Nothing to say, yet
Hello one and all. Welcome in to the Picnic Sports podcast where we analyze different sports newscasts from across the sports universe. I'm your host Nick Coco and today we are going to talk about Undisputed which is a show on Fox Sports 1 with anchors Skip Bayless, Keyshawn Johnson and moderator Paul Pierce. In terms of their physical appearance I think that might have been the most successful part of the entire newscast. They look very professional all three. We had one in all black, we had Keyshawn Johnson with some brighter colors and then Paul Pierce with a pink sport coat on that really popped on camera. Their chemistry I think is where they could use some work. So there was not a whole lot of upbeat and smiling going on during the show. They all seemed like you know they kind of would rather be anywhere else at times looking down while someone else is talking. I didn't feel like they would have been friends or hung out outside of the studio. I did not get that vibe at all and it just seemed a little bit disjointed and some of the stuff that they were talking about which was about the NBA playoffs this weekend that tipped off all the game ones had just played. They were kind of yelling at each other the whole time. I feel like it was a bit of a stressful watch for me who takes in a lot of sports content. I like to unwind with my news and stuff like that and I didn't feel like it was one I was going to go back to and watch another episode. So that I think fell short for sure. Their delivery was okay but I wanted them to talk a little bit more about the smaller market teams that played this weekend. There was a lot of focus on the Lakers playing the Nuggets and the Celtics and Heat and of course those are all bigger market teams and there was not a lot of focus on for instance the Thunder and Pelicans who played a really good game one went down to the final shot but the Thunder ended up winning. So I definitely thought they were catering to their audience and they know what gets the clicks in terms of the thumbnails and when they were arguing there was definitely a lot more back-and-forth when they were talking about LeBron and the Lakers when compared to some of the other series. I don't love that. Obviously I'm a sports fan that doesn't really care about who the markets are and I just want to see some good basketball and see people give every team a shot. So I think that fell short as well and their ad-libs were actually pretty funny. I think Johnson and Pierce kind of took some shots at Skip Bayless from time to time. I felt like that was their style and I think that works pretty well. They actually did seem real. I don't think Keyshawn or Paul Pierce like Skip Bayless that much which actually I think helped the comedic aspect. And finally I don't think it was worth watching but maybe it was just not my cup of tea in terms of what I'm looking for in a newscast. I think it was a little bit of a stressful watch like I alluded to earlier and I think there just could have been a little bit more positive energy that I would have liked to see from all three. Honestly I don't think it was one person in particular that brought the energy down and just not my cup of tea but I can see why some people would enjoy that type of content. And that is all I have for you guys today. Thank you so much for listening and we will be back next week on the Picnic Sports Podcast. I'm your host Nick Coppo signing off.
