Digital technology combined with accessibility strategies is important for enhancing meaningful learning experiences. Digital technology refers to the use of electronics, computers, and software in processing and sharing information. It has been integrated into education through computers, tablets, and smart boards. However, many students face difficulties accessing this technology. Accessibility depends on flexible and well-matched content delivery to users. Some accessibility strategies include enlarging text, text-to-speech, changing font, and navigation options. Treating everyone equally may not be effective in education, as not every individual is the same. Equity, which takes into account individual circumstances and provides necessary support, is more beneficial for student success. Digital technology has eased the workload for students, especially during COVID when remote learning became essential. Schools used accessible remote learning methods like Zoom and uploading lectures Hi, everyone. My name is Maddie Musso, and you're listening to Maddie's MP3. Today, I'm going to be talking to you about the importance of digital technology combined with accessibility strategies to enhance meaningful learning experiences. First off, digital technology refers to the use of electronics, computers, and software to process and share information. More recently, digital tech has been integrated into the educational process by using computers, tablets, smart boards, et cetera. However, many students have individual struggles and circumstances that make using or having access to this technology and information more difficult. Accessibility depends on content and how that content is delivered to a user. Digital content should be flexible and well-matched with the abilities of the user. Some current accessibility strategies are enlarging text, text-to-speech, changing font, navigation options, mobile technology, et cetera. Many teachers or professors believe that the standard of learning is treating everyone equally, meaning attempting to treat everyone the same. However, not every individual is the same. This is why using equity in the classroom will be more beneficial for student success in school. Equity focuses on taking into account individual circumstances and that everyone has what they need to succeed, even if this means giving some people more support than others. As I do not need many accommodations personally, digital technology has eased my workload as a student and often aids me in completing homework assignments or studying for exams. However, during COVID, the accessibility of digital technology was essential for students to continue on with their education. During this time, schools used accessible remote learning by using Zoom, uploading lectures, assignments, and notes to make sure everyone could get access to their work in a safe and healthy manner. These types of simple accessibility strategies and adjustments had and will continue to have a huge impact on students around the world. Thank you all for tuning in to Maddie's MP3.
