Hi, I'm Carter Nasvadi and in this podcast I will be talking about one of the greatest JDM, also known as Japanese Domestic Market Cars, ever made. The Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 is a very popularly exported car due to the mass love for the car. It is not the most powerful car, but people like to modify it to look cool or go fast. The main reason it had a spark in popularity is from the movie Fast and Furious, which made the car look and sound amazing. In the movie, Paul Walker drives the car in drag races and after Paul Walker passed away, people started buying the car more and more. Some people as a tribute and some for the memories. The car was really popular due to the movie blowing up and becoming one of the most watched movies by kids in the generations from 2006 to 2012. Due to all the social media showing how cool it was and saying we miss you Paul Walker, it makes fans even more willing to buy it as a tribute because they thought he played an amazing role in the movie. Even though the Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 was not in all the movies, it was still a very popular car for being in just one movie, Fast and Furious 4. Everyone loved it because of the style and the beauty of it. Though there are many other great competitors in the JDM industry, like the Super MK4 with a 2JZ engine that produces so much power and got so much attention due to it also being driven by Paul Walker. It is also a famous car because tuner Smokey Nagata worked on a Supra. He put a V12 engine in it and tuned it to perfection to where not even to this day people know what he did to it. Another car, the Nissan Silvia, is often heavily modified due to its light weight and increased maneuverability. People would put powerful engines in it and make it a powerful lightweight car with great maneuverability. This is why it was quite used a bit for racing. Though all these cars are powerful, popular, and very loved by the community, in my opinion the overall greatest JDM car would have to be the Nissan Skyline GT-R R34. Another reason for this is the 2.6 liter straight six engine, which may not have produced the most power ever, but if tuned properly could be a great engine. With all the people who are importing this car from Japan and bringing them over to the US, I'm clearly not alone in this opinion.
