We have notes, but that doesn't have the final say, your word has the final say. I thank you, Father God, that the program is in your presence, that we plan, but we submit our plans to you. We thank you, Father, for working now, by the power of your spirit, in Jesus' name, amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. So we're going to read our foundational scripture, our text in 2 Corinthians 10, verses 3, 4, and 5. I'd like to include 6. I think 6 is a little hard to understand, even though it's there and we read it and we act like we understand it. I think a lot of times we understand, let me say it like this, I think a lot of times our understanding is partial. Our understanding, a lot of times, is based on our filters. Our filters are those things that we place in front of us to keep things from getting to us or to keep things from getting through to others. Just like the filter on the air conditioner, you want to keep the dust and the mites and all the bad things from going into the air conditioner, so there's a filter there. We have water filters that we use to keep contaminants out. So filters are for protection, but that's not all they do, because it protects things from coming in and also stops things from going out. So a lot of times, why don't we read verse 6, since that's the one I'm talking about about the filter, why don't we read that one first, 2 Corinthians chapter 10, and we're going to ask Paul to read that for us. Being ready to punish every disobedience when your obedience is complete. So of course we're going to filter that because nobody, for the most part, wants to say, we've got this. The new King James said, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. The King James says, brother, and having a readiness to avenge all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. So we've got problems right here. That's telling me I'm not going to avenge any disobedience until my obedience is fulfilled, so I'm going to back off of some things that need to be done and some things that need to be said. Or I'm thinking highly of myself and think I've already done that, so I get the right to avenge all disobedience right off the bat. This is a tricky scripture. This is one that takes some humility slash maturity because it would be really easy here to hurt some people. Now we're talking about spiritual warfare, weapons of our warfare, and we're going to get to our first weapon that we're going to talk about here in a few minutes. So I'm going to read chapter 10, 2 Corinthians chapter 10, 3, 4, and 5, for though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. Go ahead, read that in that, brother. Though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God and take every thought captive to obey Christ. See, the King James and the New King James says casting down imaginations and arguments. I love the English Standard Version because it's putting it clear. We're not just throwing it down. We're destroying it. This thing has to be destroyed. And then verse 6 says, once you have become obedient, then you avenge all disobedience. See, that's not talking about in someone else, guys. That's where we get mixed up. See, we use this, we get these things called the gifts of the spirit wrapped up in warfare and in everyday life. And there's one gift called discernment of spirits. And we take that thing and we beat the brakes off of people with it. We do warfare with discerning the spirits and we do it in a wrong way. This scripture in verse 6 is, and be ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. The disobedience is that that's coming inside of you. Once you come to the place where you see it, and my obedience is to Christ. I have accepted him. I have submitted myself to him. I give him authority over my life. Holy Spirit come in, rule and reign. Once that obedience is fulfilled, then I, from that area, from that arena, have the God-given right to punish any disobedience trying to change me from the will of God. I don't have the right to determine what somebody else's obedience or disobedience is. That's between them and God. So we have to keep the context. The context is personal. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God, through the pulling down of the stronghold, casting down arguments or imaginations. I can't cast down an imagination or an argument in you, Mom. Only you can. I'm responsible for the one, that's right, the pulling the beam out of my eye before I try to see the mote in my brother's, the speck in my brother's eye. It's too easy for us to do that. Yet as Christians, we do it all the time. Now this next weapon that we're, or this first weapon that we're supposed to talk about is dangerous in that aspect. And it is, if we look at the word weapons, the first letter in the word weapons, in our acronym is word. W stands for word in our acronym. It could, in your acronym, it could be worship. It could be anything you want it to be because worship is a weapon of war. But in this one, the very first weapon that we deal with, the very first weapon that we choose, the very first weapon that Jesus used was the word. Yes. The word, I love Brother Worley, A.S. Worley, anybody listening, look him up. A.S. Worley, Alvin Simpson Worley, an apostle to the nations. He said, the word works when you work the word. Amen. The word works when you work the word. The word is not going to do for you what you will not do or allow. That's why he told me to quote the scriptures. That's right. That's right. The word is the living and I'm getting ahead of myself, but that's all right. We'll get there. So let's look at, let's look at our text. Last week, I kind of jumped on Paul and beat him up a little bit about, we have a weapon. I didn't beat him up on purpose. I didn't beat him up on purpose. It's just, look, I've been a youth pastor, I've been a senior pastor, and I treat everybody, I beat everybody equally. I'm no equal, I'm an equal opportunity beater. I don't, I don't, I don't treat anybody differently. No, seriously, I do not try to purposely hurt people. But I am, I am serious about the word. And the generation that we live in, it's electronic and that's fine if we use it. But if my weapon is on my computer or on my tablet or on my phone, it doesn't just need to be one of the apps on my phone, it needs to be the main app on my phone. It doesn't need to be, it doesn't need to be one of the apps amongst all of the other many things that are there throughout the day. It needs to be your protection. The word of God is the sword of the spirit. And I'm getting ahead of myself as far as armor is concerned, and we'll get there later. But we said, I've got a weapon, well, don't mess with me, I've got a weapon. And the question is, where is it? Is it in the house? Is it on a shelf? Hanging on the wall? I have been, I have been in people's houses, I've been in, I've been in different nations and I've been in our nation and I've seen it, where they had show weapons hanging on the wall, pistols, rifles, shotguns. I've been in people's houses where they had swords hanging on the wall. Those weapons are no good. Those weapons are pretty, but they're no good. I have a friend named John, I won't mention his last name. He was a ranger, well, he was not a ranger. If you were ever a ranger, you're still a ranger. It's like a Marine. If you're ever a Marine, you're still a Marine. You don't, you don't get to retire from that. That's what you are. That's what they put in you. You are what they built. He was in the, in the color guard at the, at the White House. I'm talking about beautiful, a beautiful military unit of the rangers and the rangers and the color guard are rangers. Rangers are special forces. So he said, he's standing out there in the group. Every one of them just decked out in their, in their uniform. I mean, they look good. They, they're there for the president and his wife. They're there for the White House. They're all standing out there, Mrs. Bush walks by, President Bush's wife, the first President Bush. Bush Senior. Says, they're pretty, but can they fight? Well, that's a question that needs answered. And they assure her, ma'am, these were the best of the best, that weapon. And that's what that was. The color guard was a weapon for the president and his wife at any time. They didn't just have bodyguards. They had these people that were there to protect them. At any time, they could say, OK, guys, we need you. Were they a weapon hanging on a wall, a weapon sitting on a shelf, a weapon? Or what about a prophecy that we have received years ago? Now, we're still waiting to come to pass, yet we've messed it up so many times that it's never going to come to pass now. Because I did not work with the word. Or because you did not work with the word. But that prophecy is still there. Well, that prophecy is not going to happen now. So and so we cannot rely on an old prophecy. Prophecies two wives ago or two husbands ago. Y'all are going to go all over the world. No, you're not. You know, you're not. You'd have been married against this and you and that woman are not going all over the world together. I'm just sorry. It's not going to happen. And so and so we have these words that have been spoken over us and favorite words that we pull from the word of God, we'll call them pet words, our pet words. They they're there. And we pull them out and we should and we should and we should use the word of God as a weapon, as as warfare. But we need to understand that the warfare, the weapons of our warfare are not the weapons of our warfare are not natural or carnal. They're not for natural or carnal people. They're not for against natural or carnal people. The weapons of our warfare are mighty through God to the pulling down or destroying of strongholds that the evil one has set up or is trying to set up. It's not against people. We don't war against people. We don't war against flesh and blood. And I'm getting ahead of myself. We don't war against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers. It's always against principalities and powers, never against people. The enemy cheats. He's a cheater. I'm sorry, that's just what he does. He cheats. He uses people and you can't fight people. Now, you tell me how that's fair. Sounds kind of like those people, Hezbollah people. They're going to shield themselves in a hospital or in a school and you can't go back and attack because there's people there in the way. The enemy taught them that, by the way. He uses people. He puts people between you and he speaks into their ear and they unknowingly say something. Just they'll breathe one thing and the next thing you know, a word comes out. Well, that wasn't their word. That was the enemy's word. But you had to look at that person and say, that person is not my enemy. The person that said that behind them is. How about we say it like this, get behind me, Satan. Peter wasn't Satan, but Satan spoke through Peter and Peter spoke what Satan said. Jesus didn't address Peter. He addressed the evil one. Get behind me, Satan, for you speak the things of men and not of God. So we have to determine. We do have to have the gift of discernment to work with this, but we have to understand that this discerning of spirits, not discerning of people, it's what is controlling that person. And it's not so that you can speak to that person and say, you know, there's a devil talking to you, so that you can get in your quiet place and say, devil, leave that person alone. We're not there to beat the person up. We're there to love the person. Love your enemies. Pray for those who despitefully use you. Bless and curse, not. Amen. And so, and so the word is powerful, but the word is dangerous. Let's look in scripture. Let's read and I got ahead of myself, but that's all right. Joshua chapter one, verse one, and then five through nine, Joshua, and we're familiar with Joshua, we're familiar with him, we're familiar with what the Lord told him, and then five through nine, Joshua chapter one, verse one, and the Lord told him, and then five through nine. Now, after the death of Moses, the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spake unto Joshua, the son of Nun, Moses' minister saying, verse five, there shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of my life as I was with Moses, so will I be with thee, I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, verse six through nine, six through nine, be strong and of good courage, for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance, the land, which I swear unto their fathers to give them, only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to thee according to all the law, which Moses, my servant, commanded thee, turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest, this book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein, or then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success, have not I commanded thee, be strong and of good courage, be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed, for the Lord thy God is with thee, whither forsoeverest thou goest, verse 11, pass through the host and command the people saying, prepare your victuals, for within three days you shall pass over this Jordan to go in to possess the land, which the Lord your God gives you to possess it, verse 12, and to the Reubenites, and to the glad Hittites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua saying, remember the word of Moses, the servant of the Lord commanded you saying, the Lord, your God has given you rest and has given you this land. Okay. So we went a little further, but I'm going to go ahead and continue. So after the death of Moses, the Lord spoke to Joshua saying, no man shall be able to stand before you. Now, listen, what we have today is not what they had that day. By that, I mean, Moses had written a few books. Joshua had not been written. Joshua didn't know the outcome. Joshua didn't know that we don't battle against flesh and blood, but against principalities and God told Joshua, no man shall be able to stand before you. And we read that in our English translations and we literally think, okay, bless God, no man can stand before me. And that ain't what it's talking about. What we have today is we have Daniel. Daniel prayed. 21 days later, an answer came. The word of God, the angel came to him and said, the prince of Persia withstood me. No man shall stand before you. As I was, oh, glory to God. As I was with Moses, my servant, so will I be before you. No kingdom shall stand before you. No, no prince or power of the air shall stand before you. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God. Listen, God wasn't telling Joshua, these kings can't stand before you. He was telling Joshua, these spirits that control these kings can't stand before you. As I was with Moses, as I have moved everything, as I have replaced kings because they submitted themselves to the wrong thing. So I'll do with you. Only be strong and very courageous. Now, how many times did he tell Joshua that? How many times you reckon God told Joshua, be strong and very courageous? How many times you reckon? Over and over. At least three. I wonder why he would say that. Only be strong and very courageous. Does that mean that we're going to face something that can scare the wits out of us? Does that mean that we're going to face something that we can look at and say, God, if you don't help me, I'm done. I'm done in. I am out of my element. I have, this is, this is not Kansas anymore, Toto. We're out of our environment now. There are some things going on that we have not dealt with before. We've not dealt with this. We don't, be strong and very courageous. Understanding that you're going to see people, but don't be afraid of their faces because it's not them that you're fighting. I'm fighting. I'm doing this warfare for you and through you, but you've got to understand that there's things going on and I love, I love Elisha. Elisha's servant was saying, oh, master. And this was, this is when, this was when our king of Assyria, I believe it was, or Nineveh came and was going to come and wipe out Israel. And the mountains was full of chariots and Elisha's servant said, master, we're toast. Elisha said, dude, you can't see because, because there are more force than they are against us. And in his mind, he said, I'm sorry, dude, master. I can't see that. You're right. I can't see. So, so Elisha said, Lord, open his eyes. And then the mountains were filled with chariots of angels. So what we have to do is look beyond what we see. We have to see that the word of God is quick and powerful, but yes, we have to see that out of Messiah's mouth came a sharp two edged sword. Yes, but we have to see that it's not against mankind. It's not against people. It's against principalities. It's the things, it's against the things that influence people. It's against the influencers of the influencers. It's against those that can hurt you. That, sorry, it's against those that can hurt them that hurt you. It's not against, it's not against the people, but then, but then the Lord told Joshua, there's something very powerful here that you need, verse eight, this book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on there in day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to the law of the Lord, that thou mayest observe to do according to the law of the Lord, that thou mayest observe to do according to the law of the Lord, that thou mayest observe to do according to the law of the Lord, that thou mayest observe to do according to the law of the Lord, that thou mayest observe to do according to the law of the Lord, that thou mayest observe to do according to the law of the Lord, that thou mayest observe to do according to the law of the Lord, that thou
