Hello everybody, I am Cheyenne and I will be talking about Las Postadas, the celebration of the Christmas story. Las Postadas is most common in Mexico. It is taking place on December 16th to the 24th. Las Postadas is filled with story, song, dancing, and a colorful piñata. There is so much you might be interested in. Let me start by talking about the storyline that fashioned Las Postadas. In the Bible it reads that an angel from the Lord came down and told Mary and her husband they would be looking after his child. So they set off to Bethlehem to raise the Savior they call Jesus. When they got to Bethlehem they were trying to get a room but every single house was full for the holiday. People were sleeping on the streets left and right. No house was accessible. But eventually they found a small barn they were going to sleep the night in. There is a song called Postada that explains two people get dressed up as Mary and Joseph singing around the story that I just read out to you just now. This holiday is celebrated on nine days to thank Mary for caring Jesus for nine months. It's not all standing in the cold and singing about events that happened centuries ago. When all the neighbors have gotten their turn to deny Mary and Joseph they would go to the host's house or wherever the event is held and finish the song. And that is where the real party begins. When the guests enter the host's building they have a couple of options they might want to do. Go on the dance floor and dance or eat a delicious beef tamale alongside with a nice cup of Christmas fruit punch or you might as well join the riot around the piñata. The food that is most common at a Las Postadas are tamales. Tamales are a traditional Christmas food and can come in many varieties. A nice recipe for tamale bites that I found is on asaprecipes.com slash tamale bites recipe. You can pair these snacks with a delicious Christmas punch. As I pass around the tamale bites let me explain my favorite part, the piñata. This colorful paper machine
