Logan Phillips is planning to host an interview-style podcast with three coworkers who also happen to be his friends. They all work in the alcohol industry, specifically at Left Hand Brewing in Lamont, Colorado. The podcast aims to shed light on what it's like working in this industry, addressing topics such as the joys and frustrations of the job, misconceptions, differences between being a beer tender and a bartender, and the impact of working at Left Hand on their lives. They also want to discuss how to treat and order from bartenders, as well as the issue of alcoholism in the industry. The podcast will end on a lighthearted note with some entertaining stories. Logan encourages listeners to leave comments and suggestions for specific stories or topics they would like to hear. Hey there, guys. Hope you all are doing well. My name is Logan Phillips, and this is a slight form of my rough draft for the podcast. So to start off, this is not going to be the true style. I'm going to be doing an interview for my podcast. I will be having three of my coworkers over, whom are my friends as well. So we work in the alcohol industry. I work for a brewery called Left Hand Brewing in Lamont, Colorado. Super fun. I've worked in this industry for a very long time. We are going to talk about just what our life is like working in this industry. And a big reason why I wanted to do that is because I just felt if you've worked in the industry, you're going to really enjoy this. The conversations and topics we're going to talk about are certainly going to be things that you have personally dealt with in the past with this job. And if you haven't worked in this industry, then it just gives you a chance to kind of get a behind-the-scenes look at what we deal with, what your servers or bartenders are dealing with when you go out to eat. We all go out to eat. We all deal with this on one side or the other. And I just kind of want to create a little bit more of an awareness of kind of the service industry and mainly more focused on the alcohol part of it. So mine's going to be slightly interview style, kind of more open. So these are kind of like the topics that we will be talking about. So we're going to start off with, you know, what is it like working in the alcohol industry? Obviously, people kind of have an idea of what that is. But at the end of the day, when you're dealing with it on a nightly basis, when it is your source of income, it's a bit of a different world. So also, you know, what do you love the most about your job and what makes you continue? There's a reason we've continued working in this industry for so long. I am 27, so I'm not super old, but I've been in this industry for about 10 years now or so. So there's a reason that I do continue on, and Left Hand has played a big part in that. But also, you know, coming down to what are your frustrations with being a bartender? We all have frustrations with our job, and as a bartender, it can get a little frustrating dealing with intoxicated clients, customers that are screaming at you, all that jazz. But then we're also going to talk about, you know, misconceptions about our specific job. We do work at a brewery, so we do deal with a lot of people that don't understand that we don't serve alcohol. They don't understand that it is just beer, and when they get angry about that, they make it our fault. So just little stuff like that. And you know, what are the differences between being a beer tender and a bartender? This was something that I really didn't understand until I got into the beer industry. We're going to talk about stuff like I have my Cicerone certification, as do all my other coworkers. That is basically a certificate that says, you know, hey, you are a certified beer server, which means that I know far more about beer than the average person does. Little stuff like that. So we're also going to talk about, you know, how much has working at Left Hand changed our life? Left Hand is an awesome company who has helped me personally through a lot of issues in my life. So we're very thankful for that, and definitely going to be conversations that we're going to get into. And also just, you know, we're going to talk about what we want people to know about how to treat or order from your bartender. My goal is to really kind of create an enlightening for people that haven't worked in this industry and hopefully kind of get a better idea of how they can treat their bartender or server, you know, going into the future. And then the last topic that I really want to talk about and we're going to hone in on is the alcoholism in our industry. It's something that I think we all need to really understand, get better at understanding, and create a potential opportunity to fix certain things. You know, like I said, I've worked in this industry for 10 years. I sadly come from a family of alcoholics, and it's certainly on my brain. And I think about it a lot when I'm at work, and there are certain customers that come in every single day. And it's tough. You know, they can't go to day without drinking beer or some form of alcohol. And that's a topic that I really would like to get into and discuss more and more. And then to top things off, we're going to finish with some fun, crazy stories, because who doesn't love hearing some funny stories about being behind the bar? You know, we've all got our fair share. I'm sure even if you don't work in the industry, you've had your fair share at the bar, haven't won too many. So, you know, I think it'll be fun to finish off with some fun stories. You know, create a lighthearted factor at the very end. So if anyone wants to hear anything specific, please leave a comment. Please let me know. I really want to do this for you guys so you guys can get an idea of what we go through. I want to kind of create a better idea of what your bartenders deal with on a daily basis. So if there's any stories, anything specific you guys want to hear, please, please let me know. I want to do that for you guys. I'm so looking forward to having my friends over and having this conversation. So we'll see what happens with it. Thank you, guys.
