Abortion has been a major issue in Texas since it was made illegal in 2022. 78% of Texas voters believe it should be allowed as it is seen as healthcare. Many women support the right to make decisions about reproductive health and access safe and legal abortion services. However, unsafe and illegal abortions have increased as a result. The Texas government banned abortion due to the high number of procedures being performed. Republicans in Texas have long been against abortion and saw the ban as an opportunity to prevent constitutional challenges. This has sparked a national debate on individual liberties, government intervention, and reproductive health. The future of abortion rights in the US is still uncertain. Hello and welcome to an interesting conversation, well you will just hear me talk to myself but not about any irrelevant topic. Anyways, thank you all for joining. I will be discussing about abortion and taxes. To jump right in, we all know abortion used to be legal until 2022 here in Texas is when it all started to change. Abortion has been a big deal ever since they banned it. There has been non-stop protest and upset Texans ever since the government decided to pass the law of making abortion illegal. But you may ask, how many Texans? According to a recent University of Texas at Austin poll published by the Texas Tribune, 78%. Yes, we heard that right. More than half of Texas voters believe abortion should be allowed in a way since the majority see it as a health care. And the other 22% are completely against it. Many of these Texans are women that are standing up for their own rights and health. There are several reasons why women in Texas consider abortion as a basic woman's right and a part of care provision. To start with, they support a woman's right and ability to make informed decisions about matters concerning reproductive health. Many claim that it is important for women to have access to safe and legal abortion services. In addition, these individuals understand that limitations imposed on abortion impact minority groups and people who have no access to holistic health care services. I would also like to discuss what this has led to. Unfortunately, it has led to many unsafe and illegal abortions to increase over time in Texas. According to a study by the National Library of Medicine, it gives us the worldwide amount of women around 68,000 die of unsafe abortions annually. And some suffer with long-term health complications. All in all, the Texas government still has their strong reasons on why they banned abortion. One of these reasons is the big amount of numbers of abortions that would occur. Around 50,000 to 55 Texans obtained abortions each year from 2014 to 2021. Before those years, more than 60,000 abortions were obtained yearly. These totals represent only legal conducted abortions back then within the state of Texas and do not encompass individuals who obtained abortions outside the state or acquired abortions including medication without a prescription. There are several reasons why Texans lawmakers passed the abortion ban. Additionally, Texas is a conservative state with Republican-controlled legislature and governor. Republicans have been long opposed to abortion and they were eager to ban these procedures as soon as the Supreme Court gave them the opportunity. As well to prevent constitutional challenges. The abortion ban in Texas served as a catalyst for a national dialogue on the balance between individual liberties, government intervention, and the evolving dynamics of reproductive health. Abortion has inspired many to become more engaged in the political process ensuring their voices were heard, either if that's against it or they support it. As the country grappled with these issues, it was evident that the conversation was far from over and the future of abortion rights in the United States remained a topic of fierce debate and ongoing change to this day. Well, that is all that I have for today. Thanks for joining the time to listen. Y'all have a good day.
