Sin is described as a debt that we owe to God. Even if we are forgiven, the damage caused by sin still needs to be restored. Jesus gave his life as a ransom to restore this damage. Debt can also affect our daily lives, just as mismanaged credit can cause problems. Debt can lead to mental health issues and spiritual debt can lead to eternal destruction. We need to face our debts and deal with them instead of ignoring them. Ignoring our spiritual debts will not make our poor spiritual condition go away. Only Jesus can pay off our debts and save us. We are commissioned to spread the message that the debt of sin can be paid off through Jesus Christ. 🎼🎢🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡 🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡 🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡 🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡 🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡 🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡 Even if that person forgives me, which is good, I must recognize that the owner is going to pay for the damage. Because the fact that he forgives me will not restore the loss. So there is a debt to pay, there is a cost to cover. And that's exactly what Jesus does for those who remain burdened with debt and who trust Him. Sin is not something that we can free ourselves from. You cannot pay that debt off. Our sin to God is a debt that we can never pay off ourselves. Now, we must know that the debt of sin, if I may call it so, is like a large amount of money no one can fully repay, even if he was given multiple lives. This is why Jesus had to give His life as a ransom. He expressed this desire in His first three months to deliver us from our bond of sin. Remember on that Sabbath day, Jesus went into the synagogue and stood up to read the book of the prophet Isaiah. Isaiah chapter 61. This took place in Nazareth. Jesus says in Luke chapter 4 verse 18, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and the recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. He then continued in verse 19 saying this, To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord. Jesus said this, The Spirit of God is upon me to bring the gospel to the poor, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord. We should understand that the favorable year of the Lord is also called the year of Jubilee. What is then the year of Jubilee? Well, it is a year of grace. It is the day when salvation and the favor of God abound greatly. In fact, the year of Jubilee or the favorable year was proclaimed every 50 years in Israel. It was a year of grace in which celebration occurred only once in a person's life. In that year, anyone who having built up substantial debt was released from their obligation to repay that money. The poor who lived under the constraint of their debt were automatically freed from their obligation. All those who had to sell themselves into slavery for lack of money thus regained their freedom in this year of grace. It was definitely a time for healing brokenhearted. Under these conditions, it is not difficult to imagine all the joy that the poor of the country could feel when the year of Jubilee arrived. This year of freedom symbolizes the coming of the kingdom of God the prophet Isaiah has prophesied and which you and I have experienced with Jesus Christ. We understand then why sin is spoken of as a debt that we owe God. Friends, if we transpose this reality of spiritual debt into our daily lives, we discover quickly to what degree sin oppresses us. Let's recognize that we are living in a world in which it is very difficult to acquire certain goods without going through the credit system. The truth is that people want things they can't pay for all at once and credit makes it possible to obtain them. Many items from cars to houses are too expensive for most people to pay for all at once. With credit, it is possible to pay over time while accessing essential products and services when you need them, right? That's why credit is important, praise the Lord. But mismanaged credit can become a major problem and may restrict the quality of our lives. Listen, when we are in debt, there are certain advantages that we can no longer benefit from. For example, lenders or financial institutions may refuse you credit or charge you a higher interest rate. On the other side, insurance companies may charge you more for insurance. Furthermore, landlords may refuse to rent to you or charge you more for rent. Even employers may not hire you. The consequence of this is that life will get much more difficult for you and this situation can be unmanageable and affect the depth of moral and health. The truth is that death is a strong link between death and poor mental health. People with debt are more likely to face common mental health issues such as prolonged stress, depression, and anxiety. So, like debt can lead to emotional health problems, spiritual debt can cause eternal destruction of souls as well, praise the Lord. Let's conclude this message. Considering what Jesus said in Luke chapter 4 and from the above example we gave, we can safely say that sin is a spiritual debt that we owe God. You know, it doesn't cost God anything to forgive us our sins. But the thing is that the damage we cause by committing sin has to be restored. It has to be restored. Forgiveness by itself would not restore it. So, it was necessary that Jesus gave his life for restoration to be possible. Friend, we need to face our debts and deal with them instead of ignoring them. For, ignoring your debts won't make it go away and could even make the problem worse, especially if it leads to late payments or continued overspending. It's the same for sin. You know, by ignoring your spiritual debts, your sin will not make your poor spiritual condition go away. You necessarily need to think seriously about relieving the debt of your sin by accepting the offer of salvation. Because only Jesus can pay off your debts and save you. Now, to make the world know that the debt of sin can be paid off, Jesus has commissioned us to go and announce that we are living in a favorable year, the year of Jubilee, where every trace of sin may be completely blotted out, while whatever promotes eternal life through Jesus Christ may be zealously fostered and strengthened. Well, that was all for today. I hope you enjoyed this message and have taken your part from it. Please, see me again next week. God willing, for more. Shalom.
