Hi, I'm Tori and I'm Carly and welcome to our show making money the modern way today We're going to be interviewing a family friend of Carly's who's within the past year blown up on social media practically overnight It seems that social media has been slowly becoming the new modern way to earn money and so many people are getting their full income solely from social media Yeah She and her husband have an account where they review and play board games and they recently quit their jobs and use this platform as Their full income they have over a million followers and they use various social media platforms to post their content It's crazy how people can now make their full income just from social media But I'm curious to see how that works and what has to go into it Her and her husband both work extremely hard and it is a full-time job I know they put a lot of work into it and they even had to get an agent because they couldn't take it all on Their own I was very interested in hearing more of what she has to say about her and her husband's experiences So we got the opportunity to interview her and here's what she said So the first question we asked her was how did you get started in social media? She said we began our channel in 2021 when we met in 2018 One of the first things that we found enjoyment in together was playing board games We love playing new games and playing new games. It was always a challenge to find two-player games So once we noticed we amassed a large collection, we just wanted to share it with others We started on tik-tok and then branched out to their other platforms like Instagram and YouTube The second question we asked her was what are some obstacles that people don't know comes with the job of having a large social media Platform and she said one of the biggest obstacles that people don't realize comes with the job is how intensive it is to stay on top of communication Aside from trying to answer hundreds to thousands of comments a day It can be overwhelming to sort through numerous business requests It can also be a challenge to constantly innovate new and exciting content. There's a lot of behind-the-scenes Work that goes into putting forth the best content as well as partnerships The third thing we asked her was what's the biggest piece of advice you have for someone who's just starting out She said we started our channel as a project of passion Not because we were chasing numbers or any sort of fame if you want to create content center and around something that you love Then ask yourself. What do I bring to the table that is unique to everyone else out there? Board games weren't new when we started out nor was content around board games Board games weren't new when we started out nor was content around board games We found a gap in the market where we could highlight and discuss games in a way That's easy to understand and beneficial to people who may only have one other person to play with Having known her for so long It's so interesting to see how hard her and her husband work behind the scenes to achieve what they do. I agree It's truly inspirational to see a couple who's worked Who's worked so hard together and have come such a long way just through using social media to their full advantage Kind of makes me want to start posting content as well.
