Russia has a history of propaganda and dictatorship. They deceive their citizens and spread false information, especially during the war with Ukraine. Putin's rule turned Russia back into a dictatorship. Russia uses laws to prevent reporting on certain topics and controls information through propaganda campaigns. They spread fake news to influence elections, like accusing Hillary Clinton of health problems. Russia censors and limits access to technology, creating a dystopian society. It's difficult to help Russian citizens because of Russia's nuclear power. Russia, by title of G. Throughout history, Russia has been known for its propaganda and its dictatorship throughout history. There have been times when Russia would make their country sound better to the citizens than what was actually happening outside. For example, in recent times, the war with Ukraine, there have been multiple times when Russia would say to the citizens, or even the United States and Canada, or NATO, that Russia took over a city, but then Ukraine would come out a few days later and prove that they didn't lose control of the city. Back in the 1990s, when the Soviet Union and Russia broke apart, they were going towards democracy. But this is when Putin took over and became a dictatorship again. The reason for this is that Russia has constantly been telling lies and deceiving the citizens. Is Russia's propaganda working? During the Ukraine conflict, Russia used a law called the War Fake Law, which pretty much prevents anyone reporting on it that is not a government source. And that can lead up to 15 years in prison if caught in violation. Russian propaganda during the Ukraine war has kind of failed to be on the same page. For example, there have been multiple times when Russia and Ukraine would both report on completely different things on the same topic. An outlet that was caught in violation of the Fake News Law, there was an outlet. An example is when Reagan was helping Russia, Russia didn't pay them, so they stopped fighting in the Ukraine war, which is when some sources called them traitors when others downplayed their report. For example, one said that they were traitors or whatnot, but everyone tried to downplay it and said, oh no, they didn't do this. Why does Russia do propaganda and how do they do it? Propaganda campaigns depend on controlled information, source environment, and ability to tap into mythology. For example, Russia's mythology is Slavic, which is a religious belief, mythology, and ritual practice. Federal televisions in Russia have been suspected of propaganda for a while now. There have been multiple researches that proved, some proved, that Russia's federal television was telling lies. How does Russia use propaganda outside of Russia? Russia was accused of spreading fake news to hurt Hillary Clinton and help Donald Trump. Some news that was accused of being fake or propaganda was that Hillary Clinton had health problems, also saying that Hillary Clinton was a criminal. And the reason for this was because they wanted to get Donald Trump in office, because they knew that Donald would be a bit better for Russia than if it was Hillary. Two teams of researchers found that Russia explored the USA's homemade technology platforms to attack the USA at its weakest moment. In the last few months of the election, someone in Russia penetrated the computers of several election state officials, including some information that was stolen or embarrassing emails with Hillary Clinton. Russian censorship. A software entrepreneur in Russia says many of the tools that his employees use are inaccessible now, after 2018 when they started censorship again. He said Russia can't produce high-quality software to compete with the rest of the Earth, because you have people on the other side of the Earth who can have access to these high-tech, that help you a lot programs in Russia. They either have to make their own or deal with downgraded stuff. Why is this a dystopia? The reason this is a dystopia is that Russia is censoring everything and making propaganda, which is clear evidence of a dystopian society. Something I could reference to it is the Hunger Games, in terms of the government trying to make sure that they only hear what they want and see what they want, and believe that they want it, and it's kind of like a fear thing. If they see something they don't like, they would put you in jail, or do some form of punishment, which someone would not like to see. Which is scary, because sadly no one on Earth can help the Russian citizens try to see the true side of what a democracy is, which I feel like some of them would like, as there was a protest in Russia back in 2018, that was saying that they shouldn't go down this route. But because of this, that Russia has all these weapons that could destroy Earth, no one can really do anything. Which is sad, but if we intervene with what they're doing, it could potentially end all life as we know it, with how many nukes they have. The end. Thank you for listening.
