Agamemnon (Morshead Translation)

AeschylusAeschylus

The "Agamemnon" is the first play in a trilogy called the "Oresteia" by Aeschylus. It tells the story of the curse on the House of Atreus and how Orestes seeks revenge for his father's murder. This trilogy is the only surviving example of an ancient Greek theater trilogy and won first prize at the Dionysia festival in 458 BC. Unfortunately, the satyr play that would have followed the trilogy, called "Proteus," did not survive.
