Welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome. Welcome to Nico Sports Insights. Today we have a special guest, Joey the Joy Brown. He will be joining us next to Nicolas for our season finale of this wonderful season one episode of Nico Sports Insights. How are you, Nico? Good. Now I would like to introduce our guest. We will ask him a few questions and you'll see what he knows and what we can talk about maybe. I think he should introduce Joey the Joy Brown and tell us who he is. Okay, so Joey, I would like to ask you a few questions. Let all of our listeners know, what's your favorite basketball team? My dad kind of taught him in two ways and he's kind of like the most into them. I kind of also started to like them. The Celtics? Yeah. Okay. Well, isn't Joey the one who got you into basketball and into football? Yeah, that's true. And then you got him into soccer. Yeah. So he's a pretty good soccer player now too. Yeah. That's wonderful. All right, what are we going to talk about today? I'd like to ask you a few more questions. Let everyone else know, what's your favorite football team? Packers. Packers. My dad liked them when he was at the Pride. You know, he did grow up in New York. His mom was a Jets fan and his dad was a Dyches fan. And then I kind of just fell in love with him. Packers. Very interesting. A Packers fan, huh? Interesting. All right. And your mom, is she into football at all? Yeah, you know, every once in a while. Like three games a year, kind of watch the game. You know, maybe a little bit. Yeah. And what about your brother? Is he into soccer? Not that much. No? So you're the sporty one in your family then? Yeah, my dad is also, but my brother is really into history. Yeah. Geography. So what's your favorite soccer team? I don't really have one, kind of. I don't know that many. I just enjoy kind of playing as a sport. I mean, I enjoy watching just teams play, but I mean, I just kind of like it. Okay. So, we will start off with our basketball talk today. I think yesterday's game was very interesting. Yes, yesterday's game. Want to start with that? Yes. The Golden State Warriors defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 125-116 in overtime. It really, it mostly improved the chances of the Celtics getting number one seed in the East and also the whole NBA. And now that we get to the Celtics, the Atlanta Hawks were defeated by the Celtics last night. I believe it was 134-125. I'm not so sure about that. Or maybe it's the other way around, 135-124. But either way, Celtics won. And now I believe they're two games apart from the Bucks, which means that now they're getting pretty close together. Again, they're getting close to a tie. Are you rooting for the Celtics, Joey? Yes. It's pretty much. Did you watch the game yesterday? Yes, I did. Who was your favorite player in that game? Steph Cole, I think. And the Celtics. The Celtics. Yeah, I think it was a different game. I didn't watch it, but I mean, I saw the halftime score. I saw the Celtics up by, I think, 10. Yeah, they were up by like 10. By halftime? Yeah, I think it was a different game. 55. 55. Yeah. Yeah. I feel like they were up by 9 or 10. Yeah, 9 or 10. So, what do you think will happen to the Bucks after this loss? Do you think maybe they can pull away from the Celtics? Do you think maybe the Celtics might catch up? What do you think? I kind of think maybe the Celtics have a chance of catching up. Like maybe get close and just barely get past the Bucks and get that full seed in the East. Yeah. I've actually been listening to the sports news lately, and it turns out March Madness has started in college basketball. Oh, boy. It's going to be crazy. This is like national championship type of stuff. There's 64 teams. Four. Four. And now that's 60 different, so now there's a ton of rounds. In fact, yesterday I believe it was the Pac-12 championship, I believe, last night. Turns out, I remember watching the UCLA game. I don't know who won that game. All I know is that it was UCLA against, I believe, Arizona. Yeah, that was a pretty interesting game. I believe that that was a good game. I believe the UCLA one, I believe. Also, you know, I haven't been talking a lot about hockey this, in this podcast, but I just want to get a little bit into that. That the Boston Bruins are on pace to set a new record for wins in a season and points in a season. Points as in, like, they give you three points for every win, you know, like in soccer. But there's 82 games. 82 games? Yeah. Wow. Just like the NBA. Yeah. And the thing is about that is that that gives teams lots of chances. I think the record is like 100-something. And the record for wins is 63. And the Bruins have, I believe, 52. And there's like, what, 20 games left. So they're probably going to break that record, because they're pretty good. But then, I remember my friend from school is a, well, he was born in New York, but he's really a big Avalanche fan. And what happened to the Colorado Avalanche? They won the Stanley Cup last year. They won the championship. And now they're like fifth in their league, in their conference. So that's something to watch for. They have a super team that is fifth in their conference. I just wanted to get into that. So, Joey, do you believe that, well, first of all, let's say, what happened to the Cowboys kicker? And are they still going to keep their kicker after he missed like five, six extra points in their last three games? What do you think they're going to do to the kicker? I don't know. I mean, I don't know really what happened to the kicker that much. It's just that he just started missing. I think he cost them the... I wouldn't say that he cost them because, I mean, sure, they lost one game in the last game in the seventh week, 18. They lost their game and he missed an extra point. They lost 26 to 6. And then he missed, I believe it was four extra points against the Buccaneers, but they still won. But then he only missed one against the 49ers and then he got to field goals. So, I don't know. You trade him because if you keep everybody, you have like negative $12 million in your pocket, which means you get penalized. Like they make you pay like $1 million, $2 million if that happens. So now, do you trade Dak Prescott, their quarterback, and he cost them $34 million and he had the most interceptions in the league. He was pretty bad this season. Do you keep your best running back, who cost you $13 million? Or do you trade your kicker, who cost you $9 million, but still, you still have a chance of penalizing, but they have no kicker to replace him. They don't have a good kicker. Their only replacements are worse. Yeah. So, very, very bad situation for the Cowboys right now. There's no way in the world that, I bet in the next 15 years, they will not make it to the Super Bowl in the next 15 years if they do not change something. 15 years? Yeah, if they don't change anything. If they don't make a big change. Well, in 15 years, they're going to have to change a lot of players because they don't last that long. Yeah. The NFL draft, okay, I just want to talk about something. Why did the Bears trade Justin Fields? Why? What do you think? I don't know why. He was amazing at running the ball. I mean, he had six games more than 50-yard rushing touchdowns. Yeah, he was averaging a 60-yard touchdown a game for five games in a row. No, I think it was six. Six, yeah, like six. And you traded. I mean, it's understandable because you have the first pick in the draft, so you can pick the best player. But then again, they might pick another player that isn't a quarterback and then they're stuck with nobody. They have no replacement quarterbacks, literally. So, they're going to have to buy somebody rapidly. They're going to have to get a quarterback later in the draft. And here's a strategy for next season. If you're losing lots of games, try to lose, if you're like 10 games in and you don't miss the playoffs, try and lose the games. Because then you might get the first pick in the draft and maybe you'll have a good team the next year. I mean, if you're losing lots of games, what's the point of really trying to win if you're only going to get bad picks and it's going to keep going over and over and over and over if you keep doing that? If you miss the playoffs but you're a mediocre team who doesn't get a top 10 pick, then once you're losing so many games, just lose it. You might as well just lose everything so that you get better picks. Yeah, you might as well. Yeah, but you may lose some fans in the process. It's all about the fans. Yeah, but then you might gain some fans in the process the next year. Now, do any of you, especially Joy, I'm asking you, do you believe the process is over in Philadelphia? It started in 2016 when they started rebuilding, hasn't worked since. Do you think it's over, finally? I don't know. It could be maybe over, finally. I mean, it's just kind of like from what happened this year. They only made it to the playoffs the year before this year and then they come this year and they almost got undefeated and also they go to the Super Bowl and they just lose. No, I'm talking about the 76ers. Do you think the process is over? Yeah, maybe actually. I kind of think the process could be over. Yeah, for the Eagles, they've also had a process going. They've had it going for around 15 years. They've had a process going. But what is the process, air quotes, as you're saying? As in they're trying to rebuild the team. They actually won the Super Bowl in 2018. They beat the Patriots, Tom Brady and the Patriots. But it was really by luck. It was by chance. Brady wasn't playing that day. He was not playing his best game. So they kind of got lucky on that day. So it's not really like they had a good team that year. They had a mediocre team. And they started to rebuild because their quarterback, Carson Wentz, now he's developed a reputation of getting injured. And they have to trade him. And then they had Nick Foles, who they also traded. And then they were stuck with Jalen Hurts who they drafted. And last season he was pretty bad. He was bad last season. Mediocre. And now he suddenly comes out and he becomes a good player. And almost wins the league MVP. I don't know. I just think the process in both basketball and football in Philadelphia is finally over. Finally. So, what do you think, Joey? What do you think should be covered? Well, Philadelphia. Philadelphia can go on that thing. On what? Like kind of maybe in basketball I think it actually could be over. And then also football. Yeah, kind of. Okay, so what do you think is going to happen to Houston Rockets? What is happening to them this season? They're like a really bad team. Four seasons ago, five, they had the MVP who was averaging like 35 points a game. And now they're the worst team in the league. What is happening to them? What do you think? I don't know. It's kind of like some people also still get tired and start to lose their ability also. So that happens to Houston. Yeah, they have only one bright star. Danny Green. And he's like, no, not Danny Green. It's some other guy. I don't know. I don't know his name. I forgot his name. But the thing is that really what like, I don't know how they're losing so many games. Oh, I have no idea how the San Antonio Spurs were up 10 against the Nuggets yesterday. They were beating the Denver Nuggets by 10. I don't know the score. In fact, Dan, can you look up and search what happened in the San Antonio Spurs versus the Denver Nuggets? Because that's very interesting what happened. Shocker. The Spurs are like the third worst team in the league. And the Nuggets are the second best team in the league. Right? Third best. And they're like, that's shocking. That's a big difference. 13 difference. Did that game already happen? Yeah, it happened yesterday. Nugget versus... San Antonio Spurs. Or you can just look up Spurs. Wow. Who won? The Spurs, 128 to 120. Okay. In overtime. That is shocking. Because... Not in overtime. In final time. The Nuggets are a really good team. And they lose to the second worst team in the league. Third worst. Wow. Wow. Wow. That... That really is shocking. That is probably the biggest upset of the season. Probably. As of now. What do you think is... What do you think happened to the Kings, Joey? What do you think? That was shocking how they're now the third best team in the West. Third in the West. The Kings... They started like... They were 11th. To start the season. Yeah, but that season they were really bad. They were really bad. And then they started like how everybody thought they were. And then they just... They tore down five. And then went straight up down to like... To like... Second spot. Yeah, second spot. Second to third spot. Um... You know what? This is a bonus. This guy is... Has the most double-doubles in the entire NBA. What is a double-double? Um... Let's say you have two... Ten points. If you have more than ten points or more than ten rebounds... Well... If you have more than ten... Ten... In two things... Let's say points, assists, rebounds, blocks, steals. That type of stuff. And you have two. That's called a double-double. A triple-double is... A triple-double is the same thing but triples. Three times. And a quadruple-double is when you do four times and it goes so on. A quadruple-double is only the none ones in history. And Savonis has the... At least the most... I mean... I think like the second most triple-doubles this season. Second most. And... That is a very big surprise because... This guy had nothing really last season. He had nobody. Okay. What happened... Damian Lillard is bombs away. He can hit anything. He's averaging 32 points a game. A few... I believe two months ago... Two months ago... He scored 71 points in a game. The second most this season. Donovan Mitchell in like... Back in December scored 72 in a game. But that just shows that Damian Lillard is a very good player. He's scoring like 45... Sometimes 60... 50... 35... 40... 55... All these different types of points but they're really high. Yet still the Portland Trailblazers are a bad team. So he's trying to carry the team... Yeah, he's carrying the team on his own. And... I don't know. That's just kind of... It's a point of worry. You need to surround a good player with people or else he's not going to do it all on his own. It's not like you get... This is a soccer example. You don't just grab Hall and then put him on a team in Saudi Arabia... And you expect to win the World... The Club World Cup. The Club World Cup. You can't just do that and expect it. You have to actually surround him with people that are good. Which is what Manchester City is. So you put him on a team that's good. And has good people surrounding him. But the Trailblazers have a losing record for that. Because they have nobody else but Damian Lillard. Well... I'm going to shift gears quickly and see if we can talk a little bit about soccer. Because... I want to know what you thought of that game. LAFC against Tallahuelense in Costa Rica. We got... Buonga had a hat trick. Oh nice. Buonga played an amazing game. Do you have any... I don't know. That was really impressive for him. And a very good way to start the CONCACAF Champions League. So LAFC won that game. Yes. And we're playing again the second round of that here. So what was the score? 3-0. Oh nice. That's going to be... Ok. I think we have a foundation laid. We have our first game of the season against Portland. We have our second game of the season tonight actually at home. And... I just wanted to... Yeah. Thanks for pointing that out. I did not know that. And do you think we need another forward at the LAFC? Or do you think we maybe need a better... Additional defense? You know what? Yeah. More additional... I mean... Yeah. Additional defense. Because... In that game against Portland we were winning 3-0. And then suddenly they scored two goals and we almost lost. So... Probably add some world class... Or maybe post world class defense. Or maybe some... I mean we have Fiorini. Yeah but... He's getting older now. So now you need to... I think the LAFC might get Fabinho. Which is a very good option. You think? Yeah. I think there's a possibility that he might come. Well, he announced he's not going to play for Liverpool anymore. Wow. That is shocking. It is shocking. I think his coach was shocked. Yeah. Ian Klopp is probably shocked. I think it's just because he isn't playing that much. Really? Yeah. He isn't playing that much. Well... I see... That... Right now... Sadly we might have to end this season finale. I guess we'll see you next time. Well, thank you so much for bringing a wonderful guest. A man who knows a lot about football and basketball. And... Not only knows a lot but plays very well. Thank you, Joey. You're welcome. Thank you for letting me do the podcast. Yeah. You're a very special guest. Yeah, a special guest for our season finale. And with that we close season one. Until next time. Until next time. I've had my share of bad kids in my bed But I don't care Because people go on, on, on, on And we are the champions, my friends
