The host of the "Overcome and Become" podcast, Allie Hansen, introduces herself and shares her excitement for starting the podcast. She explains that the podcast will focus on overcoming challenges and becoming the best version of oneself in all aspects of life. Allie talks about her goals and dreams, including becoming a world-traveling motivational speaker and building a fitness empire. She shares her personal story of being diagnosed with leukemia at a young age and emphasizes the importance of staying positive and motivated. Allie believes that one person can make a difference and hopes to inspire and change the lives of others through her podcast and career. Hello, this is your host, Allie Hansen, and welcome back to the Overcome and Become podcast. Let's get motivated. Ah, hello, guys. I am so excited to be here. You do not understand my excitement level for this podcast. I have been waiting forever to do this and been in the making for a little over the year and partially because I have been saving money to buy equipment so that I would be able to have good sound and audio quality for you guys, and I'm just so excited. This Overcome and Become podcast is hopefully going to be one of the best times you have, hopefully it motivates you to get out of bed on Wednesdays because that's when it's going to be posted, it's going to be posted once a week, and that is on Wednesday, and I decided to do Wednesday because I think it's perfect, we kind of get to the middle of the week and we just need that little extra boost of motivation, so that's why I decided to do it then, and I'm so excited. First off, I'd like to talk about what Overcome and Become is. Now, I will be sharing my story a little bit later on in this podcast, and that's the Overcome part of it, but I don't want this to just be a sob story or about all of your trials and hard times. This is going to be an uplifting and motivating thing. Yes, we are going to talk about trials, but more or less of talking about trials, it's going to be, yeah, we went through that and now look at what we're becoming out of it. What can you do with your life? This is a motivational podcast in all areas of your life, whether that's physically, socially, spiritually, financially, pretty much any way you can think of. I don't know if I got them all. I'm pretty sure I didn't, but any way you can think of, we are going to be uplifting and motivating people. This is going to be a positive community where anyone is welcome, boys, girls, literally anyone, and hopefully you all enjoy it. Hopefully we can grow this community to something absolutely amazing and have it be something that people enjoy listening to. The name Overcome and Become was a long process in the making because, like I said, this has been over a year worth of making this podcast, but also I've been thinking about doing it for about a year and a half now. When you think about it, one of the first things that comes into your mind when you think about it is what should I name it? I came up with so many different names and this is what I decided to come with. I thought it was the perfect name. I have so many goals and dreams for different career ideas in life and Overcome and Become is going to be the base of everything. That's kind of going to be what everything is built off of and, yeah, it's just going to be a good time. We don't judge people here. We accept everyone and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to be here and be recording this. I think it's only right that you guys should get to know your host. My name is Allie Hansen. I am 15 years old and I am a blonde. I'm naturally blonde, blonde at heart. Some people call me a blonde. I live in Page, Arizona, one of the most beautiful places on earth. We get so many tourists here and if you've never been to Page, you have to come because the canyons and the lakes and the red rocks, everything about it is absolutely stunning. I love my family. Some of my favorite things to do are working out and you'll kind of notice that along the way because that's going to be part of my career and I love wake surfing. So, like I said, we live by Lake Powell and one of the big things to do here is get a surf boat so you can surf behind it and, oh, I just love it. I am a beach girl, a water girl, ocean girl, whatever you want to call me. If I'm in the water, I'm so happy, whether that's at Lake Powell or at the ocean somewhere, I just love it. I love traveling. I would love to be able to travel for my future career and that would just be an absolute dream. I am going to try and make it a goal to be able to travel every six months to a new place and I just love getting out, meeting new people and exploring new things. I recently just went on a cruise and it really made me realize how nice people are when you get out and meet new people and let me just give a shout out to people from Brazil. You guys, you are the most outgoing and nice people I've literally ever met. So, Brazil is on the bucket list for places I want to travel for sure. I have a little Pomeranian. He's purebred. His name is Kimo and you'll understand why his name is Kimo later and let's see. What else is there to know about me? I'm in high school because I'm only 15 and I'm so excited to get my driver's license. It's going to be one of the greatest days of my life, a day that I've been looking forward to forever and I'm sure we'll talk about other little things about me in next episodes. So, we don't have to cover everything here, but I do want to talk about my career. So, with my career, I want to be a world-traveling motivational speaker, which is why I think it would be absolutely phenomenal to be able to go to a place and speak and then explore the area and then go to a new place and speak. It would just be an absolute dream. Something that goes along with speaking is this podcast. So, I will hopefully continue doing this podcast for years and years and years, a very, very long time, have some super exciting guests on here and just really build this platform and community and it has always been my dream to be an entrepreneur. I don't want to go work for someone or be miserable in a job that I only did because it pays well. I want to really chase dreams. One of my favorite quotes ever is, when it's hard to get out of bed in the morning, do you want to stay here and dream about your dreams or get up and chase them? I love that quote. You're going to hear a lot of quotes on here because I am definitely a quote girl. I love them. They're super motivational. Back to the fitness thing, I would love to be able to build a gym and have it just be kind of an open gym, but also a room with spin bikes and then a room for pilates classes or hot yoga, just those kinds of things. That would be amazing. Building an active and land wear line. I have a logo. It's a little OB logo. That's what would go on the clothes, not the whole overcome and become thing. I think that goes along really well with fitness because you get motivation from your cue outfit to work out, but rest days are also super important, so incorporating that land wear as well would be super, super fun. Just a fitness instructor goes along with that. I kind of have two sides of things. I have my whole fitness side of things. I have kind of my entrepreneur, which is really everything but building my own clothing brand, and then I have the speaking and podcast side of things. Yes, I know it sounds like a lot, but a lot of these things do go hand in hand really well. Fitness is something that I want to really build that platform, and that goes along with positivity and motivation. Ultimately, I guess my career is just going to be hopefully a motivational person to inspire people to become the best versions of themselves and do better every single day. I chose this path because, like I said, I don't want to wake up and be miserable going to my job every single day, and I don't want to do it for the money. I want to do it for that passion inside of me and that drive to make a small piece of the world a little bit better, and that is why we have this podcast. I also did not want to wait until I graduated high school and then went to college to have to start my career and start my dreams, so I'm starting it now. I truly believe that it all starts with one follower and one listen and just one person you have to touch for something to become amazing, and that is what this podcast is going to be. I'm not a very famous or well-known person. I'm definitely starting from the bottom, but I think that's what's absolutely incredible about this whole journey is building my way from the bottom to the top. I don't want to be an average motivational speaker. I want to become someone great, someone amazing that people know and want to come speak for them, but ultimately, I want to change the lives of people. I always said that when I speak to people, I don't want to speak to them, have them be on that super motivational high all week and then just completely forget about it. I really want to have incredible words that will stay with people for as long as they want it to stay with them. I know that there's things I've listened to where I'm on a super motivational high because of it, and then there's other things that I listen to and I just never forget. It will pop up in my mind every single day and just little habits that I'm like, oh, yeah, I need to do this. Oh, yeah, I need to do this. That is what I hope to do. Now, moving on, we are going to continue talking about my story because that is what this first episode is about. It's not really about any motivational topic. It's just more of an introduction to who I am because I think that's only right when I'm your host and I will be controlling this and be on every single episode. So on October 16th, 2016, I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, type B cell. Ninety six percent of my blood cells were cancer. Yes, we're cancer cells. And ninety eight percent of my bone marrow were cancer cells. And here I am looking back and thinking, how in the world was I alive? Because that is literally almost my entire body completely taken over with cancer cells. I was incredibly sick. I was having excruciating pain in my foot to where it got to a point I couldn't even stand on it, put any weight on it whatsoever. And that was really hard. I was diagnosed a week before my ninth birthday. So I was actually eight and eight is young. It's really young. Just looking back, I'm like, how did I do that? How did I manage that? And obviously, so much is going through your mind. But the biggest thing that hit me the hardest was that I was going to have to fight for two and a half years. I was like, are you kidding me? Two and a half years. Who do you think I am? Staying here, I have a life to live. At the time, I was a dancer. I love dance. I went to dance for multiple hours every single day. And I went to school. I had friends, all of these things. And I was like, you think I have time to spend two and a half years going to hospitals and doctors and losing all of my hair and being so weak that I can't get off the couch and all of these things. And yes, that did happen. And looking back, this could be hard for some people to wrap their head around. But that was the best day of my life. And people may be wondering why. That is because I would not be who I am today without that experience and that single day that turned into a lifelong journey. Yes, I had to fight for two and a half years. But cancer is going to affect me the rest of my life. Something to know about chemotherapy, which is the drug that I took, is that it has so many long-term side effects. And that's something that people don't see all the time and realize with cancer. They see, oh, well, they lose all their hair. And they get super sick. And they have to take this medicine for a certain amount of time. And then it's done. It's not done. It's never done. I have been cancer-free. I actually just had my cancerversary in the beginning of February. And I was four years out of treatment, which is absolutely incredible. I am so grateful for that and to be able to be here. I will not be cured, considered cured. So I'm 21. So I'm currently in remission. But since my last day of chemo to being four years out, I have had so many side effects. I have had things where they had to remove my lymph nodes because that could be a sign of relapse and just so many things I have to stress about and worry about. And my mom asked me the other day, she was like, do you think I can finally stop worrying about you relapsing? Which is sad. That's really a hard thing to go through. So even though I have all of this hair and I have built strength back up and truly am living the life of my dreams, there's always that mind in the back of your thought where what could happen? Or I have this huge past. I still have to go to doctors very consistently. My doctors always joke with me that I'm a very special person. And I wouldn't say exactly in the best way because basically there's things that happen when you go through cancer. And for me, that happens the worst it could. I had some weird thing that happened. And I think that's what makes me even more grateful to be alive is because I know all of those things I went through and all of those complications that I had and things I've been through since then. And that is really what has shaped and strengthened me today. I am proud of who I am. And that's something we're definitely going to talk about on here is the difference between being proud of who you are and being cocky. Cocky is being super self-centered and just thinking you're better than everyone else and being proud of yourself is an okay thing. There is a big self-love community and platform in our world right now, which I absolutely love. And I think that is so important because it would be really sad if I wasn't proud of where I came to where I am today. I have been in so much pain and so physically and mentally weak that I literally could not get up and walk two feet to the bathroom. I literally could not get out of my house or get off my bed. And to be where I am today, I love working out. My mom asked me one time, where you're so young, where do you find the motivation to work out? And no one had ever asked me that question before. And so I told her after I thought about it for a little while that I never want to be like that again. I never want to be that weak in my life to where I could not get off the couch and I never want to feel that way again. So I make it a goal every single day to get some sort of movement in to fuel my body with good food because that's a really challenging thing when you're going through all this medication and all of this illness in your body, you lose so much weight, which is part of why you get so weak. And so I try to fill my body with nutritious food that's going to make me happy, make me feel good, make me feel like I could run a marathon. And just having the gift to wake up and breathe and live every single day is absolutely amazing to me. It's something that if you haven't gone through a huge trial in your life, something that a lot of people don't think about. I know when before I was diagnosed, that wasn't something that I woke up and thought about every single day. Wow, I get to wake up, stand on my feet and breathe and run and be a normal kid. That was the hardest thing for me going through all of that was I constantly wanted to be a normal kid. I wanted to go to school and be able to do the other things other kids did. Wow, makes me a little emotional. It was hard. Life really sucks sometimes, I'm going to be honest with you. And there are going to be thin brick walls in your way and there are going to be thick brick walls in your way. And we just have to remember that before we came to Earth, we chose to go through these things. We chose to fight these battles. And from now on, since October 16, 2016, I haven't looked for ways over the wall or around the wall. I know that I agreed to do this and so I'm going to come down here and go right through the wall and continue living the life of my dreams because that's what life is all about. I don't know that tomorrow is promised and I know that I'm going to wake up and live my life to the fullest today because that is what it's all about. Life is so short to not be living how you want to live it. I saw this little reel on Instagram and it was talking about how if you are not living the life of your dreams right now, change it. Work harder, do your best to be able to change it because life is so short and it's something that people take for granted too often and that's something we need to change. I'm not saying I'm perfect by any means because I'm not. I continually make mistakes and something that was really brought to my attention actually yesterday, I was listening to this motivational speaker in person and he was talking about how he's also a beatboxer. He got the opportunity to go to Africa and beatbox and make music for these kids and he said those kids walk miles and miles every single day to get an education that isn't even as good as the education that I get to get up and I get a ride to school every single day and even if I walked it would be maybe three, five minutes from my house to get there and it just made me think that I have left school for no reason two times in my whole life and one of those times was this freshman year and I kind of regret doing that now. I'm like I take this education for granted. So today when I went to school I was like okay I am so happy and grateful that I get to be here and I'm going to use this education because I always talk about how I want to get all these scholarships for college but that's because I don't want to pay for college. Right now I'm getting a free good education and that's just a little thing in life that so many people take for granted and don't really realize and I didn't even really realize it until it was brought to my attention and I was like oh and like I said I hope to be a very motivational person and part of becoming the best version of yourself is not taking things for granted and being truly grateful for absolutely everything. I'm so grateful for this life. I'm so grateful for this platform that I get to build for you guys whether that starts with one and build that to a hundred or hopefully thousands or even millions of people that want to listen to this podcast. This is going to be an incredible time and we are going to have some super fun inspiring guests on here. I do live in kind of a remote place so you're not going to have guests on here all the time but I promise to have something new every week and be able to uplift and motivate people to become better each and every day and one last little side note that I think is really funny because I just realized it is I have recorded this exact podcast in my bedroom. I'm going to be dead serious with you probably 20 times and I decided to come out to my gym. We have a little gym in our garage and this is it. This is for sure my setup from now on. I'm not sure why just mixing up the environment from my bedroom to the gym maybe it's because it's a place I love but yeah sorry little side tangent but I hope you all feel motivated from this and make sure to go follow me on Instagram. It's a good time. I post on there every single day. I post on here once a week and I can't wait to build this platform and community. Thank you guys so much and I hope to see you next week for a super fun episode.
