Some might be asking, what does an interventionist do? An interventionist is a person dedicated to mathematical assistance, responsible for supporting student achievement in the area of mathematics with special attention to Tier 2 and Tier 3 instruction. The interventionist provides individual or small group instruction to students who need some additional support in math. You might be thinking, what does that mean? If you ever find yourself still stuck after asking your core math teacher to explain something or to re-show you how a new concept works, you might benefit from additional one-on-one support with me. You might only need a little bit of assistance or you might need a lot of assistance. I'm happy to offer the amount of assistance you need to be successful in math. You might be a student that's afraid to ask for help. That's okay. I was afraid to ask for help, but I had a teacher that helped me to learn how to ask for the help I needed. Unfortunately for me, it was not until I was in high school. I don't want that to happen to any of you. I have some students that are only in my room with a few questions and then they are able to continue working on their own. I have other students that ask questions often and need reassurance that they are on the right track. I have students that are just stuck. They have no idea where to even start to work the problem. Maybe you find yourself angry because you don't understand something and you get discouraged and you want to just give up. It is okay to get angry or discouraged. You just might need a little additional support, an additional support person to help you believe in yourself. When can you come for assistance? Before school during zero hour, during advisory with the permission from your advisory teacher, during math class time after notes are given, and it is work time as long as you have the permission of your core math teacher. Please note you might see me down in ISS the first hour of every day. I go down and work the students in ISS on their math every day. So I hope that I don't find you there working, but if you do, I will come and visit you about your math and I am always happy to assist or help you with your math assignments. Students are also able to email me questions about their math that they don't understand. I work with many students throughout the school year by email. How to reach me by email? My email address is mcaramer4dosage.edu. I will also be offering tutoring after school. More information regarding my tutoring hours will be provided soon. I am in room 220. My door is always open and you are always welcome to come and see me for any math support you might need.
