In this storybook-based session, Eleanor from Zoolab introduces the animals from the story "Henry's Senses". The animals include a frog, snail, cockroach, snake, tarantula, and rat. Eleanor sets three rules: stay quiet, stay in your spot, and don't touch your face after touching an animal. She introduces each animal and provides facts about them. At the end, she reminds the audience to wash their hands. Hi guys, it's Ellen here and today we are going to be going over Henry's Senses. This is one of our storybook-based sessions. The animals that you will use in this session are your frog, snail, cockroach, snake, tarantula and rat. The props that you will need for this session is just your storybook. So, starting the session just like any other, arranging your audience into a semi-circle, with you sat at the front showing the audience your storybook. So, I would just start the session with, Hi guys, my name is Eleanor and I've come from Zoolab today. I've brought with me an amazing story with lots of animals in them and we're going to be meeting the animals in this story and some of the animals you will be able to hold. Just before we get started with the story, we do have three really important but really easy rules that we need to remember when we're meeting the animals. Rule number one is we need to stay nice and quiet so we don't frighten any of the animals. Rule number two is we're all going to stick to our spots so everybody can see the storybook and see all the animals. And rule number three is if you've touched an animal, make sure to keep your hands away from your faces because we're going to give them a really good wash at the end. Then I would simply introduce the book. So, my story today, guys, is called Henry's Senses. My story is about Henry, a boy with brown hair. He has a rat called Bean that he carries everywhere. Henry wears glasses and has freckles on his cheeks. His hobby is learning all about the animals he seeks. Henry likes to take out his magnifying glass and look for wildlife when he's not in class. He learns about the different animals around in the sky, on land and some underground. Henry takes a walk to the pond down the road. He peers right in to look for a frog, perhaps a toad. Right there on the bank, a happy green frog is sat. Its large eyes have flipped that remind Henry of a cat. Its skin is all smooth and its body is cold. The frog has cold blood, Henry's book says in bold. Then I would introduce your frog and do your general frog facts, carrying the frog around in its travel box. The forest is the next place that Henry goes to. Trees tower high with little light getting through. Toadstools grow around the base of a big tree. Spider silk glimmers as far as you can see. From under a log, a black spider does appear. This one is big and fills poor Henry with fear. He grabs his book and looks up his great find. It is a big spider with a rather large behind. Its body is hairy to feel its way across the ground. It can shoot off hairs if there is trouble around. Then I would just introduce your tarantula and do your general tarantula facts whilst taking the tarantula around in its box. The fields are a place where Henry loves to go in the spring, summer, autumn and even in the snow. He walks around the edges to not damage the crop through growing corn, yellow with green on top. A head pops out on the path alongside the corn. It's a fairly small head, around the size of an acorn. Its tongue flickers out this way and that to smell for its food, either a mouse or a rat. Its body has scales. It is long and very cold. This snake is a reptile, Henry says, so I am told. Then I would introduce your snake doing your general facts and your handling as well. Henry pops his book away into his small rucksack. He must head home for tea. The sky is getting black. They head through the forest and past the pond to where the animals and he formed a special bond. Tomorrow is another day to go out and explore. Henry enters his garden and opens the front door. A slimy snail slithers on the drain pipe by his shoe with a hard shell, a cold foot and a pair of feelers too. Henry doesn't need his book. This is a garden snail. He has seen these before and remembers his tales. Then introducing your snail, taking the snail out, doing your handling and just your general snail facts. Today is a sunny day and Henry skips out of bed. Time for an adventure, Beans, Henry said. All keen and ready to go, they set out up the hill. A tree has fallen, so Beans and Henry stop still. He takes a close look around the fallen tree. A cockroach is munching on the wood with glee with its feelers on top and its skeleton outside. Its body feels hard, Henry said with surprise. Then I will introduce your cockroach, doing your general facts and your cockroach handling. He sits out the blanket and sits down next to Beans. He pulls out the cake, fruit, sandwiches and greens. Beans gets excited and sniffs around with her nose. She dives on Henry's lap and jumps to his shoulder with her toes. Her fur is warm and her whiskers make Henry tickle. You have warm blood like me, he says as he shares his cheese and pickle. Then finally introducing your rat, doing your rat handling and your general animal facts. Then to finish off, just simply say, thank you guys, I hope you really enjoyed the story and meeting all of the amazing animals as well. But there is one last thing we need to do. That's right, we need to wash our hands. So then I will pass them back to their teacher to get them all to wash their hands and finish your session.
