Boom, we started then um, it'd be nice if we had a little camera button I already got that going. Oh, we're so we're live. Yeah, we're live already. Okay, cool clap Clap clap. Yeah, we'll be able to see that in the thing. We'll be good There it is right there cool We'll set the impact logo Make sure my phones are Next time bro, you probably want to set this shit up. So we're like facing this and this is almost like a desk Yeah, yeah room for improvement, yeah We'll fix it next time. This is how we're gonna start it just like this podcast one Room for improvement probably should stay near this mic. Yeah. Yeah, we gotta stay near the mics Did you know i'm competing No, i'm competing three times next month You told me yeah. Yeah, you did. You also told me about your championship. Uh, you know when that you had that was on facebook Uh, yeah championship strong word for the fuji tournament State champion is definitely a very strong word. Yeah, I was definitely uh Milking that title because it's a state championship. Yeah, but ain't no ibjjf or adcc or anything like that. Yeah Yeah, but I mean it was I mean up. I've won. I won my bracket intermediate. It looked impressive Yeah purple belt and and below it's intermediate. Mm-hmm, you know Brown black belt and above expert not ready for that. I like the way you cut your video though Thank you. That was dope. Thank you and got all the submissions. Hey, and it looked like you did it easily um Like really I was just uh, I was really surprised how much better shape I was in those guys Yeah, because I think they're like seven minute rounds Got it, which is a long time, right? But like I was like I was they were they were gassed like gassed like uh one of the stand-ups I was able to hit was really just because he was holding on for dear life just I gotta hold this guy down until time runs out. I'm just working working working. Yeah, get off me Yeah, and like he didn't even stand back up to his feet. He was so gassed. I was like, wow, really? Just start neutral whatever take down. So it was really more about them It was about the shape you're in you in better shape. You've been working out you came right off that fight Oh, yeah. Yeah, just got I just lost a humiliating fight that I was in such good shape for And like I didn't even get to use it. Like I was so excited like I figured out how to get my conditioning perfect Wow Yeah, like, uh Really? I I stopped weight lifting Like I was fucking jacked when we fought when I fought mj. Yeah, I was fucking bench press deadlift squat 315 pounds on bitch That shit was heavy Those muscles did not translate well muscle like bodybuilding power lifting does not transfer well to fight. Yeah, probably because my frames not My natural frame isn't designed to carry all those heavy power lifting muscles, but so I got rid of I was talking with john fitch And I got rid of the weight lifting. So I focused more focusing more on high volume low intensity dumbbell kettlebell Workouts right and then I didn't I felt like with with Mj my coach didn't have me do enough sprints And let me let me rephrase that i'm not trying to throw my coach on the bus I did not do enough like wind sprints during like yeah Preparing for the mj fight. I did a lot of long distance running. Yeah and and spars and stuff, but um That type of conditioning where you sprint sprint sprint sprint sprint sprint for 15 to 30 seconds, right? And I didn't do like much of that well, I I pulled a I pulled my I think what was it my hamstring During that if I remember and while I was getting ready to fight mj I thought it was your groin my groin. Sorry. Yeah, I pulled my groin. Yeah, and it's because I was doing those sprints So I couldn't do sprints it'd be because of that reason but When I was getting ready to fight that calvin guy, um, I did a lot more Uh high intensity low volume sprints like eight sets of like 15 seconds. Yeah, because that's what a fight is Like a fight is like a lot of like five minutes or three amateur Three minutes of here pop pop then we engage eight to 15 seconds Let's scramble up to the feet. Yeah, that makes a lot and we got to keep going That makes a lot of sense than doing all that endurance running. Yeah, not just long distance. Yeah, not just like uh at a comfortable pace But like gut check gut check gut check, okay back to those moderate pace gut check gut check, uh intervals sprints I guess I mean when you think about like long distance runners man, like they're usually thinner guys Slimmer guys, you know that can really carry that distance Like a lot of times like when you're bigger and I just had this experience myself because i've already been a muscular frame Like the when i'm and that's why I don't lift weight at all, right? And i'm not even a small guy like yeah, even without the like I have noticed lost like power and size but for a welterweight Still kind of still kind of big. That's what it was. It was in your head that you weren't big enough for the weight class um, well, I already knew that uh I'm bigger than most of these guys at 170. Yeah like uh I kind of just wanted to beat mj at the scale So Hey, so Yo, oh, yeah, it's gone. All right, cool. Yeah, but I just kind of wanted to I I like my when my opponents see me at weigh-ins like damn It's a big 170. Yeah Yeah, so I kind of exaggerated like the trap workouts and the deadlift workouts and um Ah, yeah, you did that because when I saw you in there Yeah, but my coach will tell you my coach will tell you american top team he'll tell me gloy You're a 155 or? Like coach there's no way 55 bro They keep telling me like you're 170. I'm like, yeah. No i'm not. Yeah. I'm 170 for like Two seconds. Yeah, ditto bro. As soon as I weigh in Austin, where's my water? bro 170 It was like the toughest cut for me bro, like I haven't been one I weighed 167 pounds when I was in eighth grade It it took me it took me like five hours Five to six hours to make 170 of her mom Yeah because the sauna I had Typically saunas are 170 to 190. Sorry. My sinuses are Typically a sauna is like 170 to 190. Yeah Uh, they had a sauna for me in vermont and it was like 144 150 Oh, man So it just wasn't hot enough, right? So I got to the I got to the sauna about 7 a.m And weigh-ins were at three o'clock Or somewhere around there And uh, I asked because the sauna wasn't hot enough if I could do like 175 But uh, my opponent was like no So typically it takes like three hours for me to lose that weight I think actually took me like six hours Because it wasn't hot enough but the thing is even at 150 degrees it still sucks in there Yeah, because it's 190 degrees at least you can just get over with and You know half the time man when I had to make 170 bro. I had to do it at the hotel in a hot tub the night before like Kill me. I I still got the videos. I think I don't like doing it the night before Yeah, no I didn't have a choice though. I'm too hungry. I didn't have a choice like I had to show up at 170 in the morning That's different. Yeah, I guess it depends on when weigh-ins are but even if because even if weigh-ins were at noon or one I'd rather go to bed at 176 and wake up at 5 00 a.m Because I won't be able to sleep And that's another thing I figured out is I was I perform better when i'm well rested Yes, so i've been more deliberate about going to bed all the time Yeah, like me and bruce when we're in vermont, like I made sure before the fight we were in bed like by 10 o'clock, right? because when When you wake up before a fight or the day of the fight I don't know about you but for me like i'll wake up it's like 7 00 a.m. And I can't fall back to sleep Of course because you get those nerves You're anxiety you're anxious well the thing is like i'm not even i'm not even scared of this guy No, it's just like you think that's why i'm like, what am I nervous? I'm not scared of this guy But I don't think it's I don't think it's something that you can help dude, because I feel the same way i've been the same in the same situation like i'm about to fight and my My heart is racing and i'm like i'm not even tripping but my body is preparing itself It's not even I don't think it's about what I want it to do It knows i'm getting ready to go into combat That i'm it knows when i'm about to when this cage door closes. We're about to have a confrontation with this person Yeah, you know what? I mean? I can't even stop it. But then as soon as it's it's time to go We get in the cage and we start fighting it all goes away that is that is true like um Soon as like when you're walking in there And the music's playing and you're like fucking doing your laughs in the cage like what the fuck am I doing? Oh, we got a sweet you can't curse. Yeah, we can add beats All right. This is why we're not live I guess But practice right but like you were saying like Once once you're in there And then your opponent walks in it's like and they shut the door the ref says are you ready? Are you ready? Well, i'm here now. Yeah, it's like all right fist bump, but i'm thinking on the fist bump like, uh i'm, always thinking like if If my my opponent gonna sucker punch me really after the fist bump, really? I'm, kind of always kind of thinking at the back of my mind if they're I don't know about it You usually touch gloves. You don't you're that or this is also very like, uh weird I'm, also thinking what he embarrasses me in front of this whole crowd. It doesn't touch my glove. It doesn't touch gloves I don't I usually don't touch i'm probably just like no All right. Okay. I come right out and i'm like I'm on i'm zoned in i'm locked in i'm focused. I don't even hear my coaches barely But you see that you're you're already beating your opponent. They're kind of like me because I just kind of embarrass me in front of this crowd. Okay, so f me, right? Okay You're you're winning this one you the fight's not over Yeah, like I just like feel like touching the gloves is like breaking my focus It's like it's it's like a it's like a it's like a pattern interruption to what i'm like focus i'm about to like laser focus Before you well, sometimes I have our guys, uh, drill that Like touch gloves and fight. Yeah, like starting off the sides of the cage Meet in the middle touch gloves. Yeah, how are you going to exchange? Yes I feel like with calvin I should have did that more What drilled touch gloves fight? Yeah, because like I was so calm like it was weird. Yeah, I was not nervous at all Like I was like I was very you thought you had it in the bag. Um I don't know why just experience I guess. Yeah. Um, I was more so like uh Uh, I wanted to get the fight over with as soon as possible like backstage in the locker room like How do you feel glorious? I feel good. Are you nervous? Because I just want to get over with really I just I can't wait for it to be over. Yeah I wonder what happens really? Yeah, but uh while we're in there like I felt very calm and i've been practicing That too because I feel like uh you know if I I can walk people down and like smash them intimidate them. Yeah, but like with mj like what if I do that and doesn't work So actually this time i'm going to try something a little different try to be More peppering them up and wait for the knockout Yeah, wait for the big shot. Yeah, just wait bro. Like Instead of picking them up slam. I just wanted to I just wanted to be loosey-goosey, I guess I think bro Like so this is I love the top of the direction right now because this is something I'm really always talking about. It's principles And this is fighting life Relationship, it don't matter what you're doing pull Don't push Pull Pull What do you mean by that now? Like so All right, so let's get deep So you ever I know you heard of the unstoppable force the unmovable object, right? Of course So what does that mean to you? Uh, I think of isaac newton physics, okay I think that's a uh, a thermodynamic law or something like that. Now this I had a revelation. No one told me this Literally, it was like god was revealing me like wisdom to me But the unstoppable force forces of nature Okay, let's talk about the wind the water grass the unmovable object a mountain The mountain is there the rain can come Water can come and fill it up and ocean can be on top of it You can grow grass on top of it, but that mountain's there. It's the truth. It's unmovable. It's an unmovable object The forces will will recede the rain will stop the water will come down The grass can be removed. The mountain is always there It's an unmovable object So I look at unmovable objects like defense And I look at unstoppable forces like offense So an unstoppable force is like coming at you right If you understand defense you can use all that power against them You can use their momentum against them. Boom hit them when they're coming in That's how a lot of people get knocked out being too aggressive coming in too hard with a bunch of punches Boom, your own momentum is knocking you out Anderson silva used to do that to people all the time. He's just walking backwards hitting Remember he hit forrest griffin in the face knocked him out. I I and every time I watch that I think Oh I'd kind of fight like that, bro Bro, i'm telling you bro And that's what I do is what because the way what I do is I lay but to be fair Anderson silva's iq sniping iqs But it's a principle. Well, right, right, right. It's why do you think he comes out in the first couple parts of the round? He's like watching you and it's so slow fight And that's a great example because I also wanted to have more what john fitch calls like ebb and flow into this fight Yeah, I wanted to have a different strategy because I've It was too chaotic. It's too chaotic. Yeah a lot of chaos, which which Which often would work for me because like I said, he's bigger than the guys I fight. I just kind of bully him So this time I just kind of wanted to have more uh Ebb and flow and kind of display how good of a striker i'm on my feet. I don't know why I wrestled so much against mj Like man, it was natural for you Honestly, yeah, once we engaged and we started wrestling I think instinctually like I said, like I like to wrestle too. Actually. I hate wrestling wrestling's hard I would much rather like this But yeah, but you are wrestlers are the most dominant fighters and mma. Yeah, but I don't know what You know, i'm not trying to be um Disrespectful or anything. Yeah, you know i'm not i'm just an amateur with You know, yeah but very But you saw that movie bro. I forget what it's called, but it's about that boxer And uh, he was really like he was a champion and forrest whitaker's in the movie But then he lost his title and he lost everything he ended up having to fight again And then forrest whitaker taught him how to fight And how to use defense and the whole movie was about that because his wife is like It's the way you fight, honey You're not gonna last you're gonna you're gonna kill yourself Yeah, you know what i'm talking about, bro uh, it sounds familiar, but That whole movie was about what i'm talking about That whole movie was about that because what I see when I watch boxing I see two dudes they square up Literally, that's what it's called squaring up. Let's square up Because we can't wrestle. Yeah, but look what it means to square up It's like it's like my offense into your office. There's two dudes not even really moving their heads. Just punch it Just punching at each other watch a boxing match You'll see that like you'll see that a lot of you You'll see a lot of times bro. It's just it's just them punching offense in the offense But there ain't a lot of defense Which is maneuvering Pulling them in like floyd will pull you in he'll draw you in Then he'll counter you And then but when you draw them in usually they're over committing I will say though like Boxing like to be a really good boxer. Yeah Like even being a really good amateur boxer. Yeah, it's very difficult because it's so competitive and like guys are so good at that art Which one? The boxing. Okay, like to be a good boxer. Yeah, it's very difficult I think that it could be difficult, but I think if you know how to um, if you can because really fighting is all about catching your opponent off guard And so anything you don't train you can't defend against So if you're a boxer and all you know is boxing right, right, right, right, right No, what I mean by that is like as a mma fighter. Yeah, I think my sam's pretty good Yeah, but like, uh, i've sparred with like real boxers. Yeah Like real good boxers, right? And like I can't like I can't even hit them And I just kind of you know, and it's whatever I don't care. I just get beat up like they're good. Yeah Yeah, they're very untelegraphed. They're very fast very quick in order to step they know where to slip. Yeah Then I spar with some decent guys probably not guys the level you're talking about Probably not not that good, you know, but most of the boxers that I that I spar with Like i'm i'm able to i'm able to i'm able to control the fight. Yeah, the majority of of the time, uh, like in uh I'm, not gonna say I don't want to sound like a douchebag. Yeah, well majority of time here. That's when people That can outwork me in the boxing sparring session or mma sparring session But uh, I was at american top team. We're not gonna drop any names But uh, I kind of got into it with his boxer. He's really good. Yeah, he's really good And I told him when we're sparring like he's he's blasting me like i'm seeing stars off of his jab And i'm telling like hey, bro I got a fight coming up man. He's lighting up and uh We're going at it and we're going at it again. We're in the underhook position a clinch And I was like bro, if you don't if you don't chill i'm gonna blast double your ass. He's like, all right then white boy All right. I was like, oh shit. We're about to fight for real But you know Once we were done We know fist pump everything was all good. Yeah, but uh, i'll never work with that guy again. What a dick Ha ha ha ha Like dude, I got cycling you're trying to beat my ass. Oh my god Smash you nah, bro. I was I remember when I was in cali, bro, and I was training at ko boxing It was a boxing. It was like a little boxing gym, but it was really like more like a workout place that had boxers at it You know, it wasn't yeah, it wasn't like super high level boxers there, you know But like they were so biased against mma, you know And it's like against what I was just because I was doing mixed martial arts and not boxing You know and they were biased against me because of that and it was all it was all about always all the time trying to Prove I can't fight. Yeah based on my experience Most boxers are have been very like respectful and pleasant to me as an mma fighter Yeah, but also based on my experience if you're an mma fighter and you get in a boxing match with a boxer, um, it's their opportunity Yeah, or something. Yeah, I guess I feel like the majority of them are boxers are kind of like that Yeah, I guess it's that but i've also but also the guys that i've sparred with who are high level But also know they're high level. Yeah won't beat your ass It's the ones coming up that have something to prove something to prove, bro That's though. That's exactly coach malcolm back in top team. He beat me up all day and it won't even hurt Yeah, he just knows how to pop me with control and that's how it should be right Right, I agree bro, definitely. Oh, by the way, we didn't mention the name of our podcast What is it We're gonna call this because you're army veteran. Yeah, i'm an army veteran. All right sudden impact podcast This is a war zone, baby war zone. This is a war zone. All right No, no, no the war room the war room podcast the war room. We're gonna discuss battle tactics in here Hey, you know what, uh, look up how many people have that podcast name the war room. Yeah Who cares? All right Not better than us, all right Not better than us. Yeah war room where we discuss battle tactics Or we can talk, uh, you know, we can talk anything. You can talk politics we can talk We can talk. Uh, you know, we talk analytical chemistry for all I care We're just chopping up there's no scripts, yeah, it's natural organic. Yeah. How was your day? man, my day was kind of wild bro, I mean, but It wasn't that wild, you know, I just I went up to uh, silverbird studios. I was meeting with some people About some of these programs because we're doing some mental health programs And we're using like different modes of therapy to help people start to heal, you know People that are going through different points of trauma But it kind of helped me realize some things about my own experience, you know Because i've been tripping about certain things i've been enduring or dealing with you know my life You do a lot man. You do a lot of things Yeah, bro. There's a lot of good things Yeah, that's what I mean because those are because the thing is it's not like, you know When you wake up in the morning like you what's your purpose in life? What do you do? You know because god made us all for something. Do you wake up feeling? purposeful Yes, I wake up feeling like I got a reason to be up Yeah, I haven't felt that way Before I worked here bro, because you're changing people's lives every day. I don't know about that. But thank you Come on, bro. I don't know about that. But thank you. Yeah, I am. I'm I am very passionate about my job here I care about these guys a lot coach. You're a coach bro head coach. So let's get it right. Yeah But what i'm saying is But but but but what does a coach do you coach people? You push them Push them past their limits, but you show them who they who they are instead of who they thought they were They're like I can't yes, you can I shut up and get over here and do the push-ups. Like I said, right? It's bro. Somebody has to be that guy bro. You know what I mean? And i'm i've i've actually got it figured out too. Yeah Like uh, everything's coming together. So wonderfully What everything Like like what started from nothing? Well, not nothing. Obviously david owns this building. Let me yeah, let me not jerk myself off here I mean a great facility. I think this is the nicest facility in the state so big Yeah, a lot of room right? The ring is great. The cage is great mats, uh, you know a lot of mat space Yeah, it's it's really cool facility. Yeah, there's no other like fight facilities like said impact in the state of indiana Wow because i've been to a lot of them I didn't know that I went to a lot of them We got the coolest gym. Okay, like visually to be honest with you the layout sudden impacts the best the layout And i'm not being biased blood impact Excuse me sudden impact Has the best layout? But you know what else there's so many different things that are offered here And is it promo time? Well, no, i'm just being i'm just being i'm talking about my own. No, but for real you're right You know, we got a barber shop in here. Yeah, we got a barber shop in here. We literally there's literally a barber I came here and I was like, okay They're doing taekwondo So you have a you have a tradition it's based in striking. Yeah kids based striking, but there's a traditional art And it's right what I like about that is the traditional. There's a traditional art learn Yeah, you learn from that like the discipline that comes with that. Absolutely Plus there's so many nuances and I know you don't like those kind of arts. I know you don't like taekwondo No, no, no, but I like I love you. It's good for a young boy Absolutely, and to come in and kind of be in a safe space for combat to understand his body self-awareness self-defense. Yeah Yeah, that's one thing though. We can't use the word safe space. Oh Cringes me out man. You think so? Oh, yeah, definitely Tell me about that. Why no, I i'm i'm being facetious. Uh, because a lot of uh, A lot of like college kids say In the early like or late 2010s, yeah, like 2017 15. I need a safe space. I mean like a physically It's physically. I know what you're saying No, you know what? I mean like they can their mom doesn't have to trip out like are you are you getting like their bones are getting broken or? We're doing mma Uh, yeah, because Let me think I haven't seen that here. What like Inspiring i've seen like grown men getting beat up and abused by the competitors and sparring. Yeah, like walk in your first day Fresh off the street I'm gonna feed you to my guys so they get fresh meat. Yeah. Yeah, that doesn't happen No, it doesn't happen here. I think that's a very poor way to run a facility, bro Like yeah, that's like I would be so if that happened during what like one of my other coaches classes and I saw that Uh, yeah, hey bro, that wouldn't that wouldn't happen here the other but we understand like Number one like well that membership that uh, you just that that person just beat up and kissed their membership Goodbye, because they're never coming back your job. What did he learn? Exactly, and I was having a I was having this conversation with a coach at the other gym He was a boxing coach And he was just like, you know, yeah, they come in here. I just you throw him in there and see what he's got You know, maybe you do something i'm like bro. That's a great way to have nobody here It sounds like me. You got a bad coach. No experience. Like I said, i've been doing this for so long now I got it figured out. I I mean actually I kind of said, uh, Segway golf of that didn't I digress a little bit. Yes, because You know like when I first got here, I had to figure out like I was a wrestling coach before You know i've been training for a while And I started like I don't know maybe 10 15 years ago but um Yeah, figuring out how to coach And like build like practices And like I have such a good like, uh mental Time clock like of how how much time do we have? Okay, we got an hour hour and a half. Okay Uh, what should we cover now that now I have it down to a science where it's like We have a playbook we have a syllabus And I go to all their fights And I watch these guys in practice of watching their fights and I I can make series of practices that are like four to six weeks That flow in together And we rehearse these scenarios or these drills or these tactics. Um And now I started figuring out another thing I learned from that fight in vermont is We do too much skill training and not enough Scenario based live rehearsal training, which is why we've been so focused on doing a lot more of those now. It's been great Yeah, you've been loving it And I I heard you say this about a year ago like we just need to get the right moves and just drill them Drillers make killers exactly. Yeah bro, you know why bro because I downloaded this library or torrents of moves bro. Like I went on the mma torrents It was probably like two thousand uh 13 or something like that and I downloaded like I don't even know probably a hundred gigs of just torrents of moves And I can't absorb it though, right? You can't I watched it like a tv show I would watch them over and over but I couldn't I know you're saying I know you're saying I couldn't keep them you see what i'm saying, I would watch them and I would learn them, but I couldn't drill them and I was like I need to drill Oh, here's another thing though I'm, also very very lucky. Yeah, because like the things that they have out there on that syllabus None of it's my idea It's not anything original. Yeah, well, there might be a few things on there. They're original but I have the back to write off of like, uh, American top team's patreon page. Yeah, my coach dustin bam. Bam. Yeah, and uh, like I do my homework I have to study what he teaches but his the four to six week series I actually got that from him. Okay, that's not that's not my strategy. I just that's how he coaches it Yeah, and it makes complete sense gotcha, and uh They they they run these series and like after like seven series You know, let's say they're each, you know Five weeks long so like 30 weeks and it's like we'll start back over And just kind of so every six months it's back to the top Or back to the bottom or way back up to the top. Yeah And then I have john fitch to help me too, which he's been a lot of help He actually just reviewed some of my training footage. He's helped me with okay, he reviews my fight footage and my next fight shooting My next fight he wants to uh have a fight plan for me because the problem also in vermont is uh my game plan probably wasn't designed for a uh a wrestler in a a uh Seasoned jiu-jitsu guy that he was yeah, he's very saucy on the mats. He's a really good grappler And the tactics that we're doing john was thinking that's not ideally way to approach a wrestler slash jiu-jitsu guy so he wants to Help break down my next fight Or uh strategize for my next fight, man. What I like to do, bro Is so and that's why I talk about that defense because like that four because I like to fortify so Though you read the art of war, right? The art of war sunzoo the author sunzoo Art of war. Oh, no, is that what my cousin talks about? That's your next book bro. It's not even that long It's just tactics You can listen to it on youtube I I read like, uh, like non-fiction narratives usually That's non-fiction The art of war the art of war is very non-fiction. I'm very good at the art of war It's all strategy bro. It is it's brilliant You gotta read it bro. It'll because you'll understand because you're a fighter So you're like yeah, i've been there before. Oh, that makes sense. This makes sense. It's like revelatory you like it's a revelation But one thing he talks about is fortification he's like fortify Make your enemy overextend Make him overextend himself take advantage capitalize Like the things he talks about defense he talks about uniting your force your force is being divided Your enemy's force is being divided and when it's time to strike all of that stuff pertains to what exactly what we do Everything that we do here in the gym everything that we do in fighting it all pertains to that Yeah, everything that you do pertains to fighting to be honest It's all life's a fight and that's why I bring like when I coach I coach people like I do. Um I do like uh that I do like social and emotional coaching even with those kids after school I I coached them but I used mixed martial arts to coach them Like I use the body because the body's like a little mini experience Like all kind of stuff can happen in your life But when I come in here in this place, it's like a container where we can contain all these Like little mini experiences that then translates to things that are going to happen in your life So I use these little subtle things that are happening here and I explain it in a way But it's a principle based explanation. How old are these kids? So those kids would be like 13 That's right at that age where it's like am I going to grow up to be a wonderful Person or am I going to grow up to be a criminal? I felt like 13 to like 16. Yeah, I feel like after the age of 17, it's almost too late. Yeah, like you have to kind of yeah because Start getting tattoos on their face. It's like yeah. Yeah, you got to go down there Once you narrow down the wrong path for too long. Yeah, I think I don't remember who said maybe it was jordan peterson. It's like, uh, Uh, no matter how long you travel down the wrong road. Eventually you got to turn around And the longer you go down the road longer takes to come back Oh, that's so deep that's like when you start smoking I take that long to quit like I love chewing tobacco. Yeah I love chewing tobacco so much Yeah and my coach actually told me one of them was like Because it was I was in a fight camp and i'm chewing i'm like jay jay coach jay I'm, sorry. I I just I really need to chew something like I really need some nicotine and he said to me You know gloids not as bad for you as you may think you'll be fine I jay jay's smart. I trust it But jay jay says it's eight. No, i'm not advocating. Yeah, i'm not advocating for chewing tobacco Okay, i'm all chewing tobacco. I don't recommend it isn't addictive. It will give you cancer. It will give you gum disease Yeah, it's a good cancel Don't chew tobacco. All right But also if you do chew tobacco It's amazing Oh, man I hate chewing tobacco you chewed before. No, I hate I hate it. I hate chewing tobacco. Have you ever chewed it before? No, I just hate it. I hate it. I hate when anyone chews it because it's The stick cup. It's disgusting. It's disgusting to me. I'm like don't sit that there, bro My boy used to chew and he spit in his bottle and then he'd be sitting there and then he put some cigarette butts in it I'm like, this is disgusting, bro. Yeah, it is disgusting. No, it's uh Is it it's disgusting when a guy does it But I remember uh seeing a a girl soldier doing it. That was I was like, whoa Chicks chew tobacco. No, not all of them Not most of them I met I remember this girl in high school, bro She had a crush on me bro, and she was chewing tobacco. I'm like, are you serious? You think that's attractive? Well, you know, it's not about it's not about doing what's attractive. It's about Do what makes you feel good what makes you happy Life is about selfless experience do what makes you happy despite what it does to other people. I'm joking by the way She's like this All right, let's go Yeah, right, bro, well, she's bad though. I'm cool. I don't care. Well, she's fine, bro I'll be like, uh, call my boy. Glory I wouldn't wait. I know that's like, uh double standard. Absolutely Yeah, man, I wouldn't know I probably wouldn't care he's for it call my boy glory he's for it Well, i've i've dated girls that smoke Cigarettes before I mean that's worse in my opinion. Okay, because It's you can still taste it when you kiss them. I feel you. I think that that's I think that that's That's not attractive to me. It's unattractive a girl smoking even though that's counter because that's hypocritical because I like smoking I like smoking cigars But I still don't like if a girl smokes. I think it's unattractive. I just and it's just sorry I don't like when a girl smokes or drinks. Yeah Yeah, i don't like drinkers either Yeah, I don't like drinkers. I don't like smoking alcohol is more accepted Or why are they accepted than smoking? Yeah, but it's way worse. It is because it just totally alters your mind Like if you if you if you if you're ever in relationship with someone who has like alcohol dependency Like that's very very difficult. I think it's just like get out of that relationship because you love them Listen bro, but you ever been to pennsylvania? Yeah, well, I drove through it. Have you ever stopped there and get something some liquor? No, when you stop there and get liquor the stores are called wines and spirits. Oh, yeah. Yeah. What does that mean? What do you think it means? You mean you drink some wine and you get some spirits? Bro, like that native american thing. Um, I just think that it opens the door I think that when you start drinking It opens the door that's a door to demons. Yeah for for things to come and influence your mind I try having a conversation with like try having a reasonable conversation with someone Who's like drunk? Yeah, right intoxicated. It's not Like because they're really just not present in their body. No, they're not rational. Yeah, can't can't you can't talk to them? No No, it's horrible. It's always your fault It's horrible, bro, they're aggressive. Yes But this is like the same thing. It's like because that's what I say when someone gets drunk with emotion Like if you get super upset you act the same way You get real mad or emotional about something. You're unreasonable when I get uh When I get drunk though, not always but like I have there's if I go out drinking especially in a public place Number one, I find it to be very uncomfortable. I don't like bars. I don't like clubs I'm always kind of on edge. Yeah, so when I get drinking I get drunk i'm either i'm either fighting or crying Neither one of those things are good Yeah Yo, yeah, I got some demons bro. Don't don't let them out. Don't let them out keep that bottle closed. Yeah No, I have like a beer a year or two, but see man, it's good that you know yourself Yeah, because some people bro, they get drunk and lose control and still drink And i'm like, how can you do that to all the people around you? Well, that's the disease right like alcoholism. Yeah like um Like i'm not going to say who but someone I care, uh, you know very much for Uh as alcoholic and I was not very uh Wasn't very nice When I was trying to make them quit And the reason I say trying to make them quit because I wasn't trying to help them I'd be like what are you doing? You stupid idiot. Let me you're you're pathetic. You're drunk dumping their liquor down the The sink what is wrong with you? Yeah, did you know that alcohol? like it's like benzodiazepines and and other like what Alcohol alcohol withdrawal is one of the few drugs that you withdraw from that where you could actually die from withdrawal I didn't know that when I was doing that It actually make you sick. I should kill you I didn't know that. Yeah that being said I wish I would have been a little bit more considerate. Yeah And understanding here that time even though there's no excuse for the way that that person was treating me when they were drunk but um I could I could have done a little better. I could have been a little bit more. Um Could have been a little nicer about it. You live and you learn coach You know, that's called maturity, you know as we get older like as we get older we calm down You know, our lion starts calming down our fire goes a little lower and more under control. It's supposed to be like that though Yeah, it's still there. Yeah, but instead of leaving it over here on high. I didn't learn how to just gotta Just gotta turn it down use it when you need it, you know Control it like you know, that's the same thing with what jordan go back to jordan peterson He's like you gotta become a monster, but you need to control it You can't uh be you know going around just knocking everything over because you can And just destroying everything because you can't yeah, you gotta control yourself But but have the capability because other than that you're weak And being weak isn't good because you just don't have the capacity to be strong Which means you aren't controlling anything. You don't have a thing to control You can't do anything about anything because you're weak So, but if you can do something if you just do what you're told because uh, you have no other option That's weakness. Yeah, but if you're able to just humble yourself That's how I've been humble control. I've been i've been very humbled by life. Yeah Well, i'm talking about humbling yourself though that too because if you humble yourself, you don't gotta get humbled by life Right. Well, yeah, exactly pride coming. It's in the bible pride cometh before the fall So once you get proud Well, the fall must be next Fall must be on its way when I start getting too proud. I get afraid. What about the people you see who don't fall? Does that piss you off? It doesn't piss me off. I'm not a bitter person. Well, when you say who don't fall. What do you mean? Oh you there's certainly people out there that take shortcuts and like, uh deceive people and still get ahead Everyone has the debt to pay and you know, you've never walked every day in no man's shoes The guy you see in that, uh, you know that $100,000 sports car That you think oh, what a asshole. You never know. He might he might be ready to jump off a building. Most of them are I don't know about that. I wish I had a sports car. I can just tell you bro Like I met I know I look I got a lot of friends because I was in uh, I was in roofing sales A lot of my boys like that's good work. That's good. Honest work. That'd make a man out of you bro I love roofing. I was in roofing sales though. I sold roofs. No, it's different. Yeah, I got the crews to do the roof Hey, you probably made more money than them. Of course, which isn't fair. What i'm saying is yeah, it is fair because I created I created an opportunity for them to make money. Yeah, I went to the door. I'm like, hey, how you doing? Yeah, your roof's messed up. Um, yeah, that's gonna be 25 000. I got the crew. Hey, yeah I'm the one that made the money come in. I'm the one that gotta go get the check to pay them It's not easy asking someone hey, can we fix your roof for eight thousand dollars? Well, let me tell you the secret to it insurance restoration Oh, you tell them that their insurance can pay for it Well, you know you find out if their insurance can pay for it first by inspecting it And if they if they can because you've done so many itties you understand what the adjusters pay for you've been on a roof of 15 You know adjusters this week, you know exactly what they're looking for. There's been a storm in the area So you you're basically guiding them through a process that they're not aware about But let's not make it a roofing commercial What I was really talking about was the fact that a lot of my boys once they learned this trade because it's really a trade About understanding insurance and understanding insurance laws because insurance companies don't want to pay you But if there's someone there that knows why they have to they're accountable They can't just not do it. They have to if you don't know why they have to they can get around it They can be like now you're okay homeowner. You don't know any better, right? But if i'm there i'm like no actually I can't fix this this shingle is not repairable it's discontinued which means that this Homeowner, I will say something like I'll use some terminology like this homeowner isn't going to be indemnified Which is what it states in their policy? So basically it's contractual stuff, you know, you have to do it because of this and then like you're right, you know But when I seen guys that come in Um, you can make three hundred thousand dollars bro by selling roost you can just be a salesman And make a lot of money So you see these people and you watch them go from nothing to this and have all this money And be in these different situations and have more power than they're used to And because when you have power and you're not don't know how to manage power, bro, you destroy things Yeah, you come like a couple foolish yes i'm naive yo you but people will everybody around you becomes a yes not everyone but like um You you can you can think that uh, you're untouchable so to speak. Yeah Well, that's what because no one ever tells you anything anymore because they all Because you have money everybody becomes a yes, man So people don't ever tell you when you're wrong. I would never be a yes, man. That's super beta Yeah, it is super paid it is but that's what people do I've never been like that. That's why like a lot of those guys became my close friends because i'm a i'm confrontational Which means I hate conflict. Yeah, i'm not afraid to address it. No, i'll i'm assertive So i'll just confront you about it. I'll be like, yeah, that was real weak or Why would you do something like that, bro? Yeah, you know i'm saying like i'll confront naturally or or uh, necessarily assertive have to I can't let it go But I can't let it go for you Like I can't let you go. I can't let you go on like that like Either we ain't gonna be cool no more or whatever But no, i'm not gonna let you think that i'm cool with that. I'm not yeah, you know what I mean, right? But um I became friends with a lot of those dudes. We became really great friends But it's because i'm authentic with them, but they shared a lot with me You know just share things about their personal experience their life what they've been going through It's not rainbow the higher you go the lonelier it is The less people you have to talk to the smaller the group of people you feel like you can trust you almost don't feel Like you can trust anybody even the business associates that you have It's all it starts to become very transactional And and it's not it's not like authentic your relationships become very paper thin very synthetic And it's a synthetic lifestyle and everybody around you. They're all like that Bro, it's not as great as you think and it's like when I was looking i'd look at some of my friend groups, you know, and I'd be like man, you know, we were making a lot of money and but do I really like this environment? That's so important. Is this is this environment like authentic to me? Is this real and a lot of times it wasn't And it was like I'd rather hang out with real regular People making regular incomes. Let's see if your mic is it's not too far away. Yeah I'd rather be hanging out with real regular people. Is it going? Yeah making regular incomes, but that are real and authentic or Not bad people Yeah, like not a piece of shit just yeah, just don't have underlying agendas, bro Like when you start the higher you go the more agendas you have to confront because everybody starts having an agenda You know, it's not like a authentic relationship So it's just by how can I use you instead of Who are you? You know, yeah, you know and I started noticing that when I was in lived in pittsburgh when I was uh My boy morris morrison would take me out and everybody started asking me. So what do you do? So, what do you do? So, what do you do? What do you do? And i'm like, what do I do? You mean who am I know who am I first? Why who cares what I do? Right? You know, I mean I remember feeling like very like ashamed for what I did for a while Really like yeah when I was like still in college Like I was uh, I was like 24 And so I hadn't graduated college yet. Yeah, which isn't unusual at the time. It's like dang i'm i'm 24 and still in college It's actually not that uncommon. Yeah, it usually takes like six to seven years to get a four-year degree, especially if you're stem Yeah, like I was And uh, I just hated telling people Yeah, I uh, I worked at best buy Were you in the geek squad dog I tried but they didn't accept me I tried like three times. Oh, I tried like three times. No way just kept turning me down because you're not a geek I am a geek. You don't look the part bro. They were like nah, bro. Yeah I think I I actually get that a lot no matter where I go. What? like I'm, not very well liked At first I don't give a very good first impression I think or something. I don't know I'm, not very well liked uh You know why bro because you're real You don't hold back. You're authentic. Well, i'm not i'm not rude. I'm, very polite No, you don't think it's rude but the way I think it's my posture it's your Uh, yeah your posture probably your demeanor and you're in your confidence. I'm, very very handsome I'm Joking it's your demeanor and the confidence but it's also you're confident enough to be Authentic Like if you think it You'll say it Won't hold it back and i've gotten better at Because that's true, especially like being in the military, but I have gotten better at like wording it more Yeah, appropriately instead of bluntly. Yeah, which is important. Yeah There's no excuse to be an asshole all the time, there's an art to it just some of the time. Yeah Reason to write a book the art to be an asshole art to not be an asshole But also get your point across right that's a skill that you should practice. Yeah, i'm like cool with not being liked at first I because I don't even like I don't want everybody coming up to me I'm cool with it. I'd rather people uh feel like they earned my respect or earned You know the place where they are so they value it Because I just don't want to I don't want to give that away to everybody You know what? I mean? Like I want people to feel like that I don't want people to feel like they have to walk on eggshells asking a question I don't want that. I don't want either but I don't want people to just automatically feel like we're we're like best friends And like because it's not it's not true. Oh, I did. I mean I still uh I I still like I make sure that like if someone's Like it gets a little loose with the disrespect. Yeah that I make them aware like They're a you're crossing the line here. Don't yeah, we're not tight like that. We're not on that We're not on that frequency yet for you to be talking to me in that sort of manner like Like my demeanor here is very different Because you guys are all cool Like when I first met you plus like you're like an anchor for me When I met you I was like I was like this dude's cool. Oh, thank you. I'm like, I think you're cool, too Yeah, so it's like you made it very easy for me to come in here and just kind of be myself Good and I and that's why it's like a sanctuary for me. I love coming here because it's like yeah I like being here too, man And i'm like everything out there is out there and i'm in the gym, you know, and I I love that bro I love you do carry a light with you when you walk in the room. It's like alan always like There's like a there's a frequency shift in the air It's like oh the energy's changing a little bit because I don't just walk in there Like how much brighter he makes the room? Thanks, bro But you know what that's like because i'm allowed to be myself Like i'm not allowed to be myself everywhere. You know, I wasn't allowed to be myself at five hours. Tony before we recorded Yeah, that's one of the reasons i'm glad I i'm not like working in a laboratory anymore. Yes and you made it very comfortable for me to come in here and just kind of like Just do do do what I do, you know, and I was like, thanks, but I appreciated that You know what? I mean because i've been to a lot man You don't even know how long how many gyms i've been to And it's just like walking on eggshells trying not to to be offensive because so first of all my i'm older So i'm older and experienced and a lot of times when you go into a gym and there's an instructor there They want to feel valuable so then they want to feel like they can teach you something So if you're not there in the capacity of a coach if you're there at the capacity of a student, but you're very already, you know skilled it's almost like You know, I mean like they don't really You know, there's no value for you disposable. Yeah, you're disposable because you it's like you're not my student I didn't teach that, you know, so it's like You're and it was like very awkward for me for years, bro to just go into any place, you know and I just try to because there's a you know, and um But then one of the 48 laws of power is never our shine the master You know what? I mean? And I just felt like yeah, I do a very good job like Because like you got to have like a pecking order. Yeah, right. Yeah So make sure your subordinates talk to you with some level of respect. Yeah and make sure you talk to you You know, uh, you're you're a leader in some level of respect Yeah, and uh, i'm always making sure that when i'm talking to david that i make sure that I know my place Yes, because that's important too it's not it's that's not a cowardly thing. No, it's actually a respect thing Yeah, you know and the thing is that you're dealing with because you're alpha male and sometimes like I I thank you Yeah, but sometimes I deliberately like I know what i'm doing and maybe he does too But I want to make sure that I offer him the opportunity to make a decision for me. That makes sense. Yes, like i'll say david I think we should do this What would or what do you how do you think we should handle this situation? Because you're the boss and you are in charge at the end of the day. I work for you. Yeah, I defer to you Bro, that's just respect. So not only do I Provide an option. Yeah, I also want to let him know that his option outranks mine Yes, and whichever decision he makes is his decision, but david's very alpha too So you guys are you but you understand how to chill? See that the thing is is that like and I think that that's more because most alpha males aren't that intelligent and I think that's the difference between you and a lot of other dudes that may be alpha male because they When when you have two alphas usually there's a combative situation Like there's a fight. Yeah Yeah, but you know how to switch And chill because you understand You know persona, you understand people depends on the day, but most of the time Some days I have a short fuse but most of the time Yeah. Uh, yeah, I don't let people get under my skin too often I mean also especially we work together I don't have the ego to like win of like this dick measuring contest. Yeah Um, yeah, I wanted to be able to get along and work together enthusiastically Hopefully if we're lucky that's more like a sigma male you ever heard of that I don't know. It sounds disrespectful. Nah, look it up. It kind of sounds like a cis male. No, it's interesting No, it's this male means no You wouldn't believe me or you wouldn't believe me if I told you Look up a video about sigma males. See if those because it talks about all these different traits that you'll have Just look it up. See if it's it's sigma s i g Sim a sigma. Yeah, okay sigma but it talks about because what it says is about a sigma male is you have traits of an alpha male, but you can embody almost any type of Any persona like that you want but when and you also know how I think I do a good job reading a room Not that it makes me like two-faced or fake. Yeah, but uh, I can match energy levels and also uh engage with people, um and like uh I want uh, not necessarily. I want them to like me or need them to like me Yeah, but I would uh look forward to us getting along. Yeah. Yeah, sort of so to speak. Yeah It's uh, it's not often like usually a lot of times bro, i'm really kind of surprised sometimes when people like don't like me I like but i've had it happen. Oh, yeah There's definitely people that Look, let me tell you i'm not very well liked on first experiences. I'm telling you most people at first like i'll give an example. Yeah Actually used to be in sales too. I wasn't very good at it, but I was yeah worked at harley davidson In the fort wayne And we sold 100 bikes in one month, which apparently it sounds like a lot I guess it is a lot So that's like the most that you've ever done ever. It was like 100 bikes in one month. Yeah And uh, so the owner took us all to ruth chris the steakhouse It's a very prestigious steakhouse, it was very good And we're you know, we're having like a beer or something. Maybe I was probably wasn't but maybe I did But uh, the guy says to me one of my co-workers he's like he's a little drunk he's a little intoxicated he says to me Gloy now, I just want to tell you man when I first met you I freaking hated you But after getting to know you you're a pretty good guy I was like, uh Thanks, man. I mean, I I didn't feel that way all about you, but okay. Thanks What Yeah, i'm not very happy that has something about me that people don't like on first impressions, yeah Let's uh, let's make sure that everything is still good and how long we've been going. We're 57 minutes in. Okay, cool So we can probably we can keep this train going or we can wrap this. Yeah, we can wrap it up Yeah, we're going all right, let's uh, let's try to organically segue to Where is my cue to misty if we could Okay Can we pause Yeah, well, uh, yeah, or you don't want to do that. You can just stop it in. Um, okay Stop and then just start it again or just be in another clip because this thing records the segments anyway Yeah, can we pause this and then save as?
