How do we recognize that we have sinned against the Holy Spirit Y

Thank you for your precious time. My name is Dilan Yonah. Servant of God. Servant of Jesus Christ. In Matthew chapter 12, verse 31 to 32, it is written, Every sin and blasphemy against the Son of Man, Jesus Christ, will be forgiven. But the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, neither in this age, nor in the age to come. Our question is, how do we recognize that we have sinned against the Holy Spirit? The coming of the Lord Jesus to earth rekindled humanity's goal, who is sentenced to death because of sin. Jesus promised man forgiveness of all sin and blasphemy. But in Matthew chapter 12, verse 31, we learn that there is a kind of sin that cannot be forgiven. It is called by Jesus, the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. For this, there is no forgiveness. What is the meaning of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit? And how do we recognize that we have sinned against the Holy Spirit? Praise the Lord. Like we were announcing it above, the Lord Jesus teaches that all sin and blasphemy will be forgiven to man. However, he points out that blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. How do we recognize that we have sinned against the Holy Spirit? First, I want to make sure that we understand what blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is defined by the action of speaking against the Holy Spirit. By doing so, we insult the person of the Holy Spirit. Now, let us put it this way. How is it that you can speak against the Son of Man, against Jesus, and still be forgiven, but you cannot expect the same forgiveness when you sin against the Holy Spirit? On what basis can we make such a distinction? Don't you find that puzzling? When you speak against Jesus, the Son of Man, are you not speaking against God? And if you are speaking against God, are you not speaking against the Holy Spirit as well? You know, I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that there is one Lord, Ephesians chapter 4 verse 5, one Spirit, Ephesians chapter 4 verse 4, and one Savior. All three are one. Jesus Christ is the Lord and the only one just because He died for our sins, came back to life, and is living at the right side of His Father. Friend, may no one come to you with a fine-sounding argument telling you that the Holy Spirit and Jesus are two different persons. Do not let yourself be fooled. These malicious spirits will even use Matthew chapter 12 verse 31 and 32 to explain their reasoning, to convince you that, hey, look, Jesus Himself said it. You know, the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God. It is God. And what the Spirit of God does is what God does. Praise the Lord. Furthermore, Jesus Christ is God in flesh. I and my Father are one, said Jesus in John chapter 10 verse 30. So, when we say that Jesus Christ was incarnate, it implies that He existed before. He is God. John chapter 6 verse 62. Remember, following the lie of Ananias and Sapphira, did not the Apostle Peter affirm that lying to the Holy Spirit is lying to God? Acts chapter 5 verse 3 to 4. So, how can we explain the great difference between blasphemy against Jesus, the Son of Man, and blasphemy against the Holy Spirit? Isn't the degree of capability the same in both cases? Listen, if God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are one and the same person, if blasphemy against Jesus is forgivable and blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is not forgivable, then we must look elsewhere for the meaning of this declaration. You can see by yourself that one cannot sin against the Holy Spirit without sinning against Jesus or God. Because any sin that we commit, we commit that against God, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit. Indeed, sin against the Holy Spirit is any sin committed willfully against God or Jesus, and the essential element to consider is the manner in which the sin is committed, that is, willfully or unintentionally. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is an unforgivable sin because it is the deliberate and persistent resistance to the testimony of conscience to the point of definitely hindering the action of the Holy Spirit. This means that it is defiantly committed. On the other hand, blasphemy against Jesus Christ would be forgiven because it is simply a sin committed out of ignorance or omission. The Apostle Paul teaches us that he who sins with true ignorance is not truly aware of the requirements of the law and lives free from conviction of sin. You know, some people, through their ignorance of the true identity of Christ, may have insulted the Lord. But a sin committed out of ignorance is forgivable. That's what our Lord Jesus said. Any sin against Jesus, even that of crucifying Him on the cross, can be forgiven. It is important to observe this point carefully. Remember, at the cross, the Lord Jesus addresses His Father, saying, Forgive them, for they know not what they are doing. Luke chapter 23 verse 34. The people who put Jesus to death did not know that He was the promised Savior. If they knew, they wouldn't have insulted Him. They wouldn't have said, You said you were going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days. Well, then, if you are the Son of God, save yourself and come down from the cross. See, that's why Jesus said, Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. This is blasphemy against Jesus. This blasphemy is called the sin of ignorance. Hallelujah. In addition, the Apostle Paul says in 1 Timothy chapter 1 verse 13 that he was very guilty of speaking against the Lord Jesus at some point in his life. He says, Though I formerly blasphemed and persecuted and insulted Him, but I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief. Yeah, we can see that the Apostle Paul confesses three sins. He blasphemed, he persecuted, and he insulted Jesus. Although he was guilty of all those sins, he was forgiven, right? Why? Well, because he acted ignorantly in unbelief. Ignorance and unbelief were no excuse for what Paul did. In fact, they were among the reasons why God could have mercy on him. Blasphemy against Jesus is sinning through ignorance. We can see that all those who blaspheme against Jesus have a sleeping conscience that does not reproach them for anything. They live free from any conviction of sin. When the chief priests, the teachers of the law, and the elders blasphemed against Jesus by ignorance, their conscience was asleep. We understand why Paul says that in the absence of the law, sin cannot be punished. Romans chapter 7 verse 8. On the other hand, sin against the Holy Spirit cannot be committed out of ignorance. Why not? Well, because one cannot have willfully decided to do evil and at the same time do evil out of ignorance. Our Lord Jesus says, But whoever shall speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him either in this age or in the age to come. Matthew chapter 12 verse 32. This means that any sin that we have carefully thought out, planned and committed in good conscience is an eternal sin because it is willfully committed. This severe warning reminds us of what the author to Hebrews tells us in Hebrews chapter 10 verse 26 to 29. There it is written, For, if we sin willfully, after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. What this person is telling us is this. There won't be a second beginning for anyone who comes to Christ, but then go back to what he has previously rejected, that is, his own sinful course of life. That's what willful sin is about. And that's what blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is about. Hallelujah. Praise the Lord. Conclusion. In this message, we were answering to the question, how do we recognize that we have sinned against the Holy Spirit? We say that we sin against the Holy Spirit when we sin willfully. Blasphemy against Jesus is blasphemy by ignorance. You know, in the absence of conscience, sin cannot be punished, says the apostle Paul. How can you break the law if you don't know the law? This is why blasphemy against Jesus is forgivable. Paul continues and says that sin is not imputed when there is no law. Romans chapter 5 verse 13. When one does evil out of ignorance, sin remains latent in that person. We say that by naming his own sins, 1 Timothy chapter 1 verse 13, the apostle Paul showed that he was not a stubborn sinner. He did not sin against the Holy Spirit, even if one could describe his behavior as barbaric. You see, his heart has never stopped being open to God. The apostle Paul did not know that Jesus was the Christ. By persecuting Christians, he sincerely thought he was doing God a service. He truly believed that the Christian faith was opposed to the Jehovah of the Old Testament. Finally, we said also that the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is the blasphemy against God and against Jesus Christ as well. God and the Holy Spirit are the same person. We understand why it is written, Blasphemy to the Lord and must be cut off from the people of Israel. Numbers chapter 15 verse 30. Fine, this is my way of life. I am a Christian. I am a Christian. I am a Christian. I am a Christian. Fine, this is my way for you. Let's not forget, even if blasphemy against Jesus is forgivable, you have to ask God for forgiveness to receive it.
