Alexandra Corson, a freshman at Illinois State, is interviewed about her podcast called "Illinois," which focuses on music in different cities of Illinois. Each episode will feature a different guest who knows about that city, discussing the music, genres, and local artists. It will be a new guest each week, with the possibility of some repeat partners. The podcast is inspired by Alexandra's love for music and her desire to be a music journalist in the future. Hello everyone. Welcome to this week's new episode where I get to interview a classmate. Today I am with Alexandra Corson. All right, Alexandra, can you tell me a little bit about yourself? Okay, I am a freshman at Illinois State. I'm a journalism major. In my free time, I like to play guitar and I listen to a lot of music. That's kind of my main thing. Maybe someday I'll be a music journalist, who knows. What got you into playing the guitar? I love that. I started to teach myself how to play guitar when I was about 13 because I got it as a Christmas gift from my mom and it just kind of stuck with me throughout my life because I've always had a love for music of all kinds. I love that. All right, what is your podcast about? Well, this is a perfect segue into my podcast which is about music and it's specifically about music in Illinois. The podcast is called Illinois. It's kind of a play on words. I love that. It's also a bit of a reference to the album Illinois by, I'm going to butcher the name, which is so embarrassing, Stephon Stephon Stevens. So yeah, and each episode is going to focus on a different city or a part of Illinois where I will have a different guest who knows about that place and they will, and the episode will kind of like go into depth about the music from that city, the different genres. It'll be different artists. It'll be local artists sometimes, specifically in the Blono area. There will be an episode for that in Bloomington Normal where I think it'll be a great opportunity to talk about some of the local artists because that is, I feel like I'm pretty, I know about that. I love that. That's so original. Thank you. Do you have any partners or it's just like the new guests each week? Yeah, it'll be like a different guest each episode.
