Thomas O'Neill, a Pokemon expert, is a guest on the SAS 9th grade science teacher's podcast. He talks about his background in Pokemon and his favorite poison Pokemon, Gengar. They also discuss the environmental issues in the Pokemon region of Kanto, with Team Rocket being a major problem. The podcast ends with a mention of the next week's topic, One Piece. And welcome to the SAS 9th grade science teacher's podcast. Today, you've been asking for it, we're talking about Pokemon. Welcome to our resident guest, Pokemon expert, Thomas O'Neill. Hey Hank, thanks for letting me be on the show, long time listener, first time on it, so very excited to be here. Yeah, so I was curious if you could tell us a little bit about your background in Pokemon. You're an expert, we know, but how did you get into the game? What excites you the most? Oh, absolutely. I remember when it first came out, you know, back in the 90s, I got first Pokemon Blue, got some trading cards, and it's just been a downhill spiral of interest ever since then. Awesome. So, let's, we've been studying environmental issues and we're moving into this whole new unit about thinking about the science behind them. What is your favorite poison Pokemon? Ooh Hank, that's a load of questions. There's so many really cool ones out there, but I think I'm going to have to pick one of the original 151 Pokemon called Gengar, poison ghost type. Gengar? I actually did not realize Gengar was poison. Yeah, it's a second typing, so not a lot of people know that. It's really cool stuff, though. Now, we all know the region of Pokemon is called Kanto, and there's tons of issues facing Kanto as a whole. What would you say is the biggest environmental issue at the moment? Oh, probably the impact of Team Rocket. They're just impacting a lot of communities and Pokemon species, and it's just having its toll on Kanto. And we all know Team Rocket is known for their Pokemon cruelty. That is true, yeah. They're not exactly an ideal group you want to be involved with. And there you have it. Thank you so much for Thomas for being here. Thanks Hank for having me. We look forward to talking to you guys next week about One Piece. Take care and make good choices, y'all.
