Nothing to say, yet
The podcast hosts discuss the importance of writing things down as they get older. They talk about using notebooks and phone notes to remember things. They also mention that writing things down helps commit them to memory. They mention Sean Kingston, a singer who was recently released from police custody for theft. They discuss the challenges celebrities face after their fame fades and the need to have a plan for the future. They also touch on the difficulty of releasing another hit song after a successful one. Let's go. You are now tuned in to the most ignorant podcast in America. This is Donnie Plummer. I am the DOK And I'm sitting here with my main man Larry P. What you got to say my man? So for those of you that are listening y'all may not understand this or y'all might not realize this because this is the first time y'all listening to it and it sound like it's the first take but We've literally kind of like re-recorded this one take like probably like three different times. Mm-hmm. And every time we've re-recorded it I've tried to think about what I was gonna say Because I've literally had it at the top of my head this morning and I don't know what I was about to say And that's when I realized like I just I'd be wanting to write down stuff and I you know I'm 35 about to be 36 and I don't like to think that I'm old. Mm-hmm. I Like to and I really think I got a list I would like to think and a lot of my friends tell me I have a very great memory. Mm-hmm But I realized the older I get I just gotta write down stuff more Well, I think I was thinking is It's not the writing things down that's the issue because you also have to sometimes you'll write something down But you'll forget where you put it. Mm-hmm See this is this is why This is why I write things that I write things down in two places. I got like a little notebook I read it in that notebook or I got my notes on my phone. Usually everything goes in the notes on my phone You know, and if I put it in there, then it's like boom I get some things that I may tell myself to write down and I write it down in my notes And then at one point in my life, I may be like dang man What was that? I wish I could remember and I go to my notes and I'd be like dang Larry you smart, bro Well, there is scientific research that backs that things are more likely to be committed to memory if you write it down I've shifted to being electronic calendar guy. Like I just have to put everything in my calendar otherwise, I'll forget to do little stuff like I have to put things in my calendar like Take out the trash. Otherwise, I'll forget trash gets picked up every Friday and I'll be sitting there on a Friday morning I'll hear the truck like And I'll be like, you know what? I did not take that trash out And like I said, I should have put it in my camera It's not like I don't feel like I still don't feel like I'm getting old which yeah, I'm getting older But I don't feel like I'm getting old. I just feel like I feel like the older we get the um The more The more things that happen in life that we just it is it is harder to remember things It's also the difference between your short term and your long-term memory. Like I can rattle off like details of things that happened like years ago Because it's cemented into my long-term memory But if you ask me like about a conversation from this morning Like I might struggle to recall everything that we talked about and so that's what happens when you're like I lost my train of thought I forgot it's like it's not Cemented into my memory yet in a way that I can just recall it immediately. Yeah. No, I think that's what it'd be man I said, I think you just get older man. You deal with more stuff more bills. You got work You got all these other things you got to do you trying to go to the gym? You trying to keep your sanity trying to keep your peace You trying to figure out a man is that game going on sale when Madden come out? There's a come out in September doesn't come out in October. They try to figure out a man What happened would be uh, you know saying you know, the Celtics versus the Mav, you know What what day that game come on, you know saying is it up to one is it up three one? Is it down to zero and you know, it's just so many things to be going on in your head You know, I'm saying one small little thing You can't write that down man That's all I'm saying man. Write it down Speaking of getting older though. What are we talking about this week? We're talking about that boy Sean Kingston Why are we talking about Sean Kingston But they used to be my song back in the day, okay, so for those of you who are uninitiated I want y'all I want to read y'all this Doors So our credit to billboard who was the source of this news article that I'm referencing this is a Article by Rania and neat and neat toast Mm-hmm. All right, second paragraph whoever that is Mama repo Farrah Sean Kingston was released from police custody on $100,000 of bond according to documents obtained by billboard and reported by teams if it was a hundred thousand dollar bond I want people to realize that the bond is 10% That means it was what a million dollars yeah, bro, we're like God Oh Second paragraph the beautiful girl singer who was able to use his mortgage as collateral I want y'all to understand that the last time I thought about Sean Kingston was when he released beautiful girl I didn't realize this man was still around. I didn't realize, you know He was still in the league, but apparently him and his mama is out here stealing They say they got got like half a million dollars worth of jewelry See so many thousand from Bank of America. So that's the issue That's the issue with a lot of these celebrities and like you said you just said you didn't know he was still around You know He's still in the league the thing about it is you didn't realize that he was still around still wasn't in the league because he Was not he has not been there and the reason why the only thing she could say freaking what Did we in 2024 that song? It came out of like 2007 2006 so you're talking about what's that 18 18 17 years 17 years ago and the only thing she can quote is the beautiful girl singer according to MSN Sean King Sean Kingston's net worth is $400,000 that sounds about right. I'm at a hundred thousand dollar so so so yeah, so when it comes to like celebrities like that and like you still trying to live off the The the only other thing that I know Sean Kingston did was the beautiful girl song Suicidal is what the song was called. And then oh, what's it called? Beautiful girls. It probably called beautiful girls, you know They put it for real. I think it was a little song I think The original name for the song was suicidal and then they made him change and they changed the lyrics to make it more radio friendly Nah, so yeah, so, um, which by the way, that is wild So he just said y'all are too beautiful You will make me suicidal if you said it's over. I mean, that's not it's great. That's not too far-fetched though But it was also by the song 2007. That's not too far-fetched. Oh, you know, how many do how many dudes, you know ladies ladies? I know the ladies listening. They know a dude that they didn't try to break up with and then the dude be like I'm gonna kill myself Not you know, I'm a I'm an advocate for the mental health community And I think everybody should go to some form of therapy So I don't want to be insensitive when I say I'm about what I'm about to say Don't like yourself to be manipulated by people saying wow stuff like that man ain't gonna do nothing Why I mean until they do until they do but I'm just saying but let me live it. Okay, but What you should do is send a mobile crisis unit to their house Like oh, no, don't do it. I'm gonna kill myself. Hold on. Let me click over and call the police what I will say You need a mental health check what I will say ladies Like Doc says nine out of ten times. They won't do it But there is a one out of ten chance that they will do it. However, what you have to understand is if they do do it That is not your fault because they have some other stuff I don't want other stuff they had going on to me. It sounds like you dodged a bullet However, they did not but what it sounded like is Sean Kingston told us way back in 2007 that he had some issues But um, yeah, so but as I've been my train of thought has been in truth thoughts men women with these celebrities that um that uh That would taste about that we get up here but uh After like, you know that limelight you be in a limelight, you know I fought so hard to be like, you know the singer this rapper this celebrity you get there and then it's just ripped from under You you know saying, you know how the music industry or the industry goes it just gets ripped from under you Like what you supposed to do? Go work at McDonald's Go be a manager shoe carnival So usually a lot of these times like baby blue got got sent to jail for doing that PPP for a couple of years For doing that PPP fraud, you know all they try to do is just try to keep up with the Joneses and try to keep this image or this lifestyle that they can't maintain because It ain't there no more. You gotta have more on your resume than whatever the top line is That's really what it is. Like the life is the way that the music industry is set up the way that fame is set up Even if you how they always talking about arm everybody gets like a 15 minutes of fame Mm-hmm. All right, you gotta have a plan after your 15 minutes is over. You had a hit What did you do with that money? How did you how did you? Position yourself for your long-term long-term future now. I was released in 2007 you are being arrested in 2024 for for fraud What have you been doing for the last 17 years now I gotta give him a little bit more grace than that because a lot of times you get that one hit like he's only had that one hit you get that one hit and You kind of think like you made it so you think it like you could put out another hit Which you don't realize how hard it is to put out another hit kind of like what that boy name is moonwalker With that with that song Lizzo. She got a little bit of stuff about that's okay. I Don't know what you talking about well Anyways, he he he came out with that song Lizzo and I thought about it the other day and I was like, hey, man Like after they played on the radio and I was like, hey, man, they used like when it was on the radio was poppin Mm-hmm, but after that song like we heard nothing from moonwalker So then I'm wondering like if he gonna be one of those people that like he did all this work he finally got this one song to hit and he can't get no more and Then it's like what do you cuz like I can say when you get that one song like just imagine if you a celebrity you Artist you a singer you're a rapper and you know I'm saying you like you usually by the time this song hits the airwaves Now you probably done created like a thousand songs five hundred to a thousand songs I feel like we bout to talk more about Sean Kingston than anybody's talked about Sean Kingston ever But now I need to do a deep dive on Sean Kingston while while we're on it on air Because I need to know what happened Well, well, like I said the next thing like after he did the beautiful girl song the next thing I think the next biggest thing he did was he collaborated with a song with Justin Bieber and this is kid Justin Bieber And you know saying you see how old Justin Bieber is now he collaborated with a little kid Justin Bieber that was like the next biggest thing he did. I think he was on Justin Bieber tour You know saying him and Jaden Smith And this is also when Jaden Smith was a kid which makes me kind of Question like why was Sean Kingston hanging out with all these little kids? Don't ask me why I know so much about Justin Bieber Okay, okay. Okay. Okay. So after Sean Kingston second album, right? In 2010, he signed according to Wikipedia then unknown Canadian rapper Tory Lanez Mmm, so Sean Kingston had a stream of revenue at some point cuz Tory Lanez became a big deal at one point You know before you know the other I want to say Tory Lanez didn't That now that's a little jaded Italy it at least put the money in shocking his pocket is what I'm telling you That's a little jaded because Tory Lanez really started popping until later But I don't know if he was still shot sign is on key is that that that's what I'm saying like he probably signed Tory Lanez and Tory Lanez came out cuz Tory Lanez started off as a singer and He listen he made some other he's got some other We don't know these songs but according to billboard. He has some other hits. So he was still out here He just didn't reach. I think that's the issue you peep very early like you came out with your biggest hit Like right off the bat and so even if you made other songs that charted even if you made other songs that people knew It wasn't gonna be that so you're always gonna be the beautiful girl singer Sean Kingston Instead of like, you know referencing any of your albums you've made since then cuz he's still an active musician According to all sources that I can remember, you know, like the musician. Um, well, you know, we But I mean somebody is Nobody listen, you know, Sean Kingston, but don't nobody believe that Sean Kingston is walking around with five hundred thousand dollars. That's what I'm saying don't nobody believe that Sean Kingston has Luxury homes and in in these types of things. I don't believe that Yeah I don't believe like a lot of people have that you know saying and when I when I see this I'd be like dang man like I'd be looking at people like Let's say, you know, they said did he did he better get caught up in some money laundering stuff stuff like that, man I'm like, man, you got all these houses and stuff and I'm like, hmm Hmm like I mean, of course you can make it look good, you know, I mean, but like we've all seen shows like power We've all seen shows like the wire and stuff like that I Don't see deep down inside, you know, no disrespect to the black community. I'll be thinking what a drugs When we come back, I want to talk about the image problem. It's done the plumbing line
