Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. was a multi-talented American individual who excelled in various fields. He was not only a physician, but also a poet, professor, lecturer, and author. Among his contemporaries, he was highly regarded as one of the finest writers of the 19th century and was even recognized as a member of the esteemed Fireside Poets group. One of his most notable accomplishments was the creation of the "Breakfast-Table" series, which commenced with his renowned work, The Autocrat of the Breakfast-Table, published in 1858. In addition to his literary achievements, Holmes is also celebrated for his contributions as a medical reformer.
