The speaker, Gila Miona, discusses the importance of asking God for the Holy Spirit and how it aids in spiritual growth. They emphasize that the Holy Spirit assists, encourages, defends, guides, and enlightens believers. The speaker mentions that the Holy Spirit is given to those who ask for it and that Jesus himself encouraged his disciples to ask God for the Holy Spirit. They explain that the Holy Spirit is the same spirit received at conversion and that believers should continue to ask for spiritual growth and an increase in the power of the Holy Spirit. The speaker highlights the importance of using the gifts of the Holy Spirit to spread the gospel and warns against complacency, urging believers to seek continuous growth and increase in the power of the Holy Spirit. They conclude by encouraging listeners to ask God to increase His power in them for good works. Music Welcome to Christian Carrier Music Thank you for joining me Music Thank you for your precious time Music My name is Gila Miona Music Servant of God Music Servant of Jesus Christ Music What does it mean to say The Holy Spirit is given to them that ask Music The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God God has made him to dwell in us By the hearing of faith We received the Holy Spirit by the good will of God When we believed He is in you He is in me The Holy Spirit assists us Encourages us Defends us Guides us And enlightens us If it is true that we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit When we believe in Jesus And that the Holy Spirit dwells in us Which I believe Why did Jesus still call his disciples To ask God to give them the Holy Spirit What does it mean to say The Holy Spirit is given to them that ask Music Before Jesus ascended to heaven He promised his disciples That he would soon send down the Holy Spirit to help them Later on The Apostle Peter Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit Testified that the promised gift of the dwelling Holy Spirit Is to you and to your children And to all who are far off As many as the Lord our God shall call Acts chapter 2 verse 39 This is to say that Whosoever responds to the call of God Shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit I am a living example You are as well We are thousands of men and women Who have responded to Jesus' call And who have received the gift of the Holy Spirit Isn't it? If we all agree Then why should we still ask what we already have Because I don't doubt the gift of the Holy Spirit that I have received First What we need to know is that The ultimate goal for which Jesus gives us the Holy Spirit Is so that we practice our Christian witness in public view And use every opportunity possible to spread the gospel You know He who is faithful in using his gifts Can expect to have more Otherwise Whosoever keeps them for himself Runs the risk of losing everything I tell you, said Jesus Whoever has will be given more And they will have an abundance Whoever does not have Even what they have Will be taken from them It is into this context that Jesus said to his disciples If ye then, being evil Know how to give good gifts unto your children How much more shall your heavenly father Give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? In this verse The Lord Jesus doesn't mean that the Holy Spirit we receive at conversion Is different from the Holy Spirit he is calling us to ask God It is the same Spirit Didn't the Apostle Paul say There is one Jesus One Spirit In one gospel 2 Corinthians 11 Verse 4 In Luke 11 Verse 13 Jesus urges us to ask God to increase his presence in us When the presence of God is permanent in us We will be filled with his Spirit The Spirit-filled Christian has learned to ask God to fill him with the Holy Spirit We are filled with the Holy Spirit When we have the righteousness of God The righteousness of God Is the expression of all that God asks and approves It is absolutely manifested in Christ himself When we have the righteousness of God When we have the righteousness of God When we have the righteousness of God It is absolutely manifested in Christ himself Who satisfies all the requirements of the law In fact It is by separating ourselves from evil It is by unconditionally submitting our life to the law That he will be able to fill us with the Spirit With the Holy Spirit Get this Believers must be in the habit of asking for spiritual things And the Holy Spirit is part of what we can ask God One thing is certain The gift of the Holy Spirit Or the power of God in us Is not predestined by God What I am saying is that The Spirit of God within us can grow It is not static The believer can grow in power He can grow in faith But without faith there is no growth possible In the book of Acts chapter 9 verse 22 We read that Paul's power was increasing This means that the power of the Apostle Paul in the beginning Was low intensity at first Like any believer But gradually His power grew stronger His capacity increased by faith Hallelujah Let's step back a little And look at what Jesus is calling us to do The idea expressed by Jesus in Luke chapter 11 verse 13 is this All believers entail spiritual life equally Gentile believers and Jewish believers have received The same gift of the Holy Spirit A life equal value God being a God of justice Has treated every believer equally By gifting them with the same Holy Spirit Isn't it? When we receive Jesus as Lord and Savior We receive the same Gospel The same Holy Spirit The same life in Christ Do you agree with this opinion? It is the Christian life at its beginning As described in the parable of the miner Where the master Before traveling Gave each of his ten servants A miner Only one miner Luke 19 verse 11 to 27 Thereafter Some servants will have two talents in their hand Others will have five talents Or even ten talents That's what the parable of the talents is about This parable concerns the Christian life At a more advanced stage Where the talent of some has multiplied Matthew chapter 27 verse 14 to 30 You see At the beginning of the Christian life Everyone received the same Holy Spirit Like I said But in the end All believers will no longer have The same strength of the Holy Spirit In order to see your gifts of the Holy Spirit increase You have to live according to the will of God It is the same idea expressed by the apostle Peter He says As newborn babies Desire the sincere milk of the world That ye may grow Thereby 1 Peter chapter 2 verse 2 The main idea is to grow spiritually Hallelujah This means that Spiritually Some will mature more than others Not wanting us to remain spiritually babies forever Our Lord Jesus urges us to ask God to grow us spiritually This is possible Only on the condition of totally surrounding our body Our soul And our spirit to God This will depend on the type of response demonstrated by the believer Hallelujah Furthermore In 2 Timothy chapter 1 verse 6 The apostle Paul said to Timothy For this reason I remind you to fall into flame the gift of God Which is in you Through the lying arm of my hand It is undoubtedly the gift of the Holy Spirit of which Paul speaks In fact Timothy received a gift from God And it seemed that he did not use it properly The apostle Paul then felt the need to tell him Rekindle the gift of God, Timothy Rekindle the flame that God has kindled within you Notice this Even the gift of God sometimes needs to be rekindled That's why Paul was appealing Timothy for royalty Today Many Christians are in the same situation They have received the Holy Spirit But they are shy They are timid Their gift of the Holy Spirit is almost extinguished Conclusion The key point we see in this message is that By giving everyone the gift of the Holy Spirit God expects every believer to grow in power This is why Jesus told his disciples that Whosoever asks God for the Holy Spirit It will be given to him Let's be reassured that Jesus is not asking us to ask for another spirit Different from the Holy Spirit we receive at conversion He is just urging us to be in a state of mind That allows the Spirit of God to grow in us If the apostle Peter The apostle Paul Stephen and others were able to see the glory of God And confront the opposition of the enemy to the works of God It is because they are filled with the Holy Spirit It is because the power of God increases in them And the condition for that to happen is to submit our lives Completely to the sovereignty of God In Philippians chapter 4 verse 13 Paul wrote I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me It was God who strengthened Paul to enable him to accomplish all things It is God who will increase your strength as well If you dispose yourself by more acts of faith Dear friend Let us be perfectly clear It is only the believers who agree to do the will of God That will be called spiritual giants Because the grace of God flows through them But those who are content with the gifts of the Holy Spirit they receive at conversion Will be called spiritual dwarfs Because they have never grown up Now what should we understand from this message? Well, God in giving us the Holy Spirit He was expecting us to use it Because it is by using it that the power of God will increase in us for good works This is why Jesus urges us to ask God for the Holy Spirit You know, to ask for the Holy Spirit is to ask God to increase His power in us The consequence of all this is that When we are content simply to keep the Holy Spirit intact the way we receive Him Without wishing to be filled with Him At the judgment day We should not expect to have God's approval Friend, I encourage you to ask God to increase His power in you And you shall receive that your joy may be fulfilled Praise the Lord I do hope you enjoy this message And will do your best so that God could increase His power in you May God bless your understanding See you next Sunday God willing for more blessings Shalom Shalom Shalom
