A person reflects on their relationship with a girl who grew up in the palace. They believe that the girl only used the magic of the Wellspring because of her duty to her people, which has caused her to become broken. The person regrets thinking they could help her and takes the blame for it. Enough! I watched that girl grow from a screaming little thing running about the palace halls to the young woman that fought and bled in those tunnels alongside us. She had no want or need for the Wellspring's magic. It was duty to her people that made her claim its power, leaving her as the broken husk of a woman she's become. I had hoped that I might help her in some way, but I realize now that was folly. And for that, the blame lies with me.
