Seattle Indian Health Board is a community health center that serves all people from all ages for their healthcare needs. It was founded in 1970 and is located in the International District. The organization moved to Lake City with the help of Council President Juarez. They have been in Lake City for about three months and have been welcomed by the community. And the way that we came around was just, you know, out of the civil rights era, there were a lot of natives actually moving to Seattle. And so we were a community health center. So the outside mural, which you saw, was actually, it's called Gobs of Color. It was created by Megan McDermott. She was a former SIHB employee. She was a former SIHB employee. But that mural was really meant to show that we are intertribal in our urban way, meaning that we see there's just so many of us coming together in this urban area. It really helps kind of appeal to our non-Native patients as well, just about the beauty of Native people and how we are all about just coming together and we each have something to bring. I don't know if you've been inside, but we also did an inside mural that was done by Andrew Morrison, who is Haida and Apache. He actually brought together the youth. There's a North End Native, it's called the Urban Native Education Alliance. They brought together youth to participate in the creation of the mural here with Andrew Morrison. He has been known for a long time to work with youth, so this was just a really awesome opportunity to let our youth set this place off in such a good way. So you have to come inside and check out the inside mural. Yeah, that's great. It adds to, we've really been trying to lean into the mural component for the neighborhood, so it's been a really beautiful addition. Is there anything else that people should know about Seattle Indian Health Board? Anything that you want to share? I think the name can sometimes be misleading for people to think that you need to be Native to go to our clinic, but I think it's just important for people to know that we take all people, about 40 to 50 percent of the patients that we see use state insurance or Medicaid. We take commercial insurance. We take uninsured people, and we can actually see if we can help them get on state insurance. We can offer things like WIC or SNAP, those sorts of things for folks, too. We try to really, as much as we can, be a one-stop shop for folks, so that whether you're dealing with you just want a medication and you want in and out, we can do that. Or if you're really struggling, maybe with housing or domestic violence, we actually have a whole team with case management. We're soon to have social work, and so we want to try to make sure that we can take care of as many needs as possible, even in one visit, because I know it's hard, right? It's hard to sometimes get to appointments where you have to take a day off of work to get there, and so we're continually going to shift to the needs of the people that we serve. So even in coming up here, we saw the need, and we want to continue to meet the needs of this community. So however we can, we'll take feedback and try the best we can to make sure we meet the needs of this community. That's great. I'd like to just offer a little feedback on that, I guess, and that is I am so glad that you guys are up here. I don't have to go to Leschi anymore, and I live right here, so it's amazing. And seeing faces that I already know, and just, you know, I guess I just immediately felt at home. And I think that it's one of those things I've been trying to tell all my friends and people about Seattle Indian Health Board for years, and that they accept anyone, and that you'll get, you know, a lot more open-minded treatment. You know, it's less judgmental or... And less sterile feeling, you know? Exactly. And it's been a little bit tricky, like you said, to get people to step outside of the idea that it just says Indian on it. I know, I know. I know. Don't think we haven't thought about changing the name, because, yeah, we know that that can be really confusing. What type of Indian? You know, like, are you talking, excuse me, dot or feather? It's ridiculous. But, like, we get a lot of people who are just confused by the name, so we really try, yeah, spread the word, letting people know. I definitely do, and I think that this is one of the things that helps that. So, people listening, please understand that this is for everyone, and it's a really inclusive and welcoming environment. Right. And then I would add, too, thank you, that we also see people from all languages. We have a really great video interpretive service now that actually gets somebody right away in video with good sound. Oh, yeah. Including ASL, we've had quite a few people who are deaf or hard of hearing, and so we do want to make sure that people feel comfortable in getting services. So, we do offer translation services. We do also offer sliding scale fees, so even if you aren't able to qualify for insurance, we at least provide sliding scale. So, yeah, we want to see you. We want to see your families. We want to treat your substance use disorder. We have suboxone treatment with all of our clinicians. We are a very inclusive place. We like to say we treat everybody in the native way. Yeah, I love that, and I just want to say that, for sure, if you struggle to pay for your prescriptions, go to Seattle Indian Health Board. Yeah, we have some ways of working out some tricky logistics and make it easier for people. I'm asthmatic, and sometimes it's ridiculous to have to pay for that inhaler, and all I have to do is go in there and say, I'm out. I need a new one, and it's a couple of dollars instead of a lot more. Like I said, there are so many meds that are so expensive that we are at a really unique advantage of being able to get things at a lower cost. Even things like over-the-counters, we have a fair amount of over-the-counters that we provide in our pharmacy free of charge or low cost, and even plant medicines. Those are things that we're hoping to actually expand on is being able to provide that as well for herbs, supplements. If people want to learn more, is there some place that they can go?
