The Last Down podcast discusses various topics including the injury of Jackson Smith-Njigba, Sam Howell's performance, standout performances by tight ends in preseason, concerns about Tua Tagovailoa, and the underperformance of Mac Jones. They also mention Kenny Pickett's impressive preseason performance. all right all right three two one welcome everybody to the episode seven of the last down podcast and you said seven seventeen you said seven oh all right welcome everyone to the episode 17 of the last down podcast I'm your boy look all right restart restart welcome to the episode 17 of the last down podcast I'm your boy Lopez your boy Anguiano we got a lot of coverage this week we got a lot of cover from last week there's a lot of significant news a lot of injuries but more specifically a lot of preseason going on right now and so I want to start it off with one preseason news that was like kind of significant in the realm of fantasy and that's the injury of Jackson Smith in the jukebox yeah I mean JSN getting hurt is a big deal for fantasy but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't seem like it's too serious so maybe he'll be back personally I think he's still gonna miss a game or two they say he might be back week one but I just feel like maybe one or two weeks because week one against us they don't need him to beat us you know my rounds they don't need him so I just feel like they might see him a week or two what's your what's your thoughts yeah so it's a it's a wrist injury which is something that he went under the knife he got surgery and he's going to be out for at least a month which means that his first week it's going to be jeopardized it's better to get a rip get get rid of the issue right away before it lingers and it's something to watch for definitely because a wrist injury is the worst injury a wide receiver can get man it really is no I agree because I mean if you think about it you know you need your hands to catch obviously so obviously it's going to be a big deal but I find it interesting because he got hurt he got hurt when he made the big play against Dallas that Saturday game and that's when you know the doctors went to him and started looking at his wrist but overall you know hopefully it doesn't turn to like Ohio State where he kind of was a little injury prone and because that would suck for the Seahawks that would suck for Geno that would suck for everyone in their revolt and it would suck for me because I just drafted him in Fantasy. You did? Yeah. What round? I think I drafted him in the 7th round so yeah it's losing Jackson and if Jackson Smith the Dreamer doesn't come back soon I'll be crying but anyways on to the next topic I want to highlight one of the main performers of Fantasy and it's a guy that I give my cap I gave a tip of the cap to and that's Sam Howell because last week we discussed how he won the starting job but we didn't see we didn't see how good he was this Monday against the Ravens he had he was 19 for 25 yes 19 for 25 188 yards for two touchdowns in one half and you know obviously this is still preseason but I do think Sam Howell is their better quarterback one of the best quarterbacks for them in the last few years and I think he's their franchise guy I mean I know we haven't seen enough but I just see I see poise I see someone that's mobile I see someone that for sure has arm talent he for sure has arm talent yeah it's just all gonna come down to accuracy and can he really do it in big moments yeah no no yeah seriously Sam Howell in college was really decent he was pretty good and he was hyped to be a first-round pick for yeah yeah yeah so I mean him showing the talent shouldn't be too surprising but if he has the good offensive line if he keeps having those weapons and McLaurin Dotson Samuel he can easily be a top 15 quarterback in this league and easily can be a riser he could be asleep he's a sleeper in my opinion he's a little bit of a sleeper I guess I can see him at best being a low-end QB to fantasy but I I do see for sure potential there and I think especially with Eric the enemy as the OC the commanders could for sure party scheme of some things that are very creative because if I'm being honest Mahomes if he like Mahomes when I thought about Eric the enemy and Mahomes it's like Mahomes was really different because he just was so creative I feel like that's what separates him from most quarterbacks just his creativity yeah and I mean obviously he has a lot of ability a lot of arm talent but it's creativity and I would maybe maybe something that was the enemy and if he brings that to Sam Howell then he might be near Mahomes level at one point yeah I mean that's a really bold take but I do get get your philosophy you know having you know the intellect of Eric the enemy he will bring out the best out of Sam Howell and obviously give him tips you know being one obviously one of the best quarterbacks in the league he's gonna try to you know teach him teach him and you know obviously get him better to a better situation than he was last year is there any other performers high performers you want to discuss well actually before we go on to the next performer I just want to say because of Sam Howell I'll say that's the reason why the Ravens not no longer had their preseason win streak I don't know if you remember yeah they've snapped it but there's a few other performers from last week I just want to first thing point out you know Diana Jones and Darren Waller against the Panthers specifically that was very interesting because he just targeted him like crazy and just and also I want to talk about Josh Allen and Dalton Kincaid because he also targeted him like three or four times in their like two drives and they both Waller and Kincaid produced so maybe maybe tight end in fantasy specifically might not be so bad anymore because it seems like tight end the tight end in both of those New York teams are gonna probably be a huge huge impact in their passing games yeah I see the the reason why they would be targeted so much would be because they're trying to get a feel yeah you know they're trying to get a feel how the system is going to work with the new tight ends obviously Kincaid has a lot of you know I would say a lot of praise and a lot of you know hype around him especially since he's a receiving tight end and then Waller you know a couple seasons ago was considered you know a top three tight end in the league so having you know Daniel Jones throw it out and you know get a feel with him you know will give Daniel Jones that the ability to be passing the ball around more than you know just having to pass it a Saquon or pass it a I believe I forgot what I forgot what their weather board or secret was but you know having Waller and Hyatt even with Hyatt I felt like he was getting like a lot more targets and you know passing around the ball I mean I feel like overall though I think if Daniel Jones actually does improve the passing we're looking at a Giants team that will be a playoff team for who knows how long because I mean I know the NFC East is in my opinion still all Eagles but I mean there's always that that second team is always going to be considered yeah yeah playoff team and maybe you'll be done because I think Dallas may be on the downfall we'll get to that later we'll get to that we'll get to that another couple other performances but not for good news or positive impact is Tua against the Texans if I'm being honest he does not look great right now I mean I know it was just like one or two drives but he threw a pick and you know the second drive he didn't really you don't really do much so you know Tua if I'm being honest I feel like Tua is just really carried by his weapons I don't think he's I know he's a winning quarterback whatever but just the eye test to me just makes me feel like Tua shouldn't be a franchise guy I know might be a lot right now but you know I just don't I don't know I don't like I don't like myself and Tua yeah I mean I also I actually did see the highlights of the Tua and yeah it was tough it was tough to see but it's just preseason again you know we know what he's capable of in the regular season he obviously helped to make that duo be what it is you know without without Tua you don't have Waddle and Hill in the top 5 receiving top 10 receiving yards so if Tua gets healthy if Tua you know if the offensive line comes close for him then Tua will be destined to be obviously an elite quarterback but we'll see yeah I don't know I mean I'm very concerned about him I'm just gonna say concerned about him because his injury history is concerning and a lot of concussions it comes to the point where it just makes you think about like how many more hits can he take you know we have me and Tua have something in common oh yeah so I got a concussion over the we were supposed to film a few days ago a few days ago but I got a mild concussion so Tua I salute you brother for making it through two of them during the regular season because I hated it I hated it but anyways yeah we'll see about Tua I drafted him in fantasy too so I'm praying man I'm praying well we'll talk about fantasy a little later yes another clip because I want to talk about one other person that I think is for sure cut is Mike Jones oh yeah he just sucks oh yeah he's I mean I did not but I saw the stat line and he blows I feel like Mike Jones it's his last season in the Patriots system it's his last season I agree I just don't see I just don't see it I can see I I'm calling it out Sam Hartman Patriots Sam Hartman Oh from Notre Dame Notre Dame yes I could say I don't know I mean we got away from the college football season to play out but I can also see the Patriots maybe gain a quarterback in 2024 but like we'll see we'll get into that a little more yeah but another thing now that we talked about the performances I would say actually there's one more performance I want to talk about Kenny Pickett did you know that five he had five drives his preseason and all five of them ended in touchdowns I did and it's very impressive it's impressive I know it's preseason like it you know but I think Kenny Pickett will take that big step if I'm being honest I mean five touchdowns five touchdowns and five drives in preseason I mean it speaks for itself yeah that his connections with Pickens his connections with Deontay his connections with this tight end it was it's spot-on already so and that's all he needs he just really needs three or four weapons to be spot-on with because it's very clear that Kenny Pickett could already be a franchise guy I know no regular season games have been played yet but I think he's already that guy yeah last year he was thrown into the fire to be honest being being the starter he he didn't look comfortable last year he didn't look comfortable there was always those little bright spots where I saw like okay he is that guy for Pittsburgh but just seeing him you know on those five drives said the Pittsburgh Steelers in this preseason really shows me a lot of more experience a lot more I would say just you know owner of an office yeah he was comfortable and obviously he was having good connections with Pickett with Pickens and Pat and so if that whole mesh you know continues having that great connection I just see the Steelers making it out of the for the playoffs you know if that's not like it's the last spot it's the last spot but the Steelers are a team to look at for sure yep I think the Steelers the more and more as I'm watching them and there's also another person we'll talk about is I brought his first name but his last name is Herbig mm-hmm and I've been seeing a lot of people talking about him too he's you got drafted in day three this year really he's been impacting games he impacted pretty much every single preseason games he had four or five sacks for how many for four or five yeah oh wow and he did he was playing in the started like the first of the game so he's already maybe the next guy that's gonna help with what I feel like I feel like the Steelers really are a 10 win team at least I can't believe I'm saying this but I think the Steelers are 10 win team and I know it's preseason but yeah they're not yeah I mean if the whole team comes together and you know they they're all on the same page they get they stay healthy Watts stays healthy you know they can take the next step and obviously make the playoffs you know Tom Mike Tomlin is obviously one of the best coaches of the recent histories and you know having him lead the team is what better way you know what better way I mean think about it like nine he got nine wins with Ben Roethlisberger being ass yeah he got nine wins last year with like horrible like an instability at quarterback so of course Mike Tomlin had them ready bro yeah he brought them black force energy so he's about that he brought them black air forces last year so he's about that bro yeah the Steelers are definitely gonna be a fun team to watch and I can't wait I really can't wait I hope they beat SF week one I actually think they could I think they could be SF week one well see I think they could and now on to more of like the real news the news is that have been happening I'm gonna touch on the lighter news first the JT stuff well it's still heavy news but JT officially can get traded now they pretty much said look you can go look and you can go explore but we need value out of you yeah now I think I understand where this is all coming from but I think that you know it's the right thing to do in a sense of letting JT look for a trade because JT does not deserve to play for an organization with an owner that talks the way he talks yeah about him so I don't know I mean what do you think well to be honest it's the best spot I mean the best spot I mean it's the best possibility for Johnson Taylor the culture giving him in that leeway but it's looking slimmer and slimmer by the day I only I've heard that there was only maybe two teams that are heavily interested on him one of those are in public really who was it the Dolphins oh I did not know that but I mean that doesn't surprise me at all you know that doesn't surprise me at all so I mean do the Dolphins have the they have the facilities to do it but will they pull the trigger is the question because they didn't go for Cook so it's just I don't know if there's a lot of factors that I think when it's with the Dolphins if they do it great they're gonna be a possible Super Bowl contenders possible but if they don't do it then it is what it is it just leaves Johnson Taylor with no more options like who's I don't know who the last possible team it is but I could see it being someone that I think probably makes sense but I'm thinking the Philadelphia Eagles if that happens if Johnson Taylor goes to Philadelphia Eagles I'll be just like okay like why am I gonna watch the NFL season you know like best running game one of the best passing games one of the best defenses what am I gonna do right it's like at that point takes a little bit of fun I was watching the game I'm just saying I'm obviously not sure what team it is but I'm pretty sure the Eagles are making that call you're gonna go see what's up with that maybe I mean Howie Rosen Howie Roseman is a pretty aggressive GM so I wouldn't be surprised exactly but now on to the the best part the part that literally actually let's let's let's hold off on the best part because I've had this one one more thing I want to talk to you for the best part all right all right Isaiah Simmons getting traded to the Giants he was a huge draft pick a few years ago for the Cardinals he was and there's a couple other teams at the Cardinals they essentially Josh Jones offensive tackle yeah but pretty much essentially though they traded everything like him and and a few other things for a quarter of quarterback Josh Stubbs Josh Stubbs okay Joshua Stubbs a quarterback and essentially like a center under so this seems like tanking to me if I'm being honest I think the Cardinals are taking like what do you think I 100% agree this is a tank job and the writings on the wall there's no way you trade an offensive tackle like that there's no way you trade away your best defensive player like that I mean other than Buda Baker my bad but Buda Baker probably would be on the trading block too I wouldn't be surprised um it's the writing is on the wall I just don't understand why they're getting up on Tyler Murray is done the experiment is over I don't understand why they're getting up on Tyler though I I see a top 15 quarterback right there he is when he's healthy but the issue is he's not been healthy he's not been healthy and they just give up they gave up completely they're like you know what we cleaned house we got rid of Queensbury now we want to move on to a new system and we want to get obviously one of the best quarterback prospects in recent history next to probably Lawrence but you know Caleb Williams start over start fresh get Caleb Williams and plus with Kyler Murray you can give good value with him you can trade him okay that is true I will they're gonna trade him I stay here and I can really see if the Cardinals do what I think they're gonna do if they really go and get Caleb Williams if they go trick Tyler the amount of kicks they're gonna have is crazy I've already had a lot of takes I've been saying it Marvin Harrison jr. and Caleb Williams are gonna make that next duo for the Arizona Cardinals it's it's it's the right the writing is on the wall I'm sorry to tell you but this is the do what you're gonna have to deal with for the next 10 years you know you're I feel like we're jumping the gun a little too much but at the same time if that happens I've been calling this is the draft that the Cardinals are gonna go all-in on Caleb Williams I mean they did draft an offensive tackle which was not ideal to me so I mean but you were on that and it didn't happen instead the Cardinals were playing chess the whole time and got y'all first they're doing a great team job I mean the NFL could could punish them if I'm not sure if there's any tanking you know obviously rules against you know tanking especially you know how I feel like you'll have to be like but they're so egregious yes it has to be like oh like they completely freaking give up in the fourth quarter or something like that and it's like obvious that you know they have the backup throwing that like like shit you know or throwing them out of bounds all the time then yeah but I mean I mean it's obvious it's obvious I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry at this point I am getting I'm getting more convinced that he's gonna be a Buccaneer or a Cardinal and if Caleb Williams ends up in my division I am I am I'm almost gonna like crack I'm also contemplating switching teams like what am I supposed to do now like my team now I wouldn't switch on my team but that's a late team they won the Super Bowl maybe we can talk about that but they haven't won shit anyways let's get back on track let's get back on track now to the better part this is even better this happened today Trey Lance to the Dallas Cowboys he went to the America's team Trey Lance is he gonna take over that spot that's really what I want to know he's not he's not right away but he might I agree because there's no way in hell it I feel like that Prescott is at that point where the team's obviously like impatient they're like look man we have a good defense every year we have good weapons every year and you always choke in the playoffs yep so of course it kind of makes sense at the same time this is just funny bro this is just funny to me I just can't believe out of all the teams he got traded to the Dallas Cowboys yep to Jerry Jones world yep you know after the other day when I saw Jerry Jones say what he said about one of his players getting arrested talking about oh he's maturing I was like you know what Jerry Jones is really just a character and I feel like he proved it again today with this stuff you know I mean yeah I feel like the Cowboys always love to be on television and not to mention I mean now it's time to talk about the better part the Niners okay well I want to add on that okay I don't know I don't want to add on this so the first season Dak Prescott was with the Cowboys they made it to the to the playoffs it was the Packers understandable the next year they lose again you know after that you know Dak Prescott gets injured there's some regression all right understandable he got injured he comes back he has a I think he has like an MVP caliber season I think I don't remember exactly but the moral of the story that year after year after year after year Dak Prescott doesn't perform there's an excuse oh he doesn't have this oh he doesn't have that oh he had an injury but now last year he had a little injury he did too but now the reality is Jerry Jones is saying no more excuses this is your last opportunity we didn't get Trey Lance just to back you up we got Trey Lance just to pressure you we got Trey Lance to push you and if you don't make the cut you don't make the playoffs you fail something no I think if they don't make to the NFC championship at this point I mean they make the playoffs they always lose in that first or second game their playoff record since 2000 or whatever is bad yeah exactly they're freaking Cowboys fans are 30 years old that have not seen a Super Bowl that have not seen you know like that window the window for the Dallas Cowboys is dwindling it is they love Zeke Zeke is out that was like that that part of that window now that window is really shortening really that leashes the leash on that Prescott is going to be very short soon it is it is I agree because you know he just always and against the Niners like 2020 like you know 2022 2023 season to end it with the Niners like bro really messed up this is like a like oh you know we the 40 I think I might be jumping the gun a little bit but I'm saying the 49ers are like oh we feel bad for you you guys lose to us all the time let's give up let's give up oh let's give you a look at our bust our biggest bust we've had in recent years I was about to say too well when I thought about I'm like bro the Cowboys just got trailed last from the team that beat their ass in the playoffs to two years in a row exact for a fourth round pick bro oh my gosh yeah and I mean honestly the Niners they took an L they I mean I feel like they accepted it they acknowledged they took an L because Trey Lance was heist everyone was oh my god Trey Lance is our savior oh bring legitimacy and he busted it Trey Lance is the reason the Niners don't have a Super Bowl they traded essentially three first-round picks for Trey Lance three I'm so thankful for like because of them we won the Super Bowl in 2021 I feel like if they would have actually kept their three picks and against us in that game who freaking knows they will have I don't know what but they will probably been way better then because they came down to a freaking drop interception yeah if they didn't drop that interception they would have beat us yeah you know coming from Rastan of course I'm happy I'm of course I'm happy that he freaking felled in San Francisco I'm so glad that he felled in San Francisco I'm so glad bro like for real like Niners fans I'm so glad I don't care screw y'all ever since they got CNC I don't care bro I'm ranting right now because you know what fuck the Niners fuck CNC fuck Brock Purdy fuck all them well they have a brighter future than you guys that's all I gotta say yes they do but I don't care right now I'm so glad that the Niners messed up big-time I don't like the Niners but I will defend them when when someone's biased and has not that they have no logic and that's you because the Rams oh no I have no future hold on the only one what Super Bowl and that's it I was not being illogical though when I said that they fucked up by getting trade lines they did because they traded they gave up three first-round picks for this guy like like like come on man y'all messed up for real and y'all messed up and I'm glad bro because if they didn't they was probably hoisting that Lombardi again like that Super Bowl freaking trophy against the Bengals instead of us I would like that's how far I'll take it I mean all I gotta say is this it's funny to me that it wasn't their top first-round pick that ended up being the starter ended up being the last pick of the draft mr. Irresist irrelevant but yeah it's funny to me mr. irrelevant is actually going to be the leading quarterback for the Rams up for the 49ers nothing it's also interesting that Sam Darnold who's at some point like the laughingstock of the NFL in terms of quarterbacks is a QB to me it's funny how you beat out trade lines yeah but in all seriousness though you know the Niners messed up the Cowboys are hilarious well I understand what they're trying to do but they're still hilarious and it's just fun it's just fun when two teams that are well hated do something like this imagine the two imagine the two fan bases here in Southern California right now they're probably like what the hell happened today yeah what the hell they're two big fan bases here in Southern California yeah one side was probably relieved and the other ones like I would believe the Cowboys are like what the hell why did we give up a fourth round pick for Trey Lapps like come on now like really we gotta save that fourth round pick and get our own quarterback anyways just interesting I don't just very interesting I think this is the best part this part of the best moments I've ever had in the steps and like all the stuff we filmed because this is so crazy this is great this is probably like the the climax of everything that's happened this offseason just Trey Lapps getting traded to the Cowboys it's a big surprise it's a big surprise yeah and we'll be back right now well when we come back we'll have our player predictions of you know all the player awards yeah so stay tuned because I think the camera is going to close you know how it does it yeah yeah yeah you're right yeah you do bro so now on to our best part our player predictions and you know I'm gonna let you start it off yeah so we're gonna do our award predictions early way too early predictions but here we are you know it is our official one the official yes so I'm gonna start it off with the rookies because we're gonna leave the MVP at the very end because it's obviously the best award the highest honor so an offensive rookie of the year I do have I could I had two players because I couldn't decide on one so I have so that's just one okay okay okay I'll choose one and I'll explain the second one just a little bit offensive rookie of the year is going to be Jon Robinson running back Atlanta I could see it I could see it I could see and the reason I have it is that he's obviously a workhorse he gives me those vibes of Derek Henry he gives me those vibes of Ecuador there's there's some there's a combination in terms of like the workload or no no I'm saying in like the the way he style his style he's up he's a heavy hitter heavy runner but he's also catching the ball a lot and so I think he's gonna have a 1,000 plus yard you know rushing attempts you know rushing yards in general and I think he's just gonna have a great great you know first season the second player that I had in consideration is Jackson Smith-Vegeta because he's always going to be a big player in Seattle he's gonna be the third wide receiver there but given the injury I did have to push him a little back because it could come into play later on in the season but yes B. John Robinson should be the offensive rookie of the year. I would have B. John second for me but I find it interesting that Jason's number two for you just because it just it's a little biased to me because I know you're Ohio State fan and I'm not saying he's not gonna have a good season I feel like he still can get near 1k and receive yours but like you said he's wide receiver three how would a wide receiver three really have a shot rookie of the year that's that's my take okay all right but my rookie of the year is gonna be Anthony Richardson I feel like with JT especially since he's pretty much heading out I feel like he's gonna have the most scrimmage yards amongst rookie quarterbacks and I do believe in B. John a lot but I just I don't know I don't know how to explain it I feel like Anthony Richardson might be a little more impressive than B. John because in B. John I feel like he'll get a lot of touches don't get me wrong but Tyler Algier and Cordell Patterson are just not gonna not exist anymore you know so I feel like B. John will perform very good still I feel like I said he's second to me but I just like what Anthony Richardson just the eye test yeah I mean Anthony Richardson is capable of many things you know he he has a lot of he has a big skill set so I wouldn't be surprised you know I guess I would have him on my third spot but and I'm not biased with the JSM one I'm just saying that I feel like he's in a good system but anyways moving on to the defensive rookie of the year we're gonna go with a guy that I'm kind of hyped about and that's Will Anderson Jr. I think Will Anderson Jr. is gonna break out especially in a weak division that I mean if I'm being honest the Colts and the Titans aren't the best offensive line yeah their offensive lines are pretty rough except for Quentin Nelson much respect to that guy I think he's gonna break out and then with a coach like Danico Riots who was also pretty solid in his career having him as a mentor I think it's gonna work out for him I could see it I have Will Anderson second personally so that the defensive player of the year is gonna be Jalen Carter of Philadelphia I I know this may come to surprise but I just I just feel like the the eye test and I know I know you know all the stuff off the office stuff is a concern yes but Jalen Carter if he's getting this much praise from the veterans from the Eagles I feel like that's all I need yeah that's all I need and not to mention that he was projected to go number one overall at one point until all that stuff happened yeah I think it was for a reason I don't think it was just because like just because yeah he's a defensive tackle and I can see if he I could see him getting like 10 sacks and for a defensive tackle to get 10 sacks it's filthy yeah and hey I mean I won't disagree with you Carter has been getting a lot of praise and he looked he's just a pretty solid in the preseason at least from what I've seen I wouldn't be surprised I wouldn't be surprised at all but I do think that defense is kind of stacked so yeah it could be a little yeah I'd like to tell for a Carter to break out from there but our grave is an SF now so he's gonna be yeah yeah I mean yeah I would agree so I mean obviously I didn't think about Jalen Carter I thought um second I actually had Tyree Wilson I had Tyree Wilson because I was looking also as preseason and a lot of people also have I saw some projections and some people also thought Tyree Wilson was considered a defensive player the rookie of the year so I mean I had Tyree Wilson there but yeah Jalen Carter should be considered a top three pick at least there on to the comeback player of the year it's an award that you know it always goes to someone that has gone through some hardship has gone through an injury and you know has made it out you know they made it from the from from nothing or made it from a difficult spot and what better player than to get it in the more Hamlet exactly I agree too I'm not even gonna yeah I haven't liked it right yeah like I feel like the more Hamlet has really showed us not only off the field on the field enough feel but that he's a warrior you know that he's gonna come back and he wants to play he does he he told I believe I think he told some reporters that he didn't want like any restrictions like he wants to play and you know preseason he did solid and I think he's gonna continue doing good you know I think the Bills are gonna give him that shot give him the chances to shine so I don't think I'm not gonna say that oh they're just gonna give it to him because of what happened last last season but I think they're gonna give it to him because he earned it it's crazy to think about how the more Hamlin pretty much almost tied in front of millions of people watching and to think to really sit there and see that he's pretty much about to play again and potentially be the starting safety I think he's a safety so starting safety it's just crazy to to really process I still can't believe it I still can't believe the more Hamlin is pretty much on the brink of coming back and after all that heart attack and last year wasn't a heart like this cardiac arrest is it's still crazy to stay here now and just not only see that he's fine but he's about to play it's definitely motivational it's very inspirational it's everything about because you know when you see a guy in that state you would think that's it that's his career if he lives he's not gonna play anymore he's done he's done you have to take it easy you know we saw Ryan another guy a guy that I can really remind me of is Ryan Shazier Ryan Shazier you know he he got paralyzed he was paralyzed in in the game yeah he got paralyzed and he still wanted to come back he still wanted to come back he was rehabbing hard hard he wanted to still play on that field man and so I feel like similarly DeMar Hamlin has been rehabbing has been recovering trying to find ways to you know keep himself healthy he wants to be out on that field every day playing with his team so and he's pretty much he's pretty much has it bro like it's crazy to stay here and really think about that yeah it's really just it's like a freak accident and then just now he's here yeah so he's gonna win that come back to the player of the year but it's not gonna be a given he's gonna be earned yeah and so heading on to the I mean you know going on to the defensive side the offensive player of the year it's an award that I feel like it's very very tough this year but if I were to pick a player it would have to be Michael Parsons I feel like I actually have to take a take a left right here and I think I feel like the defensive player of the year it's gonna be Nick Bosa again hmm I just think what I saw he's the best defensive player right now I know TJ Watt is right there with him but I just don't think Michael Parsons is on that tier if I'm being honest I think he's like in terms of like the S tier if we had a you know like do it like that he's like in the A tier they just like you know yeah but I also thought about Miles Garrett too but I just at the same time I just really thought about him like you know what like Nick Bosa it's just a freak. Is that the only 49er player that you like or what? No I don't like him. I don't like him. Nah but I mean no obviously yeah you know I disagree I do feel like Michael Parsons is an elite he is an elite defender and he I do feel like he is you know slightly he's slightly below Bosa and TJ Watt but I do want to throw out a wild card a wild card defensive player of the year. Who? Saf Gardner. It's a wild card it's not like oh I'm saying. You can only have one though. No I know I can have one but I'm saying a wild card it's someone an underdog someone that I could see it winning winning it you know without us like like thinking about it like oh this is a guy that he has no shot but then later on in the season you know comes out of nowhere you know. I guess it can but I feel like I you know I think Saf Gardner is one of the very good corners already in the game but I feel like the person that has a better chance at that is Pat Sertain if we want to hit that position but you know nevertheless I just think Nick Bosa is just gonna win it again I mean some people have won it multiple times and I think Nick Bosa is very capable of doing that and I mean you know he's just an elite defender man I'm you know like you. Yeah and on to the offensive side which is again another very crowded room like it's very hard to choose just one player and there was a lot even going up to you know prior to the recording there's a lot of players I was looking at and I had to decide on one. So who did you decide? I decided on a guy that I drafted with my first pick. I already know who. Jamar Chase. I'm high on Jamar Chase. If you haven't noticed the last episode I said he's gonna be making part of the big duo the best duo in the league. I think Jamar Chase is gonna go chase Justin Jefferson. I'm gonna say that Jamar Chase is gonna be the best receiver in the league and he's gonna win that Offensive Player of the Year. No ifs or buts he's the guy. I just okay I just need to know what what do you think he's gonna do this year like give me a very concise range. He's gonna go over 1,500 yards. How much like just 1,500 or? I'm just gonna leave it at that over 1,500 yards and he's gonna go over 15 touchdowns. Oh I see where you're going here like kind of like a Randy Moss type of. I think he's gonna have a Randy Moss type of year. If Joey Burrow stays healthy he will have a solid campaign. I can agree I mean I'm not gonna sit here and be like oh yeah Chase is gonna be mediocre but. I personally think Chase is gonna be a second or third best. At least to my Offensive Player of the Year Tyreek Hill. I mean I know that's an oddball. I feel like that's an oddball. No I'm not gonna lie with you. I feel like I feel like he's the if there's someone to break a receiving yard record it's gonna be him. I don't have him predicted that high but I have him leading the league in yards personally. He's a specimen I think he's the best receiver when it comes to ability. All Tua needs to do is just hit him at least like 60% of the time which I think he can do. Even though I know Tua is not the best of the best but he can do that. That's where I draw the line because I look at the quarterback situation. You got Joe Burrow, Tua, Tua. Tua got hurt. Joe Burrow's hurt. Okay Joe Burrow's hurt, Tua's hurt. But Tua was out the most and what happened? Tyreek Hill's stock kind of dropped just a slight bit. So if you and Joe Burrow his first season with Jamar Chase were incredible. Incredible. Jamar Chase was awesome. That's where you draw the line because if Tua gets hurt, Tua gets hurt, it's over for Hill. Okay. I mean I can sit here and say that. I mean and Chase has a quarterback that's a little bit more secure. Yes a little bit more secure in my opinion. That's why I give him the edge and that's why I have Justin Jefferson over Hill too again. Okay. And you can't disagree with me. They're all interchangeable. I just feel like I'm assuming that Tua could stay healthy enough and if that happens it's going to be Tyreek Hill. I really don't see anyone else really beating Tyreek Hill if he has his QB1. Yeah. It won't be like, of course it'll be close. I think Jay Jettis and Chase and even Cubb can make it interesting. Yeah and some running backs too like freaking CMC. Maybe even Bijon. Maybe even you know some other running backs like Tony Pollard, Henry Chubb. But I think realistically this is more leaning towards the wide receivers. Like let's just be honest. Yeah I mean that the consensus is it's going to be a receiver. Yeah. Honestly. And I mean that's why I said Hill's an oddball because I didn't think about it. I have Chase Jefferson ahead of him. You know even possibly Adrian Brown. Which it's a reach. It's a reach but that's where I want to lead on to. It's time for the MVP prediction. The biggest award in the NFL. And I think it's gonna go to a guy that last year came out of nowhere. Came out of nowhere to lead and be in the top three of the MVP race. And I think that MVP is going to go to former Alabama quarterback. Oklahoma quarterback. Number one Jalen Hurts. Okay I mean I can personally I had him second. I had a second. I feel like I could definitely see it though. I mean you know last year was very good and he has two very good weapons and actually a very good tight end as well. So I could definitely see it happen. I can definitely see Jalen Hurts winning it. But someone else also just got an improvement in weapons. Got a rookie. Got a very known wide receiver and that's Lamar Jackson. And I think Lamar Jackson is gonna be a 2023 NFL MVP. I've been saying it for a while now. I would have made it. You what? I would have made it. Exactly because he's a better runner than Hurts. Okay maybe the weapons are not there yet but I just think that Lamar if he should beat his career high by a few hundred yards at least. Passing yards? Yeah passing yards. I mean in passing yards. And I mean I still think he's the North's most or second most amongst quarterbacks. Like that's all like that's that's pretty much all he needs. And I that's really what I feel like can happen. One of the best receiving tight ends is already there. A nice receiver was already there on Rashad Bateman. So adding two more weapons it just helps. I think he's gonna be the MVP. And I wouldn't mind it. I wouldn't mind it because I like Lamar and I want Lamar to succeed. I want Lamar to be healthy. I want Lamar to prosper because he's on my fantasy team. Yeah we we dropped the fantasy our first one today. I feel like what you want to leave some screenshots here? Let people decide whose fantasy team was better between me and you? It's mine. I feel like you know the quarterbacks could have some work but if you look at my team like the depth and everything I think it'll be better personally. I mean when we put the screenshots make sure you put them. I will I will. When we put the screenshots and leave them up for at least 30 seconds. You'll see you'll see who's the better team. Well we can have people decide whose team is better because I think mine you know the quarterbacks are shaky a little bit. I won't deny that but when we look at everything else I have the best team compared to him especially. I have the best team when it comes to running back depth, wide receiver depth, wide receiver upside, tight ends, and tight end depth. Like I feel like I have the best team but as he pretends to sleep. What's going on? I'm hearing all the snooze I'm hearing a snooze fest going on. You've never won a fantasy championship anyway so you know I know that hurts but maybe it'll be this year will be your year and to end it off though we are releasing our fantasy football rankings next week. Next week because it's time to give the public our. Go ahead. It's time to give the public our rankings. You know just what we think is going to happen and stuff like that and you know I'll be honest maybe like take it with a grain of salt because injuries happen. Because we are not assuming injuries because we don't know who's going to get injured so of course we're not going to stay here and assume injuries. So take it as more like you know a ranking system for us and overall any last remarks? No yeah I mean I feel like everything you know our predictions were pretty much you know on step or on track with like pretty much what everyone said and yeah I mean fantasy it really is upon us. Today we drafted so it's like and we have two more drafts but that will be for the next episode.
