SCRIPTURES USED (Matthew 28:16 KJV) Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. (Matthew 28:17 KJV) And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. (Matthew 28:18 KJV) And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. (Matthew 28:19 KJV) Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: (Matthew 28:20 KJV) Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Mark 16:14 KJV) Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. (Mark 16:15 KJV) And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. (Mark 16:16 KJV) He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. (Luke 24:36 KJV) And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. (Luke 24:37 KJV) But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. (Luke 24:38 KJV) And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? (Luke 24:39 KJV) Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. (Luke 24:40 KJV) And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet. (Luke 24:41 KJV) And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat? (Luke 24:42 KJV) And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb. (Luke 24:43 KJV) And he took it, and did eat before them. (Luke 24:44 KJV) And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. (Luke 24:45 KJV) Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, (Luke 24:46 KJV) And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: (Luke 24:47 KJV) And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. (Luke 24:48 KJV) And ye are witnesses of these things. (Luke 24:49 KJV) And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. (Romans 10:9 KJV) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (Romans 10:10 KJV) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:14 KJV) How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? (Romans 10:16 KJV) But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? (Romans 10:17 KJV) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Hebrews 11:6 KJV) But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (John 6:28 KJV) Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? (John 6:29 KJV) Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. (John 8:24 KJV) I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. (Luke 13:3 KJV) I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. (Galatians 3:27 KJV) For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. (Galatians 3:27 KJV) For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. (1 Peter 3:20 KJV) Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. (1 Peter 3:21 KJV) The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: (2 Timothy 2:10 KJV) Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. (Matthew 16:18 KJV) And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (Matthew 7:21 KJV) Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 7:22 KJV) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? (Matthew 7:23 KJV) And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. AI GENERATED SUMMARY The speaker is studying examples of conversions in the Book of Acts to understand the pattern of salvation taught in the New Testament. They emphasize the importance of the Great Commission given by Jesus to the disciples, which includes preaching the gospel, baptizing believers, and teaching them to obey God's commandments. They compare the commission accounts in Matthew, Mark, and Luke to see the pattern of hearing, believing, confessing, repenting, and being baptized for the remission of sins. Repentance is highlighted as a necessary part of salvation. AI GENERATED TRANSCRIPT So tonight, we begin with a study of examples of conversions, and Lord's willing, this might last about eight days, because the plan is for each night to go through an example of a conversion in the Book of Acts. And what we're looking for is the pattern that was obeyed throughout the New Testament that has been taught for salvation. So we go through the Book of Acts, and we see what is the message that sinners was preached, all right, when they were convicted of their sins and converted to the Lord. So we're going to witness firsthand, you know, what the sinners do, you know, and what they were told to do to be saved. But I want you all to understand that the same details are not repeated each time inspiration describes the different cases of conversion. But by us comparing the details that are specified, we can thereby conclude the full message that was preached to all sinners. And Acts is very important because it helps us to understand the rest of the books of the New Testament. It gives us an insight, a proper understanding of the message, okay? So before we even get off into a conversion, we want to start with the Great Commission, okay? When Jesus had risen from the dead, not that He was crucified and buried, He appeared unto the eleven, and He sent them out on what is known to be the Great Commission, because He had commissioned them before He was crucified. And He had commissioned many others to go out, even to preach and teach. But this is the final commission, the Great Commission. And we're going to look at Matthew's account before we get off into the conversion account in the book of Acts. So let's read Matthew chapter 28, verses 18 through 20. Is she here? Jesus came and told His disciples, I have given all authorities in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all commandments I have given you. And be sure of this, I am with you always, even to the end of ages. Amen. So here we have the resurrected Lord. He appears to the eleven. It was only eleven at this time because Judas had betrayed Him up to death. And by this time, Judas had went on and did what the Scriptures say he had done. He had went away and hung himself and fell headlong. And he fell and all his bowels bust out and gushed open. But so it's only eleven apostles at this time. And Jesus gives them the great and final commission before He ascends to heaven. And we see from this commission account that Jesus tells them that all authority is given unto Him in heaven and in earth. Now with this authority, He commissions them. Now, by this time, they understand and know that His authority is from God. Because they walk with Him on earth. They watch Him heal the sick, raise the dead, make the blind to see. And they see Him teach with authority. But not only that, they know that the man was crucified and He has risen from the dead. And God the Father spoke many times from heaven stating Jesus' authority. That this is my Son whom I am well pleased in. Here He is. So the Father testifies unto His authority. But with this authority, Jesus commissions them with a message of salvation to go out and preach to the whole world. And this is what this commission account gives us insight. Because by comparing all the great commissions, you get to see the pattern that emerges. But you take the pattern from the great commissions and you compare it to all of the conversions in the book of Acts. And you get that same pattern. They hear, believe, confess, repent, and be baptized for the remission of sins. So here in the first commission over in Matthew, Jesus tells them, Go ye therefore and teach all nations the same as I am. Make disciples of all nations. And this would involve baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Now this is not some type of mystical formula when we say in the name of the Father, the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. This means this is who is being obeyed. This is God's commandment that you be baptized for the remission of sins. This authority comes from God, okay? But Jesus said that they would not only be baptized, but they would be teaching. And what would they be teaching? Them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded, and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. So a disciple is one who heeds his master's instruction, and he implements the teachings in his own life, but he also passes on to others what he has learned. Amen. That is a good definition of what a true disciple does, okay? Now let's also look at the next commission account over here in Mark chapter 16. So from that account, we see a part of the pattern that emerges, that they will be baptized. So in Mark chapter 16, I want to pick up and read verses 15 and 16. And he said to them, go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe will be condemned. Okay, so here we see more of the pattern of teaching of salvation. You can't take Matthew's account alone and say, oh, well, that's all you got to do is be baptized. No, you look at all of the teachings on salvation, and you put them together, then you see the pattern emerge, okay? So here Jesus states that to the 11, this is Mark's account of the final and great commission. And it's the same situation. Jesus has risen from the dead. He appears to the 11, and he commissions them. But Mark gives us some more insight about what Jesus told them. He told them, go ye into all the world and preach. Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Now what is the gospel? It is the death, the burial, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ, also known as the good news about a risen Savior, the Messiah who can take away sin. And so this is what they ought to go out and preach. They want to go out and preach Peter and Paul and Charles and Mike and John. No, he said, go and preach the gospel to every creature, not just the Jews, but the Gentiles too. So he said that they will be preaching. So there's another part of that pattern because they hear, and how could they hear without a preacher? So they hear, believe, confess, repent, and be baptized. So here's the next part of the pattern in verse 16. He says, he that believeth, so you've got to believe also. You've not just got to be here, but you've also got to believe. Jesus said, he that believes and is baptized shall be saved. So if you read this scripture to a person and then you tell them, look, read that scripture, and then they read it and you say, what you got to do to be saved? Well, you got to believe. Then you say, read that scripture again. Now what you got to do to be saved? Well, you got to believe. Read that scripture again. Now what you got to do to be saved? Oh, I got to be baptized. There you go. There you go. Because he that believeth and, that is a coordinating conjunction, for the same reason that you believe is for the same reason that you got to be baptized. So he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved. But he that believeth not shall be damned, which means he will be condemned. He will be judged. Okay? So here we see more of the pattern. So we can take hearing and believing and baptism off the list already of the pattern that we've been studying in the New Testament. Now let's look at Luke's account of the Great Commission. Let's look at Luke chapter 24, and we want to pick up at verse 44. And we want to read down to verse 48, 49 actually. Luke 24, 44. All right. So here's another account of the final commission of Christ with the apostles of the gospel message of salvation that he told them to go out and preach. So here we see in this account that Christ, he told them that while he walked with them on earth, that what he was teaching them was that he had to suffer. The Messiah had to come, and he had to die this horrible death and rise from the dead. But not only was he teaching them that, but Moses and the prophets, and even in the book of Psalms, it speaks about Christ. And the prophecies about these things happening to the Messiah. And Christ said that they had to be fulfilled. So we understand that Christ fulfills those prophecies. He fulfills the Old Testament and its meaning. And he was the meaning and the fulfillment of all that. So that alone lets us know that we are not up under the law of Moses, the Old Testament. Those things have served their purpose. They have been fulfilled. Okay? Then often he, their understanding that they might understand the scriptures, and he said unto them, basically he preached to them the gospel. He helped them to understand the gospel message about himself. He said, thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ, which means it was necessary for Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day. Hold on now, because remember that we understand that the gospel means the death, the burial, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. So any time I see this Bible talking about Christ's death or his burial or his resurrection, I can stop and say to myself, that's the gospel. But verse 47 states, Christ tells them that it was not only necessary for him to suffer and rise from the dead, but he said in that repentance, hold on now, because this is a part of the pattern that is taught for salvation. But we see first that it's coming from Christ. All of these teachings on salvation first comes from Christ. He states that in that repentance, which means a complete turning away from your sins and turning to God, he states that in that repentance and remission of sins shall be preached in his name among all nations beginning at Jerusalem. Remember now, they hear, believe, confess, repent, and be baptized. So you can check repentance off the pattern. So you should have checked off your list, hear, believe, repent, and baptism for the remission of sins. That should be already checked off your pattern, okay? So we need to find in the Scriptures where it's taught that one must confess Christ, because here in Luke's account of the final commission, we check off repentance and baptism for the remission of sins, and that's preached according to Christ's authority. Jesus says that this shall be preached in his name among all nations, but first I want y'all to begin at Jerusalem. This is what he tells the apostles, and he tells them, and ye are witnesses of these things, and behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you. So he promised them power. He promised them the Holy Ghost, and that when the Holy Ghost comes, it's going to come with power on only the apostles. But he tells them, but wait in the city of Jerusalem until ye be endowed with power from on high. That's why the book of Acts begins with the apostles in the city of Jerusalem. So Acts is a continuation of the book of Luke, but we see where the apostles fulfilled this great and final commission. They went out with this gospel message of salvation. You have one minute remaining. And preached to men and women. All right. So now we want to look at Romans chapter 10, verse 10. Robin? Oh, so you can check confession off your pattern list now, because it's necessary that one be willing to confess the Jesus Lord, and that is rule of all. So we see within this one passage that it says you have to believe and confess. That is the pattern. That is a part of the pattern. That's the gospel. Okay, let's also read Matthew 10, verses 32 to 33. Thank you for using global telling, Tim. So everyone who acknowledged me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven. Let's go back, and while we're waiting on Charles, start it back at 26 and read it until it gets done. Okay. It's 1026. So have no fear of them, for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. What I tell you in the dark stays in the light, and what you hear whispered on the house tops. Good, Charles. All right, so we see that Jesus stated that we got to confess him. That is a commandment, that we must confess Christ. So we see the pattern in the New Testament that emerges when it comes to salvation. But what's important about understanding this pattern is this is the only way that you are going to understand what's taking place in the book of Acts, the book of conversion, when we get off into the study of these conversion accounts. So they hear the gospel message about God and his son, Jesus Christ. So they hear the preaching. So you have preaching. They hear. They hear. All right? Let's read Romans chapter 10, verse 14. Angel? Okay, Romans 10, 14. Yes, ma'am. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? So there's the pattern again. I want y'all to pay attention now. This is the pattern of preaching that Christians obey, that people obeyed in the Bible. That is the gospel. They say, how then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? Oh, you got to believe. That's on my pattern list. And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? So you do got to hear because how could you believe something you have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And then if you go down to verse 16, it says, but they have not all obeyed the gospel. And then verse 17 says, so then faith come by hearing and hearing by the words of God. So you got to hear. But you also got to believe. Let's go to Hebrews chapter 11, verse 6. Yeah. It says, and it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. So you telling me I must believe? So I got to believe in order to be saved. Okay. So when they was lying to me, telling me that all I had to do was believe to be saved, they didn't tell me a whole lot, but they told me parts of a lot. They said that that was all I had to do. That's where the lie came in. But I do got to believe, but that's not all I got to do because I simply just went from commission to commission with Jesus taught about baptism and repentance and hearing and believing. So I understand that believing alone won't save me. So let's also read John chapter 6, verses 28 and 29. John 6, 28 and 29. Then they said to him, what shall we do that we may work the works of God? Jesus answered and said to them, this is the work of God that you believe in him who makes it. Oh, so when I reveal this pattern to you, you say, oh, no, that sounds like works. But let's pay attention to what Jesus said. Jesus told them, they said, what shall we do? So they understand that they needed to do something. Now this is the Old Testament time period right here. Now this is the Old Testament dispensation. But I'm just pointing out that believing is a work because you have to show actions along with your belief. Jesus said, Jesus answered and said unto them, this is the work of God that you believe. So believing is a work that you believe on him whom he has sent. So we see that you have to believe. All right. And also John chapter 8, verse 24, it states, I said, therefore, I tell you that you shall die in your sin. For if you believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sin. So you've got to believe. And Jesus stated also in Luke chapter 13, verse 3, he said, I tell you nay, but except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. So you've got to repent. Then Acts chapter 17, verse 30, it states, the time of his ignorance God hath wicked. Which means that God overlooked their rebellion and their ignorance of him in time past until that his mystery would be fully revealed in his son, Jesus Christ. He delayed bringing his anger on them back then, but he did not hold them unaccountable for their action. But he says in the New Testament, it states that God requires all men everywhere to repent. So how can you lie to me and tell me to say a sinner's prayer to be saved? How could you lie to me and say, look, all you've got to do is believe? How could you lie to me like that? And expect me to be so gullible not to search the scripture and follow the gospel and understand that there's much more to salvation than that? So we see that we have to hear, believe, confess, repent. But we also have to be baptized for the remission of sins. Let's read Galatians chapter 3, verse 27. Galatians 3, 27. For as many of you who are baptized into Christ have put on Christ. So you're telling me that even though they tell me all type of man-made teachings for salvation, that's not in the Bible, but the Bible tells me that the only way I'm going to put on Christ, the only way I'm going to get into Christ's kingdom is through baptism? That's exactly what the Bible states. You've got to be baptized for the remission of sins in order to come into the body of Christ. This is the only way to put on Christ. Let's also read 1 Peter 3, 21, and we have two more scriptures after this and we'll close out. 1 Peter 3, 21. Robin. For life to bear away unto even baptism doth also now save us, not from putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience for God, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. So baptism do now also save us. And this is the New Testament that we're reading in. This is after the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, that this is preached. This is one of the apostles writing in this Peter, and this is the message of salvation that they taught, the same teachings that they received from the Lord. They preached baptism. They preached so that people could hear. They told people how that they had to believe on the Messiah. They told them how that they needed to repent and confess and be baptized for the remission of sins. Baptism is the clear testimony to God that the conscience is cleansed towards Him, that you are ready to walk in obedience towards Him. And the reason that you can be baptized for the remission of sins is because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. And you will do all these things as required for salvation. Let's read 2 Timothy 2, verse 10. Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. All right. Salvation. That's what all is for, salvation. Those who are in Christ are the elect. Those are the ones that God has chose when they chose to obey His plan of salvation, to be in His Son Christ. And this is the pattern of teaching that they had to obey. So you're telling me if I neglect to obey this plan, that I'm not the elect? That's exactly what I'm telling you. If I neglect to obey this plan, does this mean I'm not a saint? That's right. You are not sanctified, which means you are not in Christ. You haven't put on Christ. What you put on, I don't know. You may have put on Baptist. You may have put on Catholic. You may have put on Pentecostal, because those are the teachings that's been planted in your heart. You haven't obeyed the New Testament gospel. You have to do exactly what the people of the Bible did to become a part of Christ's church. You have to learn about Christ and His church and how to become a member of it. And then you do just that. It's simple. You don't see all of those denominations in the Bible, because they weren't around at that time. What number one church standing, and that's the church that's going to stand even after this world pass away. Amen. So we got to learn how to become a member of Christ's church. He promised to build His church, His church, singular. I will build my church, singular. So where do you get all the other churches from? Let's read Matthew chapter 7, verses 21 and 23, and we'll close out for the night. Angel? Matthew 7, verses 21 through 23. Okay. Oh, so them that work lawlessness, them that depend on their own wisdom for salvation, those who chose to follow their mothers and their fathers and the world, instead of saying, look, man, let me tighten down in this Bible, and I want to read and I really want to study Matthew, Mark, Luke, John. I'm going to study the book of Acts, and I'm going to see what church that it leads, and then I'm going to learn how to become a member of that church, so that I can know and be assured of my salvation. But those who refuse to obey the gospel, like it said in Romans chapter 10, they have not all obeyed the gospel. Now, Jesus said that many would say to Him on judgment day, Lord, Lord. So this means that they was not complete strangers. They ate and drank in His presence, but guess what? They weren't willing to do the will of Christ. So Christ told them to depart from Him. Now, how sad would it be on judgment day for us to be told to depart from Christ? How sad would it be for us to live our whole life religious? I didn't say saved. I said religious. This means I read the Bible, I go to church, I can quote scripture, but I didn't even get the first part right. I didn't even learn how to get in the kingdom. I was so blind. But I had opportunity. Why? Because there's millions of Bibles in the world. And even though the false teachings are out, everybody on this phone tonight got an opportunity to hear the truth. Now, we will be held accountable for the opportunities that we had to obey, and we chose not to. Well, I'm already saved. You ain't going to tell me nothing about my salvation. Me and God got our own personal relationship. I pray to God he answers my prayer. Look, your fortune in this world does not have anything to do with your spiritual condition. Whether you be poor or rich, this doesn't mean that you're saved or not saved. The only way you know that you're saved is if you knew that you understood that pattern of teaching that you just heard and you know for a fact that's what you obeyed when you obeyed it. Now, if you just learned that tonight and tonight's your first time hearing that, then you ain't saved, and you need to obey the gospel and stop playing with God and playing mind games with yourself. So on tomorrow, Lord's willing, we will start in the book of Acts, and we will start, just a heads up, we will start with Acts chapter 2, and we will pick up with the apostles carrying out this final and great commission that Jesus gave them, and we will see the first gospel sermon preached, and I want y'all to look out for this pattern throughout every conversion that we go to. They hear, believe, confess, repent, and be baptized. And when we get through with these conversions and we keep putting them together, that's all you're going to ever get. So if you don't get out of that what you was taught for salvation, then you know that even though you was baptized, you weren't baptized right. Amen. Amen. So it's been a wonderful night. It's been a wonderful lesson, and it's a blessing for us to come together and share this word, and I just pray that anybody who knows that they may need some more teaching or they may be, you know, lost right now, you know, put your pride to the side and come to God. You know, nobody on this phone is in any position to look down on the knicks or say, well, I know more Bible scripture than this, or, you know, because that's not what it's about. It's about us serving the Lord and just wanting to be obedient to God, regardless of how long we didn't live, how long we didn't went to church. It don't matter if we don't get it right. We got to get it right. This one thing we got to get right before we die. If you don't get this right, if you miss heaven, you miss everything, and there's a great saying where they say the road that leads to hell is paved with bricks of great intention.
