Peter and John encountered a lame man at the temple and healed him in the name of Jesus. This was an immediate and miraculous healing, unlike the progressive healings we often see today. The apostles did not have material wealth but offered the Gospel instead. We should focus on lifting up the name of Jesus and trust that God still heals today. The Bible applies to us today and God is unchanging. If we believe, all things are possible. We are in Acts chapter 3 verses 1 through 9, this is titled, A Lame Man Walks. In this section of scripture we see that Peter and John were going into the temple to pray, they continue to go into the temple. When I was a young man, when I was the minister, we used to go to the county jail to meet people where they were at, or we would go out on the street and hand out tracts, we would meet people where they were at. But I'll tell you the best place where you can meet people over there is wherever you live, in your home, in your workplace, that's where we need to meet where people are at. So Peter and John were going into the temple to pray at the hour of prayer and they met this lame man who had been lame from birth. Everybody knew this man because he was sat there at this gate every single day and he was begging for money. Everybody knew who he was, Peter and John evidently knew who he was, told him we don't have any silver or gold, but such as we have, we give to you in the name of Jesus Christ be healed. And so the man was instantly healed. So we have here a miracle healing, this was instant, immediate, with no doubts about it. This was not a progressive healing, this was immediately, this man was healed. You know, this is something that I think that we need to remember in today's world, that God does heal today, if we can believe. Notice here that Peter and John did not have any silver and gold, and this stands in stark contrast to what we see today. A lot of preachers that you see today flaunt wealth and health and prosperity. This is not something that the apostles did. Peter says silver and gold have I none, but such as I have, I give unto you. So they lived a different lifestyle. And we need to consider whether or not what we see today is biblical. Let's go back to the Bible and see how people lived then. Peter and John said, we don't have any money, but we offer you the Lord Jesus, we offer you the gospel of Jesus Christ. And so I think that's what we need to do today. We don't, we don't need to focus on covetousness and idolatry, but instead we need to focus upon lifting up the name of Jesus. And I think we'll be amazed at what God can do if we lift up the name of Jesus. This man was healed immediately. This was a miracle healing. I do believe that God still heals people today. A lot of people try to pick and choose from the Bible what they think applies for us today. But I believe if it's in the Bible, it's for us today. If you see it in the Bible, then it's for us today. God still heals. The Bible says that God is the same yesterday and today and forever. He does not change. He still, he still heals. He still answers prayers. He still intervenes in our life today. Does God heal today? If you can believe, all things are possible to him that believes. Amen. The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine upon you.
