Vanessa Stevenson discusses Immanuel Kant, a philosopher who believes human action is based on obligation and duty. Kant's work on thinking and ethics has influenced other philosophers. Three key facts about Kant's theory: 1) It focuses on what we can experience in daily life and what we can't, like the concept of God. 2) Rationality is universal, meaning different actions can lead to different outcomes for different individuals. 3) Moral judgment should be based on reason, not solely on the action itself. Vanessa chose Kant because she found him interesting and felt a connection. Kant's influence can be seen in the healthcare field, where oncology nurses treat all patients with the same humanity. Hi, my name is Vanessa Stevenson. I have chosen to write about Immanuel Kant, who is a philosopher that believes that human action is based on obligation and duty. A fun fact is his work in the theory of thinking and ethics had influenced other philosophers, so I thought that was pretty cool. Three facts about his theory. The first one, it emphasized on what we can experience, which is like what we experience day to day, and then what we cannot, so like explaining, I guess, God in a sense. We can't really go far with that. The next one is rationality is universal, which means just because one person did this action and then they got this consequence, that doesn't mean that the next person will have the same outcome. The last one, as long as mortality is derived from reason, there should be a fair objective. So just because there's a moral for something does not mean it's bad. The reason why I chose to do Immanuel is I thought he was very interesting. When I read about him, I don't know, it just seemed like, wow, he's really interesting. And I just felt a connection somewhere. So an example that I would like to share is he had influenced a lot in the in the healthcare field. For an example, I had found that there was a lot of examples for oncology nurses. One of them being they have to pretty much act the same way as they would treat humanity. It doesn't matter that if it's to Sally Sue or to Sally Sue's family, as long as they treat her the same way, whether it's in the room.
