Welcome back to THV Podcast, I'm your host Tony here and today we'll be talking about my quarterback Jordan Love. I have a friend of mine who asked me, I should talk about Jordan Love more and you know what, I will decide to, why not, today. And I've, there's a lot of, I think he told me there's a lot of Aaron Rodgers rumors out there and he's tired of all that. So he wants to, here's something different and here's something that, you know, the guy that was behind him could be our guy for this year. So in case you guys don't know who Jordan Love is, Jordan Love is the guy that we drafted in the 2020 NFL Draft in the first round in the 26th pick. During the draft, the package turned up for Jordan Love from the, I think the 28th spot to get to 26th spot from what I remember during the draft. And during that draft, the package was the game of moving on from Aaron Rodgers because Aaron Rodgers was not performing the way how he was supposed to be. And the next two years later, he has gotten two MVPs, which is amazing and great for him. Congrats to Aaron Rodgers for that. So to go back to Jordan Love, in 2017, playing for Utah State as a freshman, he's played in 12 games and started the final six. He finished the season completing 129 of 235 passes for 1,631 yards in eight touchdowns and six interceptions. In 2018, during his sophomore year, Love started all 13 games, completing 267 of 417 passing for his school season record of 3,567 yards and 32 touchdowns and six interceptions. He was also named MVP of the 2018 New Mexico Bowl after passing for 359 yards and four touchdowns. His team also finished the season with 11-2 record and ranked number 22 on the AP poll. Following his sophomore season, he was expected to be a future NFL first round pick. In 2019, Love returned to Utah State under a new head coach and offensive coordinator and saw many teammates from his previous season graduate, including four starters on the offensive line. He again started all 13 games, completing 293 of 417 passing for 3,402 yards with 20 touchdowns and a high career of 17 interceptions. He led his team to a 7-6 record with the changes to the roster and coaching staff. Following the end of 2019 season, Jordan Love announced that he will forgo his senior year by entering the 2020 NFL Draft. So now with all the stats and all that information, you may think that Jordan Love could be a good decent quarterback, right? No, you guys wouldn't think he's that great at all because too many Rodgers fans would compare him to Aaron Rodgers. And we know that. They say that Jordan Love is not going to be Aaron Rodgers. Please think about it, Jordan Love is just Jordan Love. Why does he need to cope the fact that I had to be the next Aaron Rodgers? Why be that when he could be the next Jordan Love himself? And that's the goal of why we drafted him. His stats in college was great. In 2018, it was amazing. 2018, things kind of went down. And it happens like that. And there's nothing wrong with that because you have to make mistakes to be able to improve. And that's just life. And if you don't, then it's going to be hard for you to make changes to yourself or as a person, lay it down in your life. So up next, what I'm going to talk about is his strengths and weaknesses from his combine, from his college, and from his highlights. To start out with, he has a great arm strength. And he showed it during, I guess the 409ers, during the preseason game. He threw a deep to Romeo Dobbs, I believe he called it, from what I remembered. And he showed that he has no problem throwing it deep. He has no problem. If someone's a little bit down deep, he will give you the ball. There are times where he can actually throw some flashes, like accuracy, to you, the receiver, which is great too. There was a play against the Saints when they came to Lambeau Field during the preseason. Romeo Dobbs lined up at the one-yard line, and I saw Jordan Love was looking his way. And Jordan Love placed the ball where it needed to be placed. And guess what? When Romeo Dobbs caught that ball, it was great. Not just that, Jordan Love can also extend the play, can really run for the ball, run with the ball. And his mobility is pretty good too. I got to say, his mobility was probably better than Aaron Rodgers during his fourth season with the Packers, or third season with the Packers. For Jordan Love that kind of had that, which is great for us because we never had a mobility quarterback besides, honestly, I don't know the last time we had a mobility guy. But that's what we need, us, for Packers fans. And now, you think about it, Justin Fields, mobile. And Lamar Jackson, mobile. Any quarterback that you can think of, they are so mobile, they can run with the ball and extend the play and get the first down. And that's what we need. So for weaknesses, guys, this is going to be really hard to take. I have to say that he is not ready to play in his development. But guess what, he's been with ARL for three years and I think he is ready to play. He showed that he could be that guy. So another one to name off is his poor vision, as in poor field vision, which is okay, that's fine. It's all about getting better every week, and that's what he's been doing. But like I said, these are just the NFL draft prospects of what they thought about him now. Now, there are times, now when we saw him play against Philly when Aaron Rodgers got hurt, he threw darts and it was amazing. He almost brought the Packers back to the game against the Eagles. But we lost that game, but they won the game and that's fine. But just by re-watching those plays, most of his throws to his receivers and the running backs or Aaron Jones, those balls are placed perfectly good for the receiver to catch the ball. And that just showed how much he has improved from last season when Aaron Rodgers had COVID, I guess, the Chiefs, and Jordan Love had to come in and play. And everyone would just say, oh, Jordan Love, man, he's, oh, man, he's a boss. He's not that guy that he can't throw a ball to save his own life. He had Devontae Adams, one of the best receivers in the league. Yes, I get that. But you need to understand that he's still in development. He's still learning how to be a good quarterback. But now, now that I think his time is now, because if you don't start him and you turn him away, it's going to be hard for us to find a new quarterback in the draft. And finding that guy in the draft is going to be very difficult. And we've seen the Bears draft so many pack, so many quarterbacks, and they cannot find their guy. And Justin Fields now, is now another guy. And that's for the Packers now. They need to really focus on this kid. And he's going to bring, he's going to help us a lot down the road. And like I said before, here and now, he has a good, he has a great coach in Matt LaFleur. His scheme may or may not be that great. But Jordan Love will follow the script of what Matt LaFleur has to do. He still has Kusher Watson, and he still has Romare Dobbs, Aaron Jones, and Adrian Dillon to help him on his offense. And our offense on line is still great. David Batari plans to come back to Green Bay. We got Nathan Jenkins at Pro Bowler. And we have Josh Nauman, who may or may not want to stay, and some more, and Josh Mayers to our center. So Jordan Love has his keys. He has the weapons that he needs. And all we've got to do now is just wait to what the Packers want to do in the draft and free agency. And that will be in the next video, too, until the day gets closer. And not just that, you know, by watching Jordan Love's highlights, it kind of gives me hope. It really gives me hope of knowing that I'm, I feel good with our quarterback there if Aaron Rodgers does leave Green Bay. And I, I'm fine with that. And I would be happy to have him be our starter. He deserves a chance to start right here, right now. And that's why we drafted him for a reason. So as of now, we just have to wait until next season and support Jordan Love all the way. And I believe that's all he wants from us Packer fans. He just wants to support him. And that's all we show him, the love that he deserves from us. And that's all he wants. So as of now, this is all I got on Jordan Love for today. I just want to show to those Jordan Love haters out there that don't worry, everything's going to be all right with Jordan Love.
