Fiona Zins, also known as Maxi, discusses surviving the war as Peter Navarre. Peter was a scout in the War of 1812 and narrowly avoided death. He escaped with his weapon and settled in East Toledo. He passed away at the age of 89 in 1874. Peter had a wife named Catherine and they had six sons and two daughters. The Great Swamp near Lake Erie was a challenge for Peter, as many people got trapped in the mud and died. Peter found the noise of elks in the area interesting. How did I survive Peter Navarre by Fiona Zins aka Maxi Zins? Hello, this is Fiona Zins or Maxi, and today I'm going to talk about Peter Navarre. I'm going to talk like him for this. What happened? This is how I survived the war. I was a scout of the war of 1812. I tried really hard not to die, and I was really close to dying in that war, so I escaped with my weapon. And, which was really hard, I imagine. Let's go back to the podcast. I was in East Toledo when I died. I was the age of 89, and it was March 24, 1874, and that was a long time ago. My family. Robin, Alexis, and James, they are my brothers. My wife's name is Catherine Navarre, and with her I had six sons and two daughters. That's a lot of kids. I was born 1790. PS, that's all we know for now, or at least what I could find. And that was like 237 years ago, and three months and six days. How did I almost die? The war, this was my main problem, at least for me. The Great Swamp. The Great Swamp is the hardest thing I had to deal with. And it was really close to Lake Erie, which I lived close to. The mud in the swamp. The swamp had a lot of mud, and most people got trapped in the mud and left to die. Oh my god. And there are probably more than that, but this is what I thought was important and what I thought was cool. What was that? I'm going to tell you now. Or not! Just kidding. The noise was the elks. Back then there were elks and some other animals, but I thought the most interesting one would be the elks. And that's my podcast.
