements? Yeah. We missed out on Caleb Love the transfer from North Carolina this year who would have been our best player because of academics and we lost Hunter Dickinson because we don't pay him enough money. And the thing with Caleb Love is he's coming, what makes it even more ridiculous is he's coming from North Carolina. Like that's a pretty nice university in itself. That's enough, that's, it's not like LSU. They take real classes at North Carolina and stuff like that so he's not coming from some community college that wow we're Michigan and we can't accept your credit. So I don't, I don't get it. And speaking of Michigan, gentlemen, this might tick a couple of you off. Juwan Howard had two lottery picks on his team last year in Jett Howard and Kobe Buffkin who went top 15 in the NBA draft and Hunter Dickinson and we didn't make the tournament. That is the first time in the NCAA tournament history since they expanded to 64 teams that a team with two top picks like that didn't make it. That's crazy. I didn't hear that stat but it's all the more evidence that if Juwan, A, he should probably be gone right now. That should be probably all you need to see to fire a dude but they won't. So if things go south quickly into early next year, he needs to be gone. I mean there was a lot of talent, not, okay, I won't say a lot but there was enough talent on that team last year to where you should be definitely making the tournament and definitely not being, will we finish eighth or ninth in the Big Ten, you know? I mean, I mean, think, just boil it down. Yeah, Jett was injured like, like you mentioned. Jett was injured a decent amount of the year. Doug McDaniel was a fine Big Ten point guard. He got his eight ten points a game, couple assists, didn't make any huge turnovers. Kobe got his 17, Hunter got his 17 and we still lost all these games. Like I just, and I think we were breaking Big Ten records for like one score games lost with Howard and all that but it was unacceptable. Last year was coming from what B-Line laid, you know. A foundation that he laid, yes. And then to have Juwan just, Juwan comes in, wins the Big Ten that one year, I think COVID year and then, oh yeah, because we had a higher percentage win than Illinois, although Illinois had more wins. So we got the Big Ten title and now, and then he's beating up coaches, talks a bunch of smack, gets ejected from games and here he is and I'm making the tournament now with fantastic players. Yeah, he's sitting right next to his son, which cool moment, really cool moment for him and Jett, obviously for his son to be drafted 11th overall in the NBA, following in his footsteps. But for him to be sitting, that's got to be a double-edged sword that like he's sitting next to the 11th best player that the NBA valued and not far behind him at another table is the 15th best player. And that's not even the 11th best college player because a couple of those guys that weren't above didn't play in college. Yeah, those are G-League overseas players like Wim Ben-Yama, stuff like that. So really talented players. You're sitting there in that room like, top 10 college players. All these guys were on my team and we were just mediocre at best. Like I don't even remember really, like his son really topping off for Michigan. He did early in the year and then Big Ten play hit and he didn't do much. Yeah, like his son didn't stand out to me. Well, the problem was he doesn't play defense. Yeah, he could light it up and shoot and shimmy and shake. He was all bark, no bite. He didn't have that defense and I think another year would have benefited him a lot because he was a little undersized, a little skinny. You know, if he bulked up and played another year in the Big Ten, he'd probably be a real, real nice player and stuff. But yeah, the defense was sketchy. But once again, once again, why stay at Michigan when you can go make your money in the NBA because Michigan ain't going to pay you. Yeah, yep. I don't understand our NIL deals. Maybe it's all going to the football program. Which at this point, who cares? Send it all there. Well, what does B technically out of that, who did we recently hire? It was new president or who did we recently hire? Yeah, he's like two years, but he's all for athletics. The new president is. I thought he was strictly academic. That was the, that was the, started with an S. I can't remember. It's not a, it's an oriental name. No, I'm talking about the former guy started with an S. And yes, you're right, Jake. He was all academics. But this new guy, claims to be Santa Ona. Santa Ona, that's his name. Yeah. He is a fan boy of Jim Harbaugh. I mean, every right to be, but any more with, oh, since we're rapping about the NBA, let's talk about a little bit about the finals. I know it was last week. Dude. Yes. Jokic pulled it off, baby. He did. I want to talk about the app. Did you guys watch Jokic after they won the finals? He was just so casual. That was the funniest thing. Cause you're expecting, you know, everyone gives these dramatic interviews. Like I've been working my whole life for this. This is my dream. I love this team for the city, for the fans, this whole speech, right? The typical speech. He gets up there and says, it's a job. The job's done now. I can go home. He treated it like he got done with like a 10 hour shift at Walgreens. Man, it's just a job. I get to go home now. But even after he grabs his MVP trophy, goes up to the podium the second time after the game's over, just leaves the MVP trophy. And they talked to him a couple of days. I don't know where that is. I have no idea where it is. He just like didn't care about it. Sometimes like some people just, yeah, it's their job, but they just don't like, I don't know how to describe it. You can tell the passion isn't all the way there. He's just so dang good. I feel like big men almost like are the people that probably enjoy basketball the least. Cause like you get banged around, they just get banged around and it takes so much more of a, like just toll on your body. I mean, if you're like his size, like seven something, I think, and weighing that much, like, I mean. I thought I saw one of his teammates talking about his off season too. He just goes home, gets fat, chills all off season and then like two weeks before. He rides his horses, dude. Horse racing. Yeah, he's all about horse racing. He's bigger than the horse. I don't know if that's a big thing over in Serbia or not, but definitely his passion. Basketball is just a hobby. Dude, he loves horse racing, but horse racing for them, rather than like what we have in here, we're at like the Kentucky Derby, where it's like the jockey's on horseback. They have two horses pull the jockey in a cart, in a chariot style. And he loves that stuff. That is hilarious. They talked to him in that interview. So in that interview, I said, they're like, where's your trophy? I was like, I don't know. They mentioned to him, they're like, so are you excited for the parade? He's like, what? They're like, yeah. He wasn't going to go, yeah. He had no intentions of wanting to do that, but then they showed whatever it was. He was happy that he ended up going. The whole Denver Nuggets team, like the head coach was like utterly just sloshed out of his mind. Jamal Murray. He was like, we're running this crap back. And then Jogic got on the mic, he's like, I like parade. I like parade a lot. They're going to have the biggest, it's like in the NFL, the Superbowl hangover. They're going to have the biggest title hangover next year. They're just going to be terrible. Yeah. That was their first championship. Denver's never won the NBA championship. So kudos to them. I don't think anybody can be mad at them winning. Nope. I was rooting for the Heat, but it didn't matter. I was like, yeah, because the other thing about Jogic, which is funny, they beat the Lakers. And it was so casual. He just untied his shoes, walked off the court, and they were just focused on LeBron after the series. But Jogic was just super casual. Guess we're going to play the Heat in the final. Yeah. And the Nuggets did have a pretty easy road to the finals. But for people saying like, oh, they didn't run through the gauntlet to get there. They were the number one seed in the West. So that's what you grind all year in the regular season for, is to get that one thing. You get to play the worst team. A couple things fell their way, and there you go. Well, the Warriors weren't going to beat them either, even if they did make it. They were clearly the best team. Yeah. And the Heat, I mean, there was nothing the Heat did wrong. They just had no one to stop. Kimmy Butler fizzled out towards the end of the playoff run. Tork base hit. Quick update. Tork got a base hit. We did put together a parlay today for the Tigers and included a Tork base hit, Reese Olsen, three-plus strikeouts, no runs in the first inning, and the Tigers to cover a one-and-a-half point spread. And so far, everything is looking good. The only thing that needs to happen now is? To cover. To cover. We're up three-nothing in the bottom of the fifth. Stay tuned, though, on the pod. Bet can go south really fast. Anyway, so yeah, the Heat, Kimmy Butler, I mean, you can't really blame him too much. He's the one that got him there. I'm sure he would admit that he didn't have his best series, you know, but that also comes with the Nuggets defend pretty well, and they were all over him, and he just wasn't feeling it like he was in the other series, but the Heat just got outclassed. They ran out of dudes. The Nuggets were the better team. I mean, you got Bam trying to go up. Who else? Thompson. Thompson was playing defense. Tristan Thompson. Tristan Thompson was playing defense. You got Kevin Love out there. Kevin Love. It's like, okay, it's not 2010. It was your Walmart employee team against the best team in the NBA, which is weird. Like, nobody's talking about it because LeBron is still playing, and all these crazy players are getting traded, but Jokic is solely building one of the most impressive careers already. I mean, he brings Denver to the first championship. Doesn't he have two MVPs? Should have won three. Just, that's insane in and of itself. Also, kind of a shift in the NBA. The last three teams that won, or I don't know if it was the last three teams that won titles, but the three best players in the league now are all big men. You got Jokic, you got Giannis, and you got Joel Embiid. Those are like the three best players in the league, and they're all three huge big men. Usually, you see the stuff like that, the sexy players. These guys, the big men now are kind of running the league, which is interesting. That is a good point, which is funny because if big men are running the league, did you guys see that the three big men from college basketball didn't get drafted? The guy from UConn, Drew Timmy, and one other guy didn't get drafted. Oh, yeah, that's true. I didn't hear Drew Timmy's name called. Who cares? Yeah, screw Drew Timmy. Also, the trade that went down this week. With Paul George? No. Was it Chris Paul? I was thinking about the Chris step. Chris Paul is with the Warriors. Yeah, didn't he get drafted to the Wizards for 30 seconds, and now he's a Warrior, and Jordan Poole is no longer a Warrior. I think they may have covered it up well, but I don't think he and Draymond got along too well. Definitely, and I hated seeing Poole get traded because I like the Warriors. They're fun. I've always liked Curry and Thompson and the way they play and all that, and then they added one of my favorite players, Jordan Poole, obviously from Michigan, and it was like, you know, all the more reason to root for him, but now that Poole's gone, it's like, eh. Where did he go? He got traded to the Wizards. You will not hear about him for the rest of his career. Nope. He went to basketball prison. Yeah, but I think that's enough NBA talk from my brain. Did we wrap up hockey? I don't think so. That was another beatdown where clearly, this goes back to what Jared mentioned in March Madness where too many upsets lead to bad finals. The NBA, too many, the Heat won too many series. It should have been the Celtics nuggets, so it was a bad finals. Once again, the Panthers, they ran out of gas. They were not one of the top four teams in the NHL, so when they showed up against the Golden Knights, they were not competitive. Nope. It was the games, I mean, the final game that won it for the Golden Knights, the fifth game, what was it, like six to two at the end of the third, at the end of the second period? Yeah, didn't it end up being like nine to three? Yeah. Like, what is this? Is this even hockey? Yeah, so you love to see upsets in the playoffs. I mean, it's great for TV ratings at the beginning, but man, it gets ugly quick in finals. Yep, and that's exactly what happened in March Madness this year with San Diego State getting trounced by UConn. That was a bad national championship game. It was. It was fun though, I'll be honest. It was one game that we all watched together. I was rooting for the Golden Knights and they were killing it. Yeah, oh yeah. It was chippy, which was fun to see. Like, they were getting, like, dudes were just getting hammered around on the ice. It was so much fun. Yeah, watching, uh, who's the guy from Buffalo? Jack Eichel. Yep. He is a weird dude. He just keeps, he looked like a bird out there and he's just cranking his neck all over the place, running off the ice. But the Golden Knights win. They, I mean, they were, they're a six-year-old org? Something like that. They don't deserve a title this year. They haven't been through the ringer. Yeah, but, I mean, in these two, in those two leagues we just talked about, NBA, NHL, which team, which team's closer to the playoffs, Pistons or Red Wings? Red Wings. Red Wings. They were in the race late in the season, so I figured, um, which leads me to a question as well. I was talking to my co-workers this week. Which Detroit team will win the next playoff series and or game? Lions. That was a really nice play by Carrillo. You were right. I think you're right. Which Detroit team's winning the next playoff series? Yeah, it's gotta be the Lions. I would assume the Lions this year, right? Yeah. Not the Tigers, it's not the Pistons, it's probably Lions or Red Wings. Yeah, yeah. Lions will probably win the division this year, be like the third or fourth seed, get like the NFC East team, they'll probably get like the Cowboys or something at home and they'll eke out a close playoff win against the Cowboys. That's kind of what I see happening. Yeah, I think we all agree the Lions will win the next playoff game, but my co-workers were not having it. They've been scarred too many years by the Lions. They don't believe in it. Yeah, we're still young enough to where we haven't lost full hope. I mean, we have not been alive for a Lions playoff win, but we will all be going bananas if they do. Oh, absolutely. I tell you, we got to get out and do like, uh, I would love to go to a Red Wings game, um, or like a, just like a, like a Lions game. Yeah, get the fantasy group together. Dude, yeah, that would be so much fun. I think we, I think we totally could. The problem is we got to start buying Lions tickets now before they get really good. Exactly, yeah. Reasonable price. Can you imagine the price of a ticket to go to a home playoff game this year? People, I think, in this state would give their left arm to go to a- They haven't, they have one playoff win in their history. One, well, in the Super Bowl era. One, and that was in 92. Yep. We were not alive. Yep. Especially to host, was it a home game or an away game? I think it was a home game. But to host, it wasn't at Ford Field. It was at the Silverdome, probably. Ford Field is not one of the playoff games. Yeah. Well, we are getting down to this series where it's like hockey playoffs and championships have come and gone. Basketball championships have come and gone. Now we're just sitting in the thick of baseball and the last championship that we had to talk about is the CDL. We do, indeed. And how weird was it that the Subliners just came out of nowhere in Major 5, one Major 5, and then showed up in one champs? And they didn't even look that dominant until the end. Yeah. They killed it. They got 3-0'd by Ultra in the winner's finals. Yeah. I was, like, overall, I would say, like, just really when I was looking at these teams, I mainly was just focusing on really just the Thieves, mostly. Yeah. And I was proud of how they performed, typically just throughout the entirety of it. But they did get eliminated relatively early in the road to champs. Yeah, they ended up playing Surge there. Yeah. Surge just got a hot team. Were they the first team eliminated, technically? They were 7th and 8th, yeah. It's a tie, but yeah, they were mathematically one of the first. That was a little bit rough to see, but hey, we took a Major, this Cod League. Yeah, so, but due to that dropping out of champs so early, I'm expecting roster changes this year. There's already rumors that two of those guys are going to go to OpTic in a trade. Which one? Draza and Envoy, actually. Really? And they're saying Octane will be gone, too, so it might just be Kenny and company. And Kenny's my least favorite LA guy. I think he's the worst one. Draza's clearly the best. Draza is the best S&D player. I think Octane's one of the better leaders in the league itself. I mean, LA, those guys are freaks out there. They definitely underperformed for how good that team was. They won a World Championship the year before. They're a good squad, so I'm honestly, it's going to be weird not seeing the four of them together. But yeah, OpTic, they ran out of juice late in the year. I think it was due to lack of a coach. They picked up a coach at the end of the year, but it was already too late, and they peaked early, as Jared mentioned. Yeah, I was telling them, I remember them talking about the Thieves and about OpTic in the middle of the year, like Majors 3 and 4, 2, 3, and 4, and OpTic could not be stopped. The Thieves were winning left and right, and both teams kind of died out right at the end. So they essentially peaked too early and couldn't finish the deal, even though they probably had better squads than NYSL, who ended up winning it, but it's all about who's playing good at the right time. So I saw a stat the other day. Hydra had 32 30 bomb games in the league, and that was like, just this year? Yeah, and that was like eight more than the next closest guy. Just to reference, just playing normal COD a good amount and stuff, I've maybe, I can count on one hand how many times I've had 30 kills against guys our skill level. He does it against pro players. So he ended up winning league MVP, they won two majors and champs. That squad will obviously stay together, but did you guys know there's an OpTic curse? They're not. So recently the last five champs, whoever has left OpTic has one champ for the next year. Really? Like the Madden cover? So like, uh-oh. Korea bomb. Tigers are only up 3-1. Hey, Reese Olsen was due. Yeah, I think you go get Reese Olsen here. All right, let him get one more guy on base possibly. We'll see, but anyway, so last year Envoy left OpTic for the Thieves, Thieves won champs. The year before that, Arsene left OpTic for FaZe, FaZe won champs. Yeah. So this year, OpTic's coach Sender left OpTic for NYSL and they won champs. That's crazy. So whoever leaves OpTic this year could potentially win champs. So if you're a betting man, keep your eye on that. Keep your eye on the free agency. Land of 10,000 rakes. What is that? It said rakes though. That's what it says. I'd rather see the Red Wing helmet. Okay, like quick little segue. How do you guys feel about home run celebrations and MLB? Is it good? I like it. It makes the players seem more relatable and stuff. I like what the Tigers do with the Red Wings helmet. Yeah, I think yeah. A little old to Hockey Town. Yeah, another hometown team and stuff. Some of the teams are kind of cringe, like the thing that the Twins just did, like a Ranger vest. That is kind of cringe, but overall I like it. Is it Boston that hops in like the laundry hamper or whatever? I haven't seen that one. Who do they put in the cart and push down the... Yeah. Is that Boston or Houston or somewhere? I don't know. That one is good. There's a couple funny celebrations out there. That's just a quick little segue, but Tigers are up 3-1, top of the sixth, one out. Still looking good. Olsen needs to get through this evening and then the bullpen should be able to come in. You only need someone to get through 7-8 and then Lang should come in and shut down. And we should have a full bullpen at our disposal because we had a day off Thursday and Friday we weren't winning that game. We played Englert and Tyler Alexander and Hill, right? Yeah, not our most elite arm, so we should have all the boys available. It is still an update on the College World Series. It is still 2-1, top of the fifth. Okay, so LSU still got the lead. LSU to get to the championship game beat Wake Forest in 11 innings. They hit a walk-off home run. It was a 0-0 game and they hit a walk-off to go to the... How hyped would that be? That would be insane. You were watching the game. Tell the listeners about what the announcers were hyping up this new pitcher that came in. Okay, so essentially 0-0 game. Wake Forest has had the Demon Deacons have had their relief pitcher go through the entire order with 5-Ks. So like three whole innings just shutting down LSU. First guy on, looks like an error by Torque here. First guy on, now you go get Reese Olsen. First guy on gets a single and they pull him. So now they're bringing their closer in. He's locked down. Apparently all growing up in high school and little league he played with his catcher. They got a perfect connection. They're talking about it. He's going to play in the MLB. He's going to get drafted. He's only a junior. Very first pitch the LSU batter takes a yard on him and they win the game. What's funny because they also zoom in on his face as his best friend ripped the homer off of him. His buddy is sprinting down the first baseline and just like freaking out. He ran up to him after and gave him a hug like right away. The hitter did. So that was pretty funny to watch. College World Series is hype. I'll turn it on for the finals. 11 inning game. Pitchers duel. Everything's tense. No one wants to make a mistake. That's good stuff. So being on the baseball track I think it's a good time to talk about our softball team boys. We're heading into our last week already. I know. But we're coming off a hot win. Yeah the season's honestly kind of flown by. I know we missed a couple games early or not early in the middle of the season. So that took away a week and I think the first week was canceled due to like rain and stuff. They didn't have teams. Yeah it was weird. We missed the first week of the season. So we've only played like 10 games or something and now we're here at the last week already. But yeah who'd we play on Tuesday? Oh we played the Fenton Nazary. And this is the team I know we briefly talked about our softball league in other episodes. This is the team we have a semi-rivalry with. Because it's no longer a rivalry. Yeah so they were born on third. That's true. They were born on third base and I'm still there. But they beat us the first two times when we joined the league. And since that time I think we beat them four straight times now. I think we're four and two against them. And the last couple times it hasn't really been close. Clubbed the ball pretty well. Well I was sick earlier this year. You guys ended up beating them. It was a little closer. It was close. I think we won like 13 to 7. You know it was still like pretty comfortable I think. Yeah. I thought we beat them by one because they had a comeback. Yeah because your mom was texting me about it. Yeah because we were making bad calls. 13-11. So a close game. That's a close game. Definitely in terms of softball. Let's think of another game. So you guys beat them and this week we only had one game on Tuesday. We played them and I think the final was 26-6. We homered out. Yeah so in this league. You homered out. Dan alone almost hit our home run cap. So in this league you can only hit five home runs. Any home run after that is an out. Which that's fine. We have never. I think we've hit five home runs. We've never. I think most runs we've ever hit is four before that. Yeah maybe four home runs five. I know we've never capped out and hit a home run for an out. Yeah. And in this game we hit seven. We hit seven home runs. Yeah Josh Jake's younger brother. Oh double play potential here. Nice. Oh Duxton didn't even run. Is he injured? Because he's usually fast. I don't know. He's got a big old break. I mean he's 0-21 against the Tigers. So Tigers are through the sixth inning thanks to a double play. So Jake's younger brother Josh. He is trying to kill the ball and he popped a couple up. Just not having a good game. Well the rest of us. I mean we scored 26 runs so we're clearly playing well. We get five home runs as soon as we do he cranks a home run and it's an out. Well we literally told him. We're like dude lay off. Like there's no need for you. I don't know what it is but when my brother plays church softball I think he turns into a different animal. He goes goblin mode. Dude I was sitting at third base. Dan was at short and it is the last play of the game. Josh is pitching. And we're up by 20 runs. We're up by 20 runs. Josh pitches the ball. This guy hit the pop fly to left field. I'm in the process of turning to look at our left fielder who is in the process of making the catch and my brother is sprinting from the pitcher's mound to left field. He got halfway into the outfield. To try and test the ball that he just pitched to this guy that he hit in left field. It was deep left field. Like it was not close to Josh. Like he was on a mission and it was one of the funniest sites I've ever seen. Well dude you gotta tell the people about Josh cheering on the sideline when they're one second base in mid play. Yeah so we're batting and the field is small so you can hear what people are saying from the dugout. And there's no fanning. Yeah it's quiet. The infield can hear what the other team's dugout is saying. And we have a person on first and I don't know who is batting but they hit a little jam job that popped up to the second base and not high at all right at her but you know she's out there trying her best and it ticks off her glove. She almost catches it. Ticks off her glove, rolls everyone's face. And as the ball leaves her glove and she just dropped it, Josh is on our sideline over by our parents and stuff and he goes pretty darn loud. I look over at him. I'm like dude this is like a middle-aged mom playing second base. She was not good at softball. This team has gotten significantly worse since the last time we played two days. They've lost a couple of their hitters and they've replaced them with some middle-aged moms that have never played softball before. Well it's funny because like to me this is like our arch rival in church softball and it's too long of an incident to go on about. But this is our arch rival and it's like they whenever we play them it seems like they're always just like bringing out the rule book and trying to like figure out what is wrong that we could give them an edge. Meanwhile they don't have the legal amount of females to play on their team. So they are like heavily stacked with males and I'm like you don't even meet the requirement to play in this league right now. Yeah so like you said we even had two rule book incidents with them. We're up by 20 runs and there was a bang bang play at second and our umpire Krejci's dad technically if you have two umpires which we did one is supposed to be in the field the other is supposed to be behind the plate. Well it was Ed's turn to be behind the plate and their ump just wanted to sit on the bench and not be in the field. So there was a bang bang play at second Ed called him safe and everybody on their team wanted to argue it. And so you know being up by 20 runs Ed ended up just saying all right go ahead you guys got the out. And it was like hey why don't you guys just provide the ump that should be out there and then you never run into this you know incident. Exactly like they can and I was hoping my dad was going to call call us out just based on the situation of we're up 20 runs and just call them out so that way no issues arise but it all goes back to. He's trying to be fair though. He's doing his best he can he called him safe and you can't complain when you have people sitting on the bench who could be out umping through the team. Yeah exactly. Just put someone out there and they can easily call them out or even if they call him safe then you get mad at your own own teammate for calling the guy safe and you're not yelling at my dad who's just trying his best and is volunteering. Yeah exactly. Dad doesn't play he doesn't get the enjoyment of playing he has to sit there and ump all day. Everybody hates him. Sometimes people on our team chirp him. Yeah yeah that's like when people on our own team say stuff like and just like raise suspicion it's like stop. So the second incident once again Ed is umping behind the plate and their ump is sitting on the bench and Liv Krejci's younger sister ran home and it was a bang bang play at home. The way our softball league works is we're not allowed to touch home plate we just run past it and if they catch catch it kind of like a force out at first with their foot on the bag it's an out if they catch it before we get there. But also there's a commit line halfway between third and home. If you cross that commit line you have to go home. So Liv is sprinting and I'm behind Liv and she gets home and it was a bang bang play and the catcher pulled her foot off the bag. Ed clearly saw it saw it called her safe. Well I didn't think she was going to catch it. I got I got halfway between third and home not to the commit line though and I stopped and just walked back to third. Well their ump sitting there with the rule or the score card in his hand just casually tells the catcher to touch home plate because I crossed the commit line and I was out. And thankfully Ed didn't see it and a couple of their players said no he didn't cross the commit line but it was like once again just be out in the field and make the call correctly because he was sitting on the bench with a terrible angle. He was in front of me so there's no way to see. Perfectly parallel to the play which gives you no angle of what the line is and where you were at in relation to it. Yep so he briefly argued back and forth and I was not leaving third base. And mind you again we're up by know the situation we're up by a lot of runs. Miggy just got robbed of a hit. But we're up by a lot of runs your team is going to lose regardless if you get me out or not. Just like say but they love to argue they love to create controversy and now it's to the point though where it doesn't even matter because we're blowing them out by a lot and stuff like that. He might have wanted to call me out because I went up lefty. Yeah we also got to talk about some other crazy things that happen. We'll get to you batting left handed in the middle of the game and but our girls. Oh yeah outstanding. Shout out to Jake's girlfriend Caroline having the catch of her life out in right field. Um one of their good hitters hit a line drive pretty hard screamed it right at her. But she was past the commit line. Yeah she stuck her glove out caught it and here you can tell the story. I'll tell you I've heard it a hundred times. Well she like catches it and rotates her glove around so she like pins it to her body and all of us in the infield freaked out but the guy on second like didn't really know what was happening. He thought it was a hit I mean all of us thought it was going to be a hit. He was halfway to third base so he like stopped and turned around and Caroline doesn't could easily throw this dude out at second. She didn't care she was just jumping up and down in right field and Danny's like throw it to second. She's like pumping her arms stomping around just pumps. She put both arms to the sky. Yep and she's like she was screaming she was so happy and you know credit to her she caught the ball right at her. Didn't make the double play but hey baby steps right. So she made that and then also Jenna made a catch in right field as well. Yeah pretty much like this yeah pretty much the same thing one of their guys it was actually a big out they had some guys on base early in yeah this was still when the game was close and Jenna caught one out right field and she was pretty pretty pumped about that too and I was telling the guys afterwards in game I was like we play our best game every single year against this team and it's true we like everyone on the team takes their skill level and just boost it 10 10 points like I don't think Jenna's caught a ball out and like obviously we haven't had a lot hit to these people and stuff like that Jenna I don't think has caught one out in the field Caroline hasn't caught one out in the field Jenna and Caroline both get hit like everybody just like plays better than they usually do when we play against Deseret and I love it. Well looking forward we got I think the best team in the league coming up Tuesday they beat us in the close game last time our offense kind of shut down late in the game so we're gonna have to we're gonna have to close out the season strong I think we're playing swag and they are swaggy yeah yeah they're good but our right fielders like we said have stepped up big time yeah they're popping off they're they're gonna get some action the key with this team is they they um obviously church church softball is slow pitch um they love going oppo so uh I think Craich is gonna be on on the on the mound and I think he's gonna he's gonna try to jam them up so if any of them are listening this is a scouting report we're gonna jam you yeah I hope they're listening but yeah try and throw on some inside ones see if they like to pull it so I'm excited softball has been a fun we have we have too many people on the team but it's still fun yeah there are a couple games we had like 15 people in the batting lineup yeah you get the bat once or twice for some reason I thought the the season went way farther into summer I guess I was mistaken so so I guess there is a five on five guys only league after but I think I'm going to be playing volleyball uh beach volleyball with the wife so is that five on five in the same league like with all the same churches I think so and and how it works is it's five on five on five so three teams and two teams go in the field one team bats okay and so I mean I think it'd be awesome because the way we're hitting right now we could just constantly crank the ball and run around the base I mean our team has probably the most aggressive base runners and the youngest guys so it would kind of be fun to bool around the bases true we also we forgot about the left-handed ab oh man essentially we ran out of home runs I hit a couple and I am not good at waiting on the pitch and pushing it the opposite way so what's one way to guarantee that you're going to hit it the opposite way you walk up left-handed oh my word my first pitch should have been caught so I swung at the first one it should have been caught by the first baseman but it just ended up being a foul ball nice play by Javi Baez made made a tough outlook routine which means the next play will be an error by him and then the second pitch I grounded to the pitcher and beat it up yeah you ended up being saved which is hilarious but I'm just sitting there thinking we're up by probably 10-15 runs at this point and D comes up left-handed Jake we're saying something about the podcast oh my god they do it for the pod or something yeah and I was the first base coach and I'm like I see you walking to the opposite batter's box I'm like oh my word I'm looking around at the faces of the infielders because they because D had hit three home runs his first right three home runs his first three at bat so they knew who was up to bat and they knew he's a righty um so for them to see him come up left-handed they had to have been hit and I look like a bot they probably felt so disrespected but again I don't care annihilated that team is that's all right I hit it to their pitcher who was mad at everyone else it was good for him to be mad at himself for not getting me out it's true he was he was mad at his team he was having a bad attitude um kind of a different episode I think we wrapped about a lot of good things though oh no a little bit different format oh oh no Tigers only up 3-2 now can't give up a home run to that bomb it's bad for 180. Jason Shreve in for the Tigers and Jared was mentioning we have good relievers but no Jason Shreve is bad I don't know why we put Jason Shreve out there I would have liked to seen Foley go seven and eight and then Lang on the ninth so as it is live top of seven two outs Jason Shreve just gives up a solo shot thankfully it's been solo enough yeah it's the twins the twins had nothing going this inning we had a couple nice plays by Javi to get us to two outs and then giving up a solo shot there with to a guy that's batting a hundred a buck eighty that's tough also before we wrap things up uh the final the championship for college uh we got Florida going up 3-2 Florida's up Florida's up now nice we'll have to we'll have to pan over to that but like we said different different kind of format a little laid back and I know it's later in the week so we probably won't come out with an episode Monday night but um we we will have reports of what happened on the fourth and uh I think we're going on a camping trip so we'll be talking about that and uh kind of probably give a Tigers update softball update all that any final thoughts gentlemen I know we didn't play a game this week you guys said yeah I do look forward to look uh losing to Jake our game was on the course that's right you did lose that was our game today yeah hey looking forward to many more of them but uh other than that thanks for tuning in this week folks yeah appreciate uh all the listeners we don't have subscribers yet we'll get there um yeah have a good week enjoy your fourth of July and uh share the pod with your friends out on the fourth absolutely
