Good afternoon, it's one o'clock, I'm Philipa Platt and this is Leeds Tax Radio News. The Chancellor's on his seat in the Commons, where he's setting out pre-election tax cuts. Jeremy Hunt will use his budget to confirm he's cutting National Insurance by two pence in the pound. Lonan Sheldrick has more. He's told MPs the latest forecast by the Office for the Budget Responsibility suggests inflation will drop below 2% within months, and he says the economy will grow from 0.8% this year and to 1.9% next year. Mr Hunt announced extended freezes on alcohol and food duties. He'll also allocate a million pounds to build a memorial to Muslims killed in two world wars. A mother has been charged with murdering her 10-year-old daughter in the West Midlands. Shai Khan's body was discovered on Monday. Last night, a new electric bus was vandalised in the Old Farnley bus stop. Nine windows were smashed whilst the bus was in service, but nobody was hurt. The same thing happened on Monday. First Bus Yorkshire PR Manager Richard Harrison says it is happening quite a lot. You know, we don't proactively, in that sense, report on vandalism because, you know, I think it's a fine balance between sometimes where you, you know, reporting can actually encourage kind of topical and more action. The brown bin collection has been pushed back by a month from April from its original date in February. This is because the council are trying to support the review of black and green bin routes. The council have also overspent this year's budget. Hip-hop culture over the last 50 years has been displayed in an exhibition in Leeds. The work of Jest and LSK has been featured in the display. The exhibition at Leeds City Museum ends March 24th. Rachel Daly is a curator at the museum. It was very different in the 1970s in the UK as it probably wasn't as much of an influence in Leeds at the time. I think it was in the early, from the early 80s onwards where it really started to have an impact in the UK in general. People from Leeds Village are fighting against a proposed sand and gravel quarry. The villagers are worried that the work caused disruption and the supposed silicosis that could be developed in the people who are living nearby. Hargreaves, the company proposing the quarry, have created a website page to give people the opportunity to learn more about the, learn more about and provide feedback on the proposal. A Leeds primary school has raised nearly £700 for a charity, Homeless Street Angels. Sherwell Primary School has hosted both a bake sale and a non-uniform day to help raise funds. A Spring Walk and Talk has been organised as part of an event to bring women together in Leeds. The walk will take place in New Templesman on Sunday at 11 o'clock.
