Omar Ali Hassan, a grade 6 student, is raising awareness about Zero Hunger, a global problem of ensuring food and water access for everyone. The United Nations set a goal to achieve Zero Hunger by 2030. Poverty caused by climate change and economic collapse is the main cause. Currently, 10% of the population (128 million people) are suffering, with examples from Ukraine and Palestine. Hunger has severe health and societal impacts. Solutions include addressing climate change, supporting farmers, reducing food and water waste, and being mindful of consumption. Omar urges listeners to help. Hello everyone, my name is Omar Ali Hassan and I'm a student from grade 6 that's trying to raise awareness about the SDG goal, Zero Hunger, and I will be explaining it in this podcast. First of all, what is Zero Hunger? Zero Hunger is a problem facing the world, and it's about everyone having access to food and water. And it was set by the United Nations, and they're expected to hit their goal by 2030, which they are aiming for as a due date. And since 2015, it started alarming them, and that was the year that it became severe. People are suffering and dying from it, as 135 million people have been in a horrible situation and hunger status. And it is an international issue. Third of all, what are the causes of Zero Hunger? The main cause of hunger is poverty, which is caused by climate change and economic collapse. Third of all, what are the effects? Hunger is affecting 128 million people, so currently, 10% of the population are suffering, which is a very huge amount. And as an example, in Ukraine, they are getting cut off food supplies. And in Palestine, 567,000 people are suffering from hunger, and 2 million are eating bad food. Also, hunger has a very high effect on health, and it has an impact on individuals and families. Fourth of all, the solutions. One of the solutions that should be focused on is to resist climate change. And we have to help farmers connect to the market. And we also have to try and reduce food waste, as well as water waste. Another solution that also helps a lot is that we have to eat in a careful way. And we should try to finish our food and not waste it. And to not waste water. Thank you for listening, and please try to help.
