The Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack Podcast features fun music and great information. According to winebusiness.com, Gamay and Lambrusco have officially replaced rose as the official wines of summer. Sales of lighter-bodied, chillable red wines have been increasing, and Barbera has seen a 16% increase in sales. The podcast also discusses a trend in China where people are wearing temporary tattoos of fake belly buttons to make their legs appear longer. The Napa Valley Vine Trail is being built and recently broke ground in Vallejo. The trail will be a bicycle, walking, and jogging path throughout Napa Valley. It's the Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack Podcast. You know on Saturdays we play fun music and we feature great information at 993thevine.com. We also mix in some stories that I find kind of interesting whether it's local music or food or tech or just kind of some cool things I think you ought to know about. It's always lots of fun. Fun music and great information happens every Saturday at 993thevine.com. And the Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack Podcast features great information like this. Hey, I'm Big Rick Stewart. It's the Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack. Fun music and great information. This is according to winebusiness.com. It's official, they say. These two wines have officially replaced rose as the official wine of summer. Now they're using data from Drizzly. They reported an uptick in sales of lighter-bodied, chillable red wines. You might have heard that phrase, a chillable red wine. So what are those? Well, in this case, it's Gamay and Lambrusco. All right, so this data goes back to 2020 and they've been kind of following this. Also, Barbarian experienced a 16% increase. What's this all about? All right, well, first of all, Lambrusco. I love Lambrusco. I'm like a huge fan. It's super affordable. It's a slightly fizzy red wine. It's very light and it's very delicious. And the colder, the better, and it goes with everything and it goes with nothing. It goes with an empty glass. I love Lambrusco, so that's one. But this article is really talking about Barbera. And Barbera is a delicious red wine, really associated with the Piedmont region in northern Italy, but it's not based on a place. It's named after a grape. So you can find it in California and you can find it in Australia and all over. Kind of a bright cherry with berry notes, making it a perfect choice to pair with grilled vegetables and to chill a little bit. A chillable red in Barbera and pizza. Can't go wrong with that. The other one they talk about is Gamay wines. They tend to be kind of fresh and low in tannins, also enjoying a slight chill. Kind of goes with everything and grown from Oregon and California and Australia, and even make some rose out of that. Ah, chillable red. I like it, but I'm sticking to my Lambrusco. I'm Big Rick Stewart. It's the Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack at 99.3thevine.com. I'm Big Rick Stewart. It's the Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack. Thanks for hanging out with me. We got all kinds of things going on today. And if you hop online and you have a little bit of money to spend, okay, like a lot of money, you can have maybe like one of the greatest collections of Napa Valley wines ever offered in one shot. Well, I mean, there's different auction lots, available, I'm talking about California only, online, featuring a private library collection of Screaming Eagle and other Napa classics offered by Christie's. Christie's.com, where you can sell information on all these lots and more. I mean, there's a ton, a ton of Napa Valley wines. They say it features their largest ever single owner collection of Screaming Eagle to appear at auction. Over 20 vintages of Screaming Eagle, including rare Magnums, but wait, there's more. 10 vintages of Scarecrow are being offered in three bottle original cases. Multiple vintages of Opus One. Other big Napa Valley, Northern California names on the list are Dunn, Joseph Speltz, Harlan, Ridge, Silvero, how about a 1951 BV Georges de la Tour? A 1951, wow. From Southern Central California, Sinaquanon have a bunch of offers there as well. Some collectors somewhere collected lots of great Napa Valley wines. In the mix, a large format of Groff Reserve Cabernet. They have a 1985, both in six liter and three liter. How about a rare case of Magnums from Stag's Leap, cask 23, 1985, among the all time highest rated wines of California. It's incredible just to look at these listings. I mean, they're talking about like, you know, thousands of dollars a bottle. Multiple offerings in two and three bottle sets. Christie's.com for more information. And click on the stories link to see the story of Screaming Eagle. Pretty cool. I'm Big Rick Stewart. I'm not gonna be able to afford any of this. It's the Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack. 99.3thevine.com. I'm Big Rick Stewart. It's the Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack. Oh, those crazy Gen Z kids. What will they think of next? I have no idea, but in China, they're thinking about wearing temporary tattoos of fake belly buttons. This is a new trend. Do you have a Gen Z in your house? Are they aware of this? I don't know. So what's the deal here? The tattoo it says here is worn above the navel to make the wearer's legs appear longer. People, I'm not making this up. I saw this at insider.com. Some people are worried about the message this sends to young women, because it's like a young women's thing to do this. These are temporary tattoos. You buy like a whole sheet of them, and you put them on above your navel. So don't you look like you have two belly buttons? Well, they say yes. One of the fans of this says it's quite natural, and I think it looks better than my real belly button. In normal situations, no one's gonna come up to me, scrutinize my belly, and figure out if my belly button is for real. And they say that if you have two belly buttons, and somebody says why, you could, well, maybe wear a Band-Aid over your real belly button, and tell them you just had a baby. I don't know. I don't know anything about all this. This is way, way out of my league. Fake belly button tattoos. All right, I don't know. Dig it out. See what you think. I'm Big Rick Stewart. One's enough for me. Good news for you fans of the Napa Valley Vine Trail. Maybe you've been donating, you should, and helping them build this incredible bicycle, walking, hiking, jogging, baby stroller, skateboarding trail all up and down Napa Valley and more. In Vallejo, they recently broke ground on a portion of the Napa Valley Vine Trail with some local politicians, elected officials, and the board president, Chuck McMinn, of the Napa Valley Vine Trail. He is also the founder. They got together and broke ground and the Vallejo mayor enjoys riding bicycles and says he even thinks there should be a race in Vallejo with potential to bring in thousands of people. He wants to kind of have special events. Okay, that's cool. The Vallejo portion's gonna be five miles and it's going to connect to American Canyon. That connects to Napa and that connects to everything else. The Vallejo portion of the trail should be completed by this time next year. Now you might be wondering, well, what else are they doing? Aren't they doing something up in Calistoga? Yeah, they're getting close to being done. The Calistoga Depot to Pratt Avenue section of the trail, it's 8.2 miles, should be open in November. Eventually, you can ride from Calistoga to the ferry boats down in Vallejo. That is gonna be awesome. Thanks for everything everyone's doing that's involved with the Vine Trail. I love it.
