"Around the World on a Bicycle, Vol. 1" is a book about Thomas Stevens, who was the first person to travel around the world on a bicycle in the late 1800s. He began his journey in San Francisco and cycled all the way to Boston, where he took a steamer to England. From there, he crossed through Europe and Asia Minor, but was turned back at the borders of Afghanistan. He then returned part of the way and took a ship to Karachi, from where he cycled through India. He continued his journey by taking another steamship to Hong Kong, and from there, he cycled to Shanghai and Japan. The book is an exciting account of his adventures and the challenges he faced on his journey.
