The novel "Magic School Bus" has a weakness in that it may contain inaccurate information about science. Even though it is an educational book, it is also fiction, so it can portray things that are not real. For example, in the story, they show people holding onto red blood cells inside a person's body. As college students, we know this is not possible, but young children might believe it. It is important to be aware of this because children often misunderstand things. This misinformation could be taken literally by a child, even though we know it is not true. A weakness of this novel is that there could be some misinformation about science. Even though this is an educational novel, it's also fiction, which means that they can show some things that aren't real. Like for example, in the magic school bus inside the human body, when they are inside of Arnold, they show that there are people holding on to his red blood cells. As we analyze this as college students, we know in our minds that people can't actually be inside of us holding on to red blood cells. So since this is for grade levels 1st through 3rd, a young child, you know, age 6 in 1st grade, is vulnerable and gullible to different things. So they might actually believe that people can hold on to your red blood cells. And this is important to notice because young children often misinterpret things. So this could be information that could be taken differently by a child, and they might actually think that people can be inside of us holding on to our red blood cells, which we know as readers isn't true.
