The "Antologia Brasileira" is a collection of prose and poetry written by various Brazilian authors. It was first published in 1900 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Brazil. The book was widely used as a textbook for teaching Brazilian literature and was very popular at the time. It went through numerous editions, with the 17th edition being published in 1935 and the 22nd edition in 1942. The book is divided into two parts, with the first part consisting of prose and the second part consisting of poetry. Its purpose was to introduce young Brazilian readers to the works of the country's most important authors throughout history.
