Publius Papinius Statius
Publius Papinius Statius was a renowned Roman poet who lived in the 1st century AD. He is well-known for his Latin poetry, which includes the epic poem, Thebaid, consisting of twelve books, a collection of occasional poetry called Silvae, and an unfinished epic poem called Achilleid. Additionally, he gained recognition for his appearance as a guide in the Purgatory section of Dante's Divine Comedy.
