The podcast discusses the use of social media platforms for adult learners. YouTube is recommended for one-on-one learning with educators uploading videos for students to watch and take notes. Instagram can also be used for one-on-one instruction, sharing lives and stories to promote school projects. Pinterest allows for collaboration with creative sharing, while Facebook enables group discussions and updates. These tools can be used for individualized and collaborative learning. Using social media helps create engaging learning platforms and build relationships. Hello, I am your host, Sonia Fulgham, and the title of week two podcast is about analyzing social media. This podcast is designed for all adult educators, trainers, and development professionals to understand what social media platforms best support adult learners. Let's dive right in. So I analyzed two social media platforms, one, YouTube, and the second one is Instagram. Both are appropriate for the individual learning experience. YouTube can be used for one-on-one experiences. The educator or trainer can upload learning videos on Blackboard and other learning platforms for the student to look at. Each student can watch the learning videos as often as they like to get the information needed and to take notes. The student can watch from anywhere, which makes learning more convenient and flexible. YouTube can be used as an extensive resource library for various subjects, and it allows educators to connect with and support each other in a unique way. Now let's talk about Instagram. Instagram can also be used for one-on-one instruction. You can post lives and stories that can be shared to promote school learning projects, and it can keep students informed about the latest class information. Videos and photos can be displayed to help with adult learning. Then hashtags can be added to help other students follow or look at it, like hashtag social media platforms or hashtag adult learning. Now let's examine social media platforms that are appropriate for adult learner collaborations. Here are two that I want to share with you. The first one is Pinterest. This tool allows things to be shared in a creative way to encourage students to collaborate and share about the content. Groups can be formed to follow certain class projects, and there are many ways to collaborate with students and teachers on Pinterest, such as study groups, group discussions, and creating classroom boards for others to follow. The second social media platform is Facebook. With the Facebook tool, students can post or share posts that allow others to watch or be a part of. Facebook also allows for a certain class or group to start their own page or group discussions for only the class to use. Then, connected to Facebook is Messenger, where students and teachers can do chats that involve updates and important information only shared within that group. These are some great social media tools that adult educators and trainers can use to share professional knowledge and to be creative in the delivery process. Adult learners want to be engaged, and these are some creative ways of engaging students. These tools can be used for individualized learning and for collab learning. All are suitable and interchangeable for adult learning experiences. As adult educators, we want to create effective learning platforms and make it interesting for students. Using social media helps in creating creative ways to build relationships and to reach our overall learning objectives. I hope this information was helpful and thank you for listening. Happy learning!
