Trina introduces her podcast, "Lean on Me with Trina," where she and her guests will discuss various life experiences and ways to cope. Trina shares personal details about herself, her family, and her career as a CCA. She mentions her daughter's positive approach to dealing with grief and loss, and her own 14-year relationship with her husband. Trina expresses her excitement for future episodes and hopes to reach a wide audience who can benefit from her stories and advice. She plans to release podcasts biweekly, keeping them between 30 minutes to an hour. Trina thanks her subscribers and asks for their support in sharing and recommending her podcast. Lean on me, when you're not strong, I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on. Hi, everybody. Welcome to my very first podcast. This is just going to be letting you know about me and what my plan is and, you know, things we're going to be doing. Anyways, as most of you already know, my podcast is called Lean on Me with Trina. It is basically myself and my guests, which I have lined up and there's going to be many, which will be fun and great, you know, views, different ways of coping with things and things that we've all been through or may have yet to go through. We're going to be talking about my life, trials, tribulations, all the good, all the bad, all the ugly. My guests will be talking about things that they have been through, just everybody's life. Stories from the heart, sharing ways to cope, just talking. And I think a lot of us sometimes feel very alone with things and it can be hard. I want you all to know that you're not alone and I'm here and there's lots of people here to help you deal with things better. Anyways, my name is Trina Roberts and I live in a small town in Nova Scotia, just outside of Truro. I'm not from here. My husband and I moved up to Truro area, I think it's been about 11 years ago now, going on 12. We're both from Yarmouth, small fishing village at the end of the province, southwest Nova. We have all of our family, tons of friends, you know, everybody's down there. We try to make trips down as much as we can, but both of us work full time, so it's not always easy. Since we've been up here, my daughter has moved up. She came up about four years ago, my only child, Megan. She's a CCA like her mom. She works at a nursing home. I myself work in the emergency department at our hospital up here. And my husband, he's an automotive service manager at a local garage up this way, so we keep busy. My stepson, too, he moved up here a little over a year ago and he also works at the same place as his dad. So, yeah, we're all doing good and not without trials and tribulations along the way and still going through from time to time and yet to go through. A lot of you know I lost my grandson. It's been over six years now. He was my only grandchild and the only child of my only daughter. He was seven years old and he died in a house fire along with his three little cousins. So that's had a major, massive, huge impact on all of our lives. We're going to be talking about that. And actually my daughter, who's going to be hopefully a frequent guest on here, is going to be talking about her ways of how she's dealed with stress and loss and grieving and all that stuff. She's been absolutely remarkable and an inspiration to so many. She's taken her horrible, horrible grief and sense of loss and turned it into so many positive things. And I'm really looking forward to her sharing some things about that with you. My husband's going to be a guest at some point, hopefully a few different times. I'd love to tell again how our story began. It was kind of crazy in the beginning, but, yeah, we've been powering through and we are on our 14th year together. Yeah, so a little bit about me. I'm a CCA. I've been doing this work for close to 30 years, home care, nursing home, and now I'm finishing out my career at the hospital in the emergency department, and I absolutely love it. It's very busy. I have a busy mind and I like to keep going steady. It's great. We have the best team that I work with, the nurses, the doctors, the housekeepers, everybody, all the specialists. Like, I think our hospital's rocking, but that's just my opinion. We've got pets. We have two dogs, two cats. We just live in a little neighborhood, very lovely neighborhood outside of Toro in a little bungalow. We like to travel. We love to talk and we love to entertain. Sometimes we have, like, oh, there's been as many as, like, 10 people sleeping at our house that come up from Yarmouth and get together and, you know, we cook and we have drinks and we have barbecues and we travel around and we just do fun things, so we love having our family up and friends whenever anybody can come up this way. As I said, this is just an introductory podcast for my first one. I just want you to know a little bit about me and what we have in store. I am still working on getting the rights to the music. Well, not the rights, but, well, yeah, I guess it's called the rights to some music that I want to use for my intro and to use throughout the podcast. It's just a catchy little tune. You all know it. But anyways, working on getting the rights to that. I've been emailing and just waiting to hear back, so it's kind of bland for now until I get some music incorporated in, but I'm set up, I'm ready to go. So hopefully I will have a good following. I hope you guys are interested in what myself and my guests will have to say. I think it's going to be fun. We're going to have laughs and we're going to talk about stuff from past, present, future, everything. About life, the way things are now, how it's changed, good relationships, moving on, having families, travel, just a little bit of everything. It's just basically about life, and I think we all will pick something up from it. So anyways, that's it for now. I'm going to be setting up my next podcast. I'm hoping to put one out biweekly, so that is my plan. Maybe some of them are going to be longer than others. I'm hoping to keep them between a half an hour and an hour, just long enough so that you don't get bored. I hope my voice isn't annoying. That was one thing. I did a little test demo, and I let my husband listen to it, and I'm like, is my voice annoying? Do you think people are going to want to listen to it? And he's like, no, it's fine, but he's my husband. So hopefully the feedback is good, and I just want to thank you all again so much for subscribing. I'm set up on YouTube for now. I'm going to be setting up the podcast as well on Spotify. So hopefully I'll get people following me on there as well. I'm going to share some of these on Facebook. Basically, I'm just hoping that you'll subscribe and listen and hopefully share and recommend me to your friends if you're getting anything out of these podcasts. I really want to reach a wide audience, and I have a lot to share. I always call myself an old bird. I've been there, and there is always hope no matter what you're going through, and hence the title of my podcast, Lean On Me. It's very meaningful to me because I have been here for a lot of people, and a lot of people have been here for me, thankfully, and we all need that. So anyhow, thank you again, and I will be talking to you again very soon.
