Welcome back to the Christian career coach today We're talking all about resumes and I've got 10 Websites that will help you build your own Resume that they have templates and platforms and just a variety of ways now that you can actually design your own Professional resume using a template before we do start talking about these websites There's there's some important things to remember about your resume Keep in mind that regardless of whatever industry you're in Your resume is a marketing document It should be clear concise and you want to tailor it so that you showcase your strengths and your qualifications For the specific job that you're applying for. So keep that in mind as we go through I also want to mention that When you do choose a template when you do when you're ready and you're actually ready to choose the template and start writing you want to consider the industry that you're applying to and The impression that you want to make you should always try to opt for something that's clean and professional and something that Enhances the readability of the content on the page and again Always ensure that the template that you choose make sure it aligns with the type of job that you're seeking So without further ado, we're going to dive in the first one is The one that is wearing the Captain Obvious hat So my first site or my first template that I'm going to tell you about is Microsoft Word templates Microsoft Word now offers a variety of built-in Resume templates you can find them by just simply opening up Word just a plain Word document And then if you select file and then new when you're in that search page Resume templates will actually appear for you and then just click on one and it'll take you you can actually go to a whole Resume section and you'll see just tons and tons of Microsoft Word templates and you can just fill in the template with your information. That's the easiest one probably Okay, number two kind of one step up from Microsoft Word But I think Microsoft is getting there, but this one is your Google Docs templates This is probably a little bit more popular nowadays However, if you haven't heard of this if you're not familiar Google Docs Also provides a range of resume templates very similar to the Microsoft Word templates You just want to open Google Docs Then you can click on template gallery in the it's it like in the upper right hand corner and then just search for resumes So you've got your Microsoft Word templates You can choose a template in Google Doc if you want to get fancy Or maybe you are applying for a graphic design job or any any creative Type of role. This is the one that comes to mind the most and that's Canva If you've listened to any of my previous episodes, then you probably know that I am NOT a huge fan of these templates However, it does have a whole section Canva does have an entire section for resume templates If you're not familiar with what Canva is, it's an online graphic design tool that offers Everything from resume templates to social media templates to it's different. I mean it even breaks down your social media So, you know if you are looking for something for LinkedIn if you're looking for something for Instagram If you're looking for something for Facebook, it breaks down all those social media Graphics for you and you kind of pick and choose there's some that are free There's some that you can pay for but again, this is going to be for more creative roles or more creative industries Is what I would recommend the Canva resume template for if you're going for something administrative hospitality health care engineering Technology, I would not recommend Canva for that Okay, so some different websites that actually will build your resume for you is my number four on the list So resume builder websites, you know easiest one is resume.com There's also resume genius Nova resume and and several others out there You can easily just do a Google search for a web You know ask Google what website will build me a resume and plenty of them will pop up for you But they have resume building tools with various template options You can create and download your resume in different formats including PDF DOC JPEG all of those So if you are a little bit more advanced and you want to try something that is a little bit Different than than your standard templates, then I would recommend using a resume builder website Okay, so number five on my list is one that is unique Maybe you've never thought of it like this However Etsy, so, of course, you've probably heard of Etsy It's a marketplace where designers can actually offer Customizable resume templates so you can actually buy a template from someone who has created it This is a good way to find something that's unique or maybe a creative design Something that really kind of suits your style. There are tons out there on Etsy So if you've never actually gone down the rabbit hole and you have the spare time Then I would recommend you check it out and see if you like it And if you've got the money for it, then you can buy your own resume template. Now if you happen to really enjoy Designing then Behance is a platform that you can use to showcase your work You can actually find resume templates that are created by talented designers. Some of them can be free but others are You know, you're gonna have to pay for several of them that are on there This one's kind of new to the game. But again, it's another site that you can go similar to Etsy and Find a resume template that's been created by a designer or if you're a designer if you like to write resumes creating resumes You can create something and actually sell it on Behance. All right Okay, the next couple are going to be similar to Behance. Number seven on my list is Graphic River and number eight is Hloom. Graphic River offers a Variety of templates both in American format resume as well as CV format Which is pretty much everything but American. So European I mean everywhere I think every other country other than the US calls it a CV No major difference other than CVs do have a headshot and a little bit more personal information on there But anyways, these templates they're often again created by professional designers and can either be free or sorry No, Graphic River There's you actually pay a one-time fee and once you pay that one-time fee Then you have access to the templates and those templates are created by a professional designer So again, it's going to be part of a bigger market there But it's a there you do have to pay for those resume templates. Hloom has a bunch of free resume templates they're in both Word and Google format and they have templates for a bunch of different industries and Job positions, so it's kind of like a preset Template that is for a specific role So those are a little bit more unique sites that you can check out if you're open to something more creative Maybe something that you pay for and just something that is different. Okay number nine Number nine on my list is kick resume This is actually a resume builder that does have templates and then you can customize the templates based on your preferences So this one's kind of cool because you can build it along with like through the system You can build it, but you're building it in one of their templates So you can check that out as well. Kick resume is the name of that one and then finally number ten last but certainly not least is Drumroll you got it LinkedIn LinkedIn provides a feature called Resume builder that allows you basically to turn your LinkedIn profile into a resume. It's not going to be as Customizable but it can be very quick and a very easy way to create a basic resume If especially if you've never had one before it's a great way to get a first one out there You know if you're new to the job search if you've never had a job search before and you know This might be your first time then certainly this is a great way to get get yourself a beginner resume Go ahead and do that resume builder in LinkedIn. And yes, it's free So that's a lot of different sites and ways that you can actually get yourself a resume So that you can be professional in your job search so that you can actually start that job search Writing resumes may not be the most fun for you or a lot of people actually it's it's great fun for me I actually really enjoy it. I tell my clients that I geek out Writing resumes I do really enjoy pulling out the those key Assets of a person when you think about it being a marketing document just think about the best selling points that you have and I love to pull those out and Make them kind of dance on the paper you know just looking at someone's old resume in their old format and then taking that information and Making it really stand out and match those positions that they are applying for Anyways, that's a little bit of me geeking out about resume writing. I enjoy it If you can't tell Okay, so let's breeze through these quickly I just want to recap all ten the first one was Microsoft Word templates The second one that I mentioned was Google Docs templates. The third site is Canva. The fourth is Some multitude of websites, but they're called resume builder websites like resume.com Novo resume and resume genius Number five is Etsy. Number six is Behance Number seven is Graphic River. Number eight is Hloom Number nine is Kickresume and number ten is LinkedIn. I like how that rhymed All right, just remember again You know make sure that you're considering the industry that you're applying to the impression you want to make and always be sure to opt For a clean and professional design.
