In this video, John discusses the recent success of the New York Knicks. He talks about how the team performed last season and highlights the impressive play of Jalen Brunson. He also mentions other players like RJ Barrett and Emmanuel Quickly who have had a positive impact. John discusses the team's slow start this season but notes that they have improved since acquiring OG Anunoby. He believes the Knicks could potentially be a top four seed but does not think they will win a championship this year. John suggests that the team may need to make a trade to strengthen their roster. He concludes by asking viewers for their opinions on the Knicks' future success. Yo, what's good y'all? It's John. I'm back from Top Boss Central and in today's video we're gonna be going over the New York Knicks and how good they've been as of late. So I want to be starting off with talking about how the Knicks started the season and how good they currently are. So the Knicks last season ended it off in the uh being fifth in the Eastern Conference, which was one of the best seasons that they had in a long time. They was able to end their season off with a record of 47 and 35 and that was pretty solid and we got to see the play of Jalen Brunson and how he affected his offense. And going into that season everyone thought that Jalen Brunson was just way too much overpaid, which that didn't turn out to be the case because he's been putting up numbers and especially this season because currently he's putting up 26.5 a game and shooting 47.8% from the field and Brunson is just going off this season and he's definitely one of the best guards in the league as of right now, especially on the East and he's even a guy that really should have gotten started in the All-Star game, but Damian Lillard is now taking that spot. Honestly, just don't think nobody thought that Brunson would play this good whenever he came over to New York and this is one of the best signings that they've really ever made and it's just crazy that this man went from being one of the most claimed to be overpaid guys and now he's one of the most underpaid in terms of like today's NBA. But last season obviously Jalen Brunson was their best player and especially their best player in the playoffs because Randall really didn't show up, but Jalen Brunson was there and he definitely helped them have one of their best seasons last year that they had in a while. And also last year RJ Barrett was pretty solid all around but he was inconsistent at times and they also had Quentin Grimes who was a solid role player and they signed Josh Hart towards the middle of the season I believe and he showed up as like a decent role player as well. And also Emmanuel quickly took a big leap on this team as well to become second in voting for six man of the year and he was just a very great piece overall coming off of the bench and they did get rid of some guys as well such as like Tam Reddish who hasn't been good and Obie Toppin as well who's been great for the Pacers and also Mitchell Robinson was pretty solid as well is showing he could be a great rebounder for them. And now getting into the start of this season they weren't really off to that great of a start obviously. Julius Randall went off to one of the worst starts in league history, especially with his field goal percentage. He was just horrible at the beginning of the season, but he definitely has turned things around because at the beginning of the season and like the first few games, especially in the month of October when the season first started Julius Randall was only shooting 29.5% from the field and only knocking down 15 shots a game which is just horrible for this man, and he was just not efficient at all, but he's turning things around like I said scoring 24.1 points a game about nine rebounds as well and five assists shooting 47.3% from the field right now. But yeah, he was off to a bad start at the beginning of the season. The other guys was playing up to standards as well such as like as I already said Jalen Brunson. He's been hooping the entire season and they've had great play from other role players as well such as Quickly and RJ Barrett, but then they traded those guys away and now they just look like a team that is actually a contender because before this trade they really didn't look like they were in contention really at all. Maybe second round exits like, you know the same as last season but this team has definitely improved with this OG and an OB trade because obviously Emmanuel Quickly and RJ Barrett, you know were pretty solid pieces. They just needed that extra wing that could help them defend and we saw that last night against the Nuggets and we've seen it plenty of times ever since, you know, he's gotten traded to this team because whenever they acquired OG and an OB at the beginning of the year, they beat the Timberwolves in the first game that they got him which automatically showed because he got two steals, 17 points, six rebounds and just had a really good game to help impact to be able to beat the number one team in the east and since that game versus the Timberwolves to start the new year off they've only lost two games out of 12 which is very impressive for how this New York team was looking before that trade happened and you can just tell that this has very much impacted this team because they was losing to teams like the Atlanta Hawks, the Charlotte Hornets and just losing a lot in the month of December for sure. They was just nowhere near the team that we're seeing now and I could definitely see this team ending off kind of where they are right now at a top four seed for sure because I mean obviously the 76ers, Bucs and Celtics are just very tough to beat especially the Bucs and Sixers. The Knicks may have a chance of making the third seed, but that's it for my expectations to be honest and if this team is to make a trade before that deadline happens I think they could potentially go out to get maybe a second ball handler or just the overall playmaker and there is some speculation that the Knicks could possibly try to go out and get DeJounte Murray, but I definitely don't think that this team should even rush making a trade right now, especially with how good OG has been for them but they definitely could like maybe trade someone away such as like Quentin Grimes, for example because I mean he's been pretty inconsistent for this team like, you know play time wise and they could probably go out and get someone potentially along the lines of like Alec Burks or just a role player to kind of come off of the bench for them and just help them uh with their overall depth and I'd have to kind of look into the cap, you know space that they have and money available, especially for the rumors of Joel Embiid and Donovan Mitchell which I think Mitchell is honestly a bad fit for this team, especially with the cheaper version of him already you know here with Jalen Brunson and this team does have a pretty good supporting cast as well you know such as guys like Isaiah Hardenstein who's been a great backup for Mitchell Robinson because Mitchell Robinson is obviously going to be out for a while and has been out for a while he's just been playing great and also Dante DiVincenzo who I think was a great signing for them that they made he was just a terrific signing. He's putting up a little over 11 points a game right now it's just a solid role player to have on this team and also Preston Sachua, Preston Sachua came in with that OG and an OB trade and he's just been a solid big as well putting up over 10 rebounds in most of his games and this team is you know, pretty stacked with the center position that's why they're so good at getting rebounds and they're one of the top teams if not, I think they are the best team in the league at rebounding right now but yeah, I just wanted to say the Knicks do have a really good future and this good supporting cast as well and now I kind of want to talk about you know, the future and my expectations You know as a whole I kind of already went over some of my expectations But I just want to go over like the championship expectations And do I think they're going to win a championship? I don't think they're going to win a chip this year Unless they make a huge move out of nowhere, but with the roster that they have right now I don't think they're going to win a championship, especially with how stacked the east is right now Um, I could definitely see this team getting pretty close Like a little bit closer than last year, they're definitely a better overall team in my opinion But I just believe that they're just one piece off and one star off of being a championship team Uh, let me know down below in the comments what you guys think And how far do you guys think the new york knicks will go this season? And as always make sure to like and subscribe and turn on post notifications and i'll see you on the next one. I'm out
