The podcast discusses the controversy surrounding the recent Grammy Awards, particularly the Album of the Year category. The Grammy Awards are highly regarded in the music industry and are presented to recognize outstanding achievements. The winner of the Album of the Year award was Harry Styles, which caused controversy as many believed Beyonce should have won. The podcast host personally rooted for Kendrick or Harry Styles. Some tweets expressed disappointment in the winner. Despite the controversy, the host enjoyed the Grammy Awards and appreciated that different artists were recognized. Hi, my name is Zanara Jaguna, and I will be making a podcast for the Module 5 Make Assignment. For this week, I will be talking about the controversy regarding the Grammys, which recently aired. I'll be focusing mainly on the Album of the Year award, who won the award, and why people are mad about it. To start off, the Grammy Awards are presented by the Recording Academy of the United States to recognize outstanding achievements in the music industry. They are regarded by many as the most prestigious and significant awards in the music industry all around the world. The Grammy Award for Album of the Year is also presented by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences to honor artistic achievement, technically proficient, and overall excellence in the recording industry, without any regards to album sales, chart positions, or critical reception. Album of the Year is the most prestigious award category at the Grammys. For the 2020 Grammy Awards, the nominees for Album of the Year were ABBA for their album, Voyage, Adele for her album, 30, Bad Bunny for Un Verano, CP, Beyonce for Renaissance, Mary J. Blige for Good Morning, Gorgeous, Brandi Carlile for In These Silent Days, Coldplay for Music of the Spheres, Kendrick Lamar for Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers, Lizzo for Special, and Harry Styles for Harry's House. Long story short, the person who won this award was Harry Styles for his album, Harry's House. The winner of this award caused so much controversy because most people believe that Beyonce should have taken home the award. This year, she was named the person with the most Grammy Awards of all time. Obviously, everyone's going to have their opinion, everyone has their favorite album out of all the choices, but personally for me, who I was rooting for was either Kendrick or Harry Styles. I was rooting for both of them because out of all of the artists that I listen to, they are the ones that really resonate with me. I've been a fan of Kendrick since I was a kid and a fan of Harry's since I was a teenager, and they both are just my absolute favorite. I would have been happy if either of them won. Out of the two, I thought Kendrick was going to win, but I was happy to see that Harry did. People didn't want Harry to win because he's just now being recognized as a good artist. Obviously, I always thought he has been, but I'm pretty biased. I thought it would be fun to ask some of my friends who they wanted to win the award. I asked about three friends. I got one vote for Bad Bunny, one vote for Beyonce, and one vote for Kendrick. I also found some tweets that kind of explain how people were feeling that night. One person said, Beyonce should have taken that one easily. Another is, Kendrick dropped album of the year in my book. And another is, no one made me dance like Bad Bunny did. I decided to do this assignment on the Grammy Awards because I'm pretty interested in music, and I just love the culture behind it and how prestigious they are, and just seeing some of your favorite celebrities get dressed up and perform, especially when the people you're rooting for win. It's just amazing. I look forward to the Grammys every year. In the recent years, they have been pretty disappointing because it was always one artist just kind of taking every big award, like album of the year, song of the year, artist of the year, all the big ones. I really felt like this year's Grammy Awards were the first year that everyone kind of got a piece of the pie. Everyone got what they deserved, which was why I was kind of upset that people were mad that Harry won because it's not like the people they were rooting for didn't win as well. I just want to give a quick thanks to all of my friends who answered my questions, and thank you guys for listening.
