Let's make a praising noise to say that God is great Let's make a praising noise unto the Lord Here is my praising noise Here is my praising noise Here is my praising noise unto the Lord We are making noise to say that God is great We are making noise unto the Lord Hello everyone, it's lovely to be with you for this next hour hopefully, I'm Jenny And I'm Peter, it's great to be with you Now our Easter celebrations have come and gone, yes they have But of course Easter or the effect of Easter is always with us So we've got a bit more about that today And also we have a wonderful thought for the week from June Low about our being in the image of God And we need to keep our ears well open today for our Just for Fun quiz And now it's time for our Just for Fun quiz, time for question one Thank you Blaise, now I thought radio is a listening medium isn't it? So that's why we want you to have your ears well open today Because I thought we'd have something about sounds So today for the three questions we're going to play you a sound each time And just for about a couple of seconds, so you have to listen carefully And you can decide what you think that sound is So here comes sound number one Wow, maybe you recognise that easily Or maybe you haven't heard that sound for a very long time Well I can give you one good hint, it's not a packet of crisps Anyway, while you think about it, let's enjoy listening to The Goodness of God by Jen Johnson I love you Lord, for your mercy never fails me All my days I've been held in your hands From the moment that I wake up until I lay my head Oh I will sing of the goodness of God And all my life you have been strange And all my life you have been so broken And every breath that I am able to breathe Oh I will sing of the goodness of God I love your voice You have led me through the fire Through the darkest night You were close like no other I've known you as a father I've known you as a kid And I have lived in the goodness of God And all my life you have been faithful And all my life you have been so broken And every breath that I am able to breathe Oh I will sing of the goodness of God Yeah Cause your goodness is running out It's running out Yeah Your goodness is running out It's running out Yeah My life is running out I'm so blessed now I give you everything Your goodness is running out It's running out Yeah Your goodness is running out It's running out Yeah Your goodness is running out It's running out Yeah My life is running out I'm so blessed now I give you everything Your goodness is running out It's running out Yeah That's 0787 9402 114 You can use your email at bt at ktcrfm.com Or through Facebook message at Believe Together Radio To listen live, you can listen on the radio at 105.8 FM and Dad's Plus Or you can go to our website at www.ktcrfm.com However, if you would like to listen again, go to audio.com slash believe dash together And now it's time for our Just for Fun quiz Time for question 2 Thank you Blaze Yes Second sound is this What is this sound which I think you really will recognise Applause Well, thank you Jenny That may be a common sound but I don't know if everyone's going to recognise it Well, we'll just have to wait and see We'll get the answers later We will indeed Now last year we played something for Dennis Well he wanted to play it for the church And he's been very ill I'm not sure how he is at this moment But we are playing this for everybody who's struggling It's a lovely song called I Will Go On by the Gaither Vocal Band I will go on I repent For moments I have spent Recalling all the pain And failures of my past I repent For dwelling on the seas Beyond my power to change The chains that held me fast I will go on My past I leave behind me I gladly take His mercy and his love He is joy and he is peace He is strength and sweet relief I know he is and I am me I will go on I will go on I give up The bitterness and hate The blaming and shame For all my discontent The guilt and pain I empty from my cup So God can fill it up With peace and sweet content I will go on My past I leave behind me I gladly take His mercy and his love He is joy and he is peace He is strength and sweet relief I know he is and I am me I will go on My past I leave behind me I gladly take His mercy and his love He is joy and he is peace He is strength and sweet relief I know he is and I am me I will go on I will go on We said we'd come and talk about Easter again this week Well, here's a little story to think about You know, when I'm reading the Bible, I often find that some of the little details are very interesting and help us to realize that these are people just like you and me in the stories Now, think about this one Why did Jesus fold the linen burial face cloth after his resurrection? Well, here's one possible explanation The Gospel of John in chapter 20 verse 7 tells us that the napkin or the cloth over his face was not just left laying there like the grave clothes The Bible takes an entire verse to tell us that the napkin was neatly folded and was placed separate from the grave clothes This could be explained by a Hebrew tradition of that day The folded napkin had to do with the master and servant and every Jewish boy knew this tradition When the servant set the dinner table for the master he made sure that it was exactly the way the master wanted it The table was furnished perfectly and then the servant would wait just out of sight until the master had finished eating and the servant would not dare touch that table until the master was finished Now, if the master were done eating he would rise from the table wipe his fingers, his mouth and clean his beard and would toss the napkin onto the table The servant would then know to clear the table For in those days, the thrown aside napkin meant I'm done But, if the master got up from the table and folded his napkin and laid it beside his plate the servant would not dare touch the table Because, the folded napkin meant I'm coming back So, in this story from the Bible could it be another pointer to the fact that Jesus is coming back? Marvelous message we bring Glorious carol we sing Wonderful word of the King Jesus is coming again Coming again Coming again Maybe morning, maybe noon Maybe evening and maybe soon Coming again Coming again Oh, what a wonderful day it will be Jesus is coming again Standing before Him at last Trial and trouble all past Crowns at His feet we will cast Jesus is coming again Coming again Coming again Maybe morning, maybe noon Maybe evening and maybe soon Coming again Coming again Oh, what a wonderful day it will be Jesus is coming again Coming again Coming again Maybe morning, maybe noon Maybe evening and maybe soon Coming again Coming again Oh, what a wonderful day it will be Jesus is coming again Thank you to Dale Williams for that one Jesus is coming again And now it's time for our Just for Fun quiz and time for question three So, thank you Blaise Here comes the third sound What sound is this? curtain in the temple was torn from top to bottom wasn't it on Good Friday now then how about the next sound what is this now we hear that sound quite a lot don't we I wonder if you got it it was rain that particular clip was from rain in a forest a rain forest and you could actually go and find that on the internet we'll put a link on our Facebook page as usual because that recording lasts over 10 hours and it is designed to be a gentle natural form of white noise which you can play in your bedroom to help you have a good night's sleep well what do you know well we've had quite a lot of rain here recently haven't we so we know what that sound is I wonder if you know where rain is mentioned in the Bible you might like to look that up now the third sound what was this now I wonder if you had that sound in your house that was actually me in my kitchen frying some fish now why was I doing that well there's lots of food mentioned in the Bible and cooking of food of course after Jesus was resurrected he cooked some breakfast and fish for them on the beach didn't he so I don't know if it would have sounded quite like that but hey that was my cooking fish and we did enjoy eating it later didn't we Peter oh yes in this clip from a very favourite song of most people I'm sure I wonder if you will notice where it talks about a sound what is it I touch a leaf I see the sky then I know why I believe every time I hear a newborn baby cry I touch a leaf I see the sky then I know why I believe that was an old recording of I believe and of course it was the sound of a baby crying now I wonder how you did in our quiz this week if you have any questions that you think could be put together to make a free question quiz with answers please then just contact us we would welcome more contact us and give us some quiz questions thank you you're listening to I believe together a church is together KTCR FM 105.8 and online and now for the thought for the week for the kentrum talking newspaper hello my name is June Lo I'm a reader in kentrum parish and I've had the privilege of sharing the thought for the day with you before and it's lovely to be sharing this time with you again when you were growing up did you ever hear the refrain you look just like your mother or you are the image of your father and did you have to live through the comparisons such as he's got his father's chin, nose, ears or she's got her mother's eyes, nose, mouth making you feel a bit like a laboratory specimen I used to dread meeting any of my parents friends when we were out together and I can still remember squirming with embarrassment when one friend of my mother's scrutinised me from top to toe and asked with mock dismay at my height to age ratio is she going to be a police woman well enough said what I didn't understand then was that parents have a natural pride in their children and are always pleased to receive compliments about them as a reflection of themselves it's irresistible parents just want to know that they have passed on their very best genes to their children so let's just admit it haven't we all done the same with our children the amazing news is that whether we reflect our earthly parents best points or not we are made in the image of God let's just rest with that thought for a minute well why we might ask because God delights in us and in our reflection of him Zephaniah chapter 3 verse 17 puts it like this the Lord your God is in your midst a warrior who gives victory he will rejoice over you with gladness he will renew you in his love he will exult over you with loud singing as on a day of festival sitting in the glow of salvation post Easter having gone through the trials of Good Friday with collective grief we have the blessed assurance that everything that was necessary for our redemption was accomplished through Jesus' work on our behalf there is nothing that needs to be added to his work he has made himself available to us in Jesus the one who knows the way from death to life from darkness to light Jesus says I am the way, the truth and the life no one comes to the Father except through me God created us and continually sustains us everything that exists comes from him in him all things hold together Colossians 1 17 God did not create the world and then walk away telling us to just get on with it that he'd done the hard bit now it was up to us worship and lordship over creation are essential for every moment of every day if he took his hands off us for a minute we would fall apart he recreates every day the seasons come and go through his created sun, moon and the words of Graham Kendrick's song the stars that his hands flung into space to cruel nails surrendered he is the one who continues to grant life to our bodies and renews our hearts and souls with his creative redemptive love he will never leave us every day is a gift from God made with such attention to detail that we can only marvel at the world around us and the people in it who are also reflecting God's image so we shouldn't be concerned about similar eyes noses and mouths which may bolster our sense of belonging to an earthly family but it's our likeness to God that is more important and this often gets overlooked can you imagine looking like the creator of the world the creator of each one of us it's hard to explain even harder to understand but it can best be revealed by how we live how we show our love and concern for others who also look like God if we look for him we will find him in the faces of babies and children in the faces of youthful vitality in the faces of the middle years in the faces of the elderly and in the faces of those in the extreme winter of their years where every dear face is graced with the story of life everyone looks like God Saint Paul tells us that Jesus is sufficient to give strength for the trials to guide us to provide for us and to overcome our confusion when the world threatens to distort the image of our father God in all of us so we must take heart don't you know we're the image of our father until next time stay well and go safely every blessing and
