I'll be joined by my mother very shortly. The topic I'll be discussing has been in the news more frequently for the past year. Reason being, on June 24th, 2022, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, which means it is in the state's hands whether they want to make it illegal or legal. Most states in the South have already banned abortion completely as of May 17th, 2023. In a 6-3 vote count, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. This overturning is constitutionally wrong. It goes against our 14th Amendment right, which is our right to privacy. The Supreme Court, which I should remind you only consists of 9 justices, had this much power over 150 million women in our country. Women all over our country lost the right to make informed decisions about their bodies. In southern states and in states such as Wisconsin, North and South Dakota, Idaho, these states have banned abortion completely and they have banned Mifepristone, which is primarily used in the early stages of an abortion. So now, women in these states have no access to abortion. The bans are forcing women to have unwanted pregnancies. Younger, old, young adolescents in high school and at times even middle school are also being affected. I will now share an example of how Roe v. Wade has affected women of all ages. In Ohio, there was a 10-year-old girl who was raped and was impregnated by her abuser. She wasn't allowed in her state to have an abortion. The young girl had to cross state lines to receive treatment. One representative, some high-profile Republican, deemed the story to be fake. Jim Jordan, representative of Ohio, tweeted, quote-unquote, another lie and he wasn't surprised. He later deleted the tweet when a man confessed to the crime. These people just want to neglect the truth and pin it on something or someone else. I believe abortion should be available to women of all ages, color, religion, and financial status. It does not matter whether you believe it goes against your religion. The matter is that it is constitutionally wrong. It goes against our 14th Amendment right. It's also morally wrong. We're all humans. We all have hearts, and we should all feel for one another. We should be able to make decisions that we feel good about to protect ourselves. The way I see it is specifically for young adolescents, primarily in college or high school, possibly even middle school, it gives them a chance. It gives them another chance to continue studying. It gives them a better future. I know some friends of mine have had or they have benefited from having an abortion. It has kept them in school. I'm here with my mom, with my mother. Say hi, mom. Hi. We should just go out there and vote. Vote for the right people. I feel like everybody knows what problems we have going on, and mainly the problems revolve around politicians, the people, the wrong people in office. The wrong people in office has made our lives a little harder. We have the power to vote these people out. We live in a country where we decide who we want to be our president, who we want to represent us. This is the only way we can just combat against these people. This is the only way we can make things right for people. Politicians, city workers, civil workers, the president even, they all work for us. We're the ones that gave them the job. I know it doesn't seem that way, or you may not believe me, but I'm pretty sure that's how it works. I'm pretty sure that's how it works. Just like how we pay taxes to fund the police.
